I have a nut for a manager who changed my form and added _top so that I could redirect a response to a parent window, anyway, I have two .net forms and now he tells me I can't do any posting back on my child window. I have lots of .Net event callbacks that use autopostback on this child window. He told me he believes I can do all the necessary event code through his Javascript client-side scripting that he loves so dearly. I don't think he knows .NET very well even though he acts like he does. the microsoft server coding world and without replacing every object in my child window (there are many) with html and resorting to an html page (God help me Bill Gates I'm coming to get you) is there anyway I can have my events (onselectedindexchanged onclick ... ie) to call javascript functions without an autopostback on any of my controls ?

however i hav really tried out using removeAttr() to remove attribute and then evt.preventDefault() which ofcourse should prevent the postback...
also tried to set the evt.returnValue = false so that the value returned by the dropdownlist change event is false ...

I am still a beginner, so pardom me. I have this stage problem which i am having a difficult time to solve. I have two link buttons and a gridview. In my gridview, I have a select system used for my OnSelectedIndexChanged. Now when the select in the gridview is clicked on, it populates certain into in a textbo xand it is also changes the name of my linkbutton to update. The problem I am having is based on the fact, after the name of my linkbutton is changed, one of my linkbutton gets repositioned as well. View 3 RepliesI have an update panel which contains a number of controls. The update panel is triggered by the OnSelectedIndexChanged event of a dropdownlist called: ddlUSCitizenshipStatus. It works as expected when I selected a new item.
However, if I leave ddlUSCitizenshipStatus with the default value, and then click "submit" button on the page, the requiredfieldvalidators say there is an error on ddlUSCitizenshipStatus (which it should, as I never selected a value). So I then choose a value, the error message goes away on ddlUSCitizenshipStatus, however the updatepanel does not refresh. I've debugged this locally and the OnSelectedIndexChanged event for ddlUSCitizenshipStatus does not fire.
If I choose an item in the ddlUSCitizenshipStatus list a second time, the OnSelectedIndexChanged server event fires and the update panel refreshes and works as expected.The issue is, I have to select an item in ddlUSCitizenshipStatus twice, after failed validation, before the updatepanel it's sitting in updates.The submit button on the page looks like this:

The dropdownlist, update panel, and reguiredfieldvalidator all work as expected. However, I need to run that custom "ValidatePage()" script when the button is clicked.Below is what my ValidatePage script looks like. I've been troubleshooting this for more hours than I can count.... I hope someone is able to help me. Please let me know if you can figure out why ddlUSCitizenshipStatus doesn't update the updatepanel until the second click after a failed validation.

I am using fullCalendar and I'm able to populate the calendar with events very easily. And I undertsand the best way to add events to the calendar is through the database. What I need now is to catch and populate an edit event form after the user clicks an event.

This causes alot of trouble for us in our application cause we use both ASP.NET-events mixed with jQuery and once you hook up a change event on any element every select (dropdown) gets this double firing problem.
I have a link button in a repeater control. the li element is drag and droppable using jquery. when the page loads the the link button works perfectly, the jquery that is attached and the server side code both execute. when I perform a drag and drop then click on the link button it doesnt not fire. when i click it a second time it does fire. If i perform 2 or drag and drops in a row the link button doesnt fire a as many drag adn drops as i before it will fire. for example if if perform 3 drag and drops then it will take about 3 click before the events are fired.

I try to unbind an event and then rebind a new event to an input element of type text. I think the unbind works, as teh default behavior is disabled, but the rebind not.

I understand I need to load my dynmaic control on every postback and preferrably in Page_Init(). But my dyanmic controls are loaded from a dropdownlist selectedindexchanged event handler. Now after any postback, my dynamic controls are gone. How would I force it to load on every postback ?
View 2 RepliesI'm having trouble managing how to call upon databind from clicking on a row over an already populated repeater that will populate data regarding the row clicked TO another repeater on the same page.
I've succeeded doing that with postback, calling a jquery click event of that row, taking the data of the specific row and passing it onto a "Querystring" and after postpack, it will be pushed into a Session which the ObjectDataSource of the secondary repeater will recognize and populate the data tables accordingly.
The problem is, I must do it without a postback or in other words purely on client side.
I've found posts about making a click event with jQuery for a button, however I need a little more then that. When any postback occurs on a page, I need to fire off a jQuery click event. Based on a condition, I want to continue processing (including running the server-side event code after the jQuery code), or, perform a redirect. I'm not quite sure how to go about this.

With the help of forum member raghav_khunger I've managed to write the code which shows panel and label when checkBox is checked. I've also added the code which is checking on every page post back the status of checkbox and hide/show panel and label appropriately. This is working fine.However when I add jQuery Safari checkbox plugin [URL] problems appear.
Looks like the code which is handling click event is doing reverse thing: when panel and label should be hidden are shown. I can change this but then there would be problems because of the second part of the code which is checking checkbox on page load. So when I check the checkbox nothing happens. I must uncheck it and label and panel appears. But if panel is uncheck the label and panel would be hidden because on next page load (when user clicks button next).As I said before the same code is working fine and it's test in all browsers (IE,FF,O,S,C). Maybe there is problem with checkbox plugin since it's in beta version.

I have a DropDown which is bounded to an ObjectDataSource. On its data bound event, I am adding "--select--" value on the 0 index. I have a LinkButton on the page and on its client click, i am selecting different item on drop down (using JavaScript). Suppose there are 3 items like --select--, option1, option2 and option3 and now on link button's client click i selected option3, now if I select the default value "--select--", it does not fire the SelectedIndexChanged event. If I select any other value then it fires. Why does it not work for the default value?

I have a page that contains dynamically generated Dropdown List controls and I want thant the dynamic dropdown list perform an AutoPostback to fill some other field using the value selected. This is the code I'm using to create dynamically the control:

Control is correctly filled and rendered on ASP page but, after selecting a value, the page is reloaded (AutoPostBack is called) but the control is not diplayed and the sub is not called. I put a breakpoint into the ChangeValue sub but anything happens.
I read on some post that handler for the first DropDownList is not necessary but, how is it possible to tell DropDownList to call my sub after changevalue?
