JQuery :: How To Get The Currently Selected Tab In JQuery For Css Styling
Apr 1, 2011
I have a code to display a message when a tab is selected, but now I want to add a background image to the selected tab when it is being selected. Here is the code:
[Code]....
I think something like $(selected tab).css("background-image","url stuff.."); should work but I do not know the syntax for the currently selected tab. Any Idea ? Well, Someone suggested to use $(this).css("background-image","url stuff..");, but this did not apply the image to the current tab but instead the main tab container.

I have a gridview which i was trying to set the row that was currently selected to a different color.. i have used the SelectedRowStyle and works fine, but my needs are to highlight the row regardless of what button or link was clicked on within the row.. thats my description of "selected" i know that that the styles are based on events.. but i dont care if you click on edit, select, delete or any other button within the row.. i want to highlight the row so you know what record you are working with.. if i add the EditRowStyle, then if i selected row 5 it highlights.. no biggy, but with the edit row style, if i then click edit on row 2, then i have 2 records highlighted.. Is there not any way to determine if anything was done within a row and highlight it?

I am using jquery and c# to dynamically set a radiobuttonlist listitem to selected. I want to create a reset-type button to reset the radiobuttonlist selected item back to the first item in the list. jQuery/jsTree function currently reseting textbox and hidden field:
$('#ContentPlaceHolder1_hfNodeID').val('');
$('.txtPage').val('');
$('.rblContentTypesGetAll').val();
$('.contentPageForm').show(),
.rblContentTypesGetAll is the radiobuttonlist i want to reset (or select the top most listitem).
HTML of the form:
<asp:Panel ID="PagesForm" CssClass="contentPageForm" runat="server">
<asp:HiddenField ID="hfNodeID" runat="server" Value="" />
<table>
<tr>
<td>Page</td>
<td><asp:TextBox ID="txtPage" CssClass="txtPage" runat="server" /><span class="validate">*</span><br />
<asp:RequiredFieldValidator ID="rfvPage" runat="server" CssClass="validate" ControlToValidate="txtPage" Display="Dynamic" ErrorMessage="Page Name Required" ValidationGroup="page" /></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Content Type</td>
<td>
<asp:RadioButtonList id="rblContentTypesGetAll" CssClass="rblContentTypesGetAll" OnLoad="rblContentTypesGetAll_Load" runat="server" >
</asp:RadioButtonList>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td> <asp:Button ID="Submit" runat="server" OnClick="PageSubmit_Click" Text="Save" ValidationGroup="page" />
<asp:Button ID="Cancel" runat="server" OnClick="Cancel_Click" Text="Cancel" />
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</asp:Panel>

I have a dropdown list that when the selected value changes I want to hide a div. (There is another control that makes the div visible). I currently have the following but the div is not hiding when I change the selected value in the dropdown.
<script type="text/javascript">

$('#buttonDiv').hide();
});
});

I have a series of checkboxes and I would like to append the text value to a div every time and item gets selected, but I'd also like to remove the item from the div's text when an item is deselected.
I'm guessing the best way would be with some sort of an array? Can I get some guidance on this one?
edit: I should have mentioned this is for an ASP.NET checkboxlist (my bad), so my output looks something like this:

I've got two radio buttons in a .net page which are being transformed to jQuery buttons a la [URL]
When the page is loaded I have button 2 as checked. When clicking the buttons I'm firing the postback event. Problem is you can click on that button that is selected by default on the initial load i.e. Button 2, the postback is fired but the event handler isn't called in the .net code behind because the radio button is already classed as selected (and in normal circumstances wouldn't allow the postback to fire).
To get around this I've added the e.PreventDefault() method BUT this is causing issues when Button 1 is clicked because before the click handler is called the button is set to selected. Therefore, in every case in the following code e.PreventDefault() is called:
[Code]....
What is the best way for me to load the page and effectively be able to do the following: 'If rbReceivable is checked then don't do anything otherwise do a postback.'

I want to show a confirm dialog when the user selects an item in a DropDownList. If the user presses "Cancel", I want to stop the postback. Here is the function I add to the onchange event:
function imitateConfirmUnload(event) {
if (window.onbeforeunload = null)
return true;
return confirm("Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page?
You have unsaved changes
Press OK to continue or Cancel to stay on the current page.");
}
And this is the relevant bit of code in my startup script to add the handler to the event:
[code]...
The problem is that the postback occurs even if the user selects "Cancel". If I move the handler on to the click event, it works. But it feels clunky to me.
Edit
Correction: it doesn't work onclick, because the dialog prevents selection, so when the user selects OK, no change has taken place, and no postback when you want it!
Edit 2
The DropDownList is inside an UpdatePanel so that may affect behavior.

I am using jquery tabs(First,Second,Third) in multiple asp.net pages (First.aspx, second.aspx,Third.aspx) in my asp.net website and in each page i am writing the ul,li code.For example in the First.aspx page I am writing the following code inside the 'ul' tag
<li class="current"><a href="#First">First tab</a></li>
<li><a href="Second.aspx">Second tab</a></li>
<li><a href="Third.aspx">Third tab</a></li>
Similarly in the second.aspx,Third.aspx pages i am using the Class="current" to highlight the selected tab.Recently we have planned to move to Master pages.So the master page should contain the ul,li code for the tabs.But the problem is that I do not understand how to apply the class="current" to the selected tab,in the case of the master page.

I am using the jQueryUI buttonset on an ASP.NET radiobuttonlist. I need to get the selected value in server-side code when the page posts back. If I don't apply the jQuery buttonset, this is of course easy enough - just grab "SelectedValue". However, when I do apply jQuery buttonset, the selected value does not appear to be available on postback any longer. Is there any way around this, or do I need to get the selected value on clientside, and then pass it back myself?
<asp:RadioButtonList ID="RadioButtonList0" CssClass="ratingButtons" runat="server">
<asp:ListItem Text="Option1" Value="1"/>
<asp:ListItem Text="Option2" Value="2" />
<asp:ListItem Text="Option" Value="3" />
<asp:ListItem Text="Option4" Value="4" />
</asp:RadioButtonList>
$(function () {
$(".ratingButtons").buttonset();
$(".ratingButtons").click(function () { return false; });
});

Not sure if this can be done. The requirement is to change the font for part of the text in a textbox when a semi-colon (keyCode 186) is typed. This is an ASP.NET 3.5 app. Our corporate environment only uses IE so there are no cross-browser compatability issues. I have written this much so far in jQuery:
[Code]....
This is pretty close. As soon as the first semi-colon is typed, the font of the entire textbox changes to italics. As soon as the second semi-colon is typed, the font changes back. The requirement is that the font be normal until the first semi-colon is typed and then everything between the first and second semi-colon must be in italics. After the second semi-colon, the remaining characters must revert back to normal. This is an example of the text correctly formatted: This is the start; of the string and this is; the end of the string.
Is it possible to change the font style of only the middle part of the text string? If so, it probably involves creating a range that starts with is the whatever character position of the first semi-colon + 1 and ending at the second semi-colon, right? I just can't seem to wrap my head around this one.
