Jquery - Set RadioButtonList First ListItem As Selected

Mar 8, 2011

I am using jquery and c# to dynamically set a radiobuttonlist listitem to selected. I want to create a reset-type button to reset the radiobuttonlist selected item back to the first item in the list. jQuery/jsTree function currently reseting textbox and hidden field:

$('#ContentPlaceHolder1_hfNodeID').val('');
$('.txtPage').val('');
$('.rblContentTypesGetAll').val();
$('.contentPageForm').show(),
.rblContentTypesGetAll is the radiobuttonlist i want to reset (or select the top most listitem).
HTML of the form:
<asp:Panel ID="PagesForm" CssClass="contentPageForm" runat="server">
<asp:HiddenField ID="hfNodeID" runat="server" Value="" />
<table>
<tr>
<td>Page</td>
<td><asp:TextBox ID="txtPage" CssClass="txtPage" runat="server" /><span class="validate">*</span><br />
<asp:RequiredFieldValidator ID="rfvPage" runat="server" CssClass="validate" ControlToValidate="txtPage" Display="Dynamic" ErrorMessage="Page Name Required" ValidationGroup="page" /></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Content Type</td>
<td>
<asp:RadioButtonList id="rblContentTypesGetAll" CssClass="rblContentTypesGetAll" OnLoad="rblContentTypesGetAll_Load" runat="server" >
</asp:RadioButtonList>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td> <asp:Button ID="Submit" runat="server" OnClick="PageSubmit_Click" Text="Save" ValidationGroup="page" />
<asp:Button ID="Cancel" runat="server" OnClick="Cancel_Click" Text="Cancel" />
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</asp:Panel>

Get Radiobuttonlist Selected Value In Code Behind When Using JQuery Buttonset?

Sep 20, 2010

I am using the jQueryUI buttonset on an ASP.NET radiobuttonlist. I need to get the selected value in server-side code when the page posts back. If I don't apply the jQuery buttonset, this is of course easy enough - just grab "SelectedValue". However, when I do apply jQuery buttonset, the selected value does not appear to be available on postback any longer. Is there any way around this, or do I need to get the selected value on clientside, and then pass it back myself?

<asp:RadioButtonList ID="RadioButtonList0" CssClass="ratingButtons" runat="server">
<asp:ListItem Text="Option1" Value="1"/>
<asp:ListItem Text="Option2" Value="2" />
<asp:ListItem Text="Option" Value="3" />
<asp:ListItem Text="Option4" Value="4" />
</asp:RadioButtonList>
$(function () {
$(".ratingButtons").buttonset();
$(".ratingButtons").click(function () { return false; });
});

Add A Label To A RadioButtonList ListItem?

Mar 3, 2010

I have a RadioButtonList with two ListItems included:

<asp:RadioButtonList runat="server" ID="optRollover" OnSelectedIndexChanged="RolloverOptionSelected" AutoPostBack="true">
<asp:ListItem Value="0">100% </asp:ListItem>
<asp:ListItem Value="1">Less than 100%</asp:ListItem>
</asp:RadioButtonList><br />

On the first ListItem I need to have a label that displays some text from the code behind of the page. Logically it seems to me like I would be able to do something like this: 100% Obviously this does not work because I am getting an error: The 'Text' property of 'asp:ListItem' does not allow child objects.

Web Forms :: Can't Use Tags With RadioButtonList And ListItem?

Jan 11, 2010

I have a RadioButtonList with three ListItems, like this:

[Code]....

TrueRuleCondition, FalseRuleCondition, and CustomRuleCondition are protected constants in the code-behind file that I want to use as the values for my listitems. Unfortunately, the values get treated as literal values instead of having the values of the variables inserted. Does anyone know of a way to do this or why this doesn't work as I expect it to?

Set ListItem Value To Constant For RadioButtonList In ASPX

Sep 23, 2010

I must be doing something wrong here but I can't find an easy way to get this to work. Imagine the following code:

<asp:RadioButtonList ID="MyRadioButtonList" runat="server">
<asp:ListItem Value="<%= CompanyName.SystemName.Constants.PaymentFrequency.FREQUENT.ToString() %>" Text="Yes" Selected="True"></asp:ListItem>
<asp:ListItem Value="<%= CompanyName.SystemName.Constants.PaymentFrequency.ONCE.ToString() %>" Text="No, Just do this once"></asp:ListItem>
</asp:RadioButtonList>

But it doesn't compile the statement before it renders the page. So if I get the selected value of this radiobuttonlist it contains something like "<%= Compan... %>" instead of what my constant defines.

Forms Data Controls :: Add ListItem Programatically With On Item Selected?

Jan 22, 2011

I have a DropDownList on my aspx page and wanted to add ListItem programatically. The item will start from 2 years ago to 1 year later (e.g. from 2009 to 2012) so if the year change, it will be automatic. I also want the current year to be selected by default.
In the code behind, I did this:

For i As Integer = (DateTime.Now.Year - 3) To (DateTime.Now.Year + 1)
DropDownList1.Items.Add(i.ToString())
Next
DropDownList1.SelectedItem.Text = DateTime.Now.Year

As result, I'm having the items in this order: 2011 (selected), 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012. The 2011 is duplicated (I wonder why). When I view the source page on Internet Explorer, I have this:

<option selected="selected" value="2011">2011</option>
<option value="2009">2009</option>
<option value="2010">2010</option>
<option value="2011">2011</option>
<option value="2012">2012</option>

Radiobuttonlist - Cannot Tab Through All Radio Buttons When Selected

Jan 20, 2010

I'm trying to implement accessibility (keyboard only) ability on my site, but I'm having problems with Radio Button lists. When using radiobuttonlists, when initially, none of the radio buttons is selected, I am able to tab through every single value and select one upon hitting "enter". However, after a value is selected, I can only tab to the selected values, which presents a problem if I want to change the selected value.

From what I understand, radio buttons are grouped at the container controller level, thus when it is considered a group, only one can be selected at a time.

Setting The "Selected" Property Of .NET ListItem (HTML Generic Control)?

Mar 8, 2011

For reasons outside my control I have a table containing input and select fields built using regular HTML with the runat="server" attribute (as opposed to standard ASP.NET controls). I am trying to set a value to be selected when the page is loaded based on values being passed from the Session (again, factor outside my control).

Setting the Selected property of the list item does nothing and doesn't select the item in question. How do I achieve this?

The code is basically this (names generic-ized):

HtmlSelect dropdownList = ((HtmlSelect)myTable.Rows[0].Cells[5].FindControl("DropdownList");
DataSet allListItems = this.GetDefaultListItems();
foreach (DataRow row in allListItems.Tables[0].Rows) [code]....

the Select portion doesn't work, although it gets executed on the proper item. Should this code be called in a specific event? I believe it's being called in Page_Load; should it be called in Pre_Render instead?

VS 2010 - Radiobuttonlist Reverts From Selected Item

Apr 24, 2012

II am populating a radiobuttonlist in code on page load, although not when postback is true (I've checked this by the way).

Autopostback is set to true, viewstate is enabled (everywhere I can think of, although only in the content page, if that matters)

When I select an item, the postback happens, the populating does not happen, and the selection reverts back to the first item, which was never selected.

Nowadays I have the knowledge to do this in javascript, but I would prefer not to. It can't be that it should work like this, can it? The control would be useless. I want the index that is selected.
