JQuery :: Highlight A Different Element Based On The Result Of A Validator?
Feb 4, 2011
Im trying to highlight a different element based on the result of a validator.
My form looks like this in structure:
LABEL TEXTBOX VALIDATION CONTROL
When the validation control becomes invalid, I also want the label to change colour.
There are examples of code on the MS website - here is a javascript sample:
[Code]....
isValid always defaults to false and therefore always displays red.

I have a table in SQL Server with structure:
Students
(
StudentId bigint,
FullName nvarchar(100),
DegreeId smallint,
Articel nvarchar(max)
)
i have created a full text index and enabled it for "students" table.
in my asp.net page ,users type words and i call a stored proc filter students using these words.
Create Procedure GetStudents(@Article nvarchar(200)=typed words)
AS
BEGIN
SET NOCOUNT ON
SELECT StudentId,FullName,DegreeId,Article
FROM Students
WHERE WHERE FREETEXT(Article,'''+ @Article+''')
END
The search works fine ,now i need to highlight(yellow background)the "articles" of returned stuents in my asp.net page(by jquery,or asp.net).

I would like to select an element that is in the same TR as another element I found with a selector. The selector itself: $("input[name='sMessageValue']","#messageTable") Now I have this element and got its value I would like to find a checkbox located in the same TR, i tried this as starting point : $(this).(':parent').val(). But seems not the right thing to do.

I know the built-in ASP.Net validators come with a client-side framework, however I've been unable to find anything that lets me check a single validator for it's Valid state.
The validator in question is a RegularExpressionValidator, which I use to determine whether an e-mail address is valid or not.
Here's some brief code:

This question is related to this question: Given System.Type T, Deserialize List Given this function to retrieve a list of all elements.
public static List<T> GetAllItems<T>()
{
XmlSerializer deSerializer = new XmlSerializer(typeof(List<T>));
TextReader tr = new StreamReader(GetPathBasedOnType(typeof(T)));
List<T> items = (List<T>)deSerializer.Deserialize(tr);
tr.Close();
}
I want to create a function to retrieve just one item of those with the needed UID (Unique ID):
public static System.Object GetItemByID(System.Type T, int UID)
{
IList mainList = GetAllItems<typeof(T)>();
System.Object item = null;
if (T == typeof(Article))
item = ((List<Article>)mainList).Find(
delegate(Article vr) { return vr.UID == UID; });
else if (T == typeof(User))
item = ((List<User>)mainList).Find(
delegate(User ur) { return ur.UID == UID; });
return item;
}
However, this does not work since GetAllItems<typeof(T)>(); call is not properly formed. Question 1a: How can I fix the second function to properly return a unique element, given that all classes that will call GetItemByID() have UID as an element in them? I'd love to be able to do public static <T> GetItemByID<T>(int UID) if possible. Same question, but suppose I cannot modify the function prototype of GetItemByID?

I know how to use a simple If statement wrapped in the <%# tags to hide something, but I don't know how to do it in a repeater when I need to access Container.DataItem, as in I need the dataItem currently being 'repeated'
eg
if (CurrentValidationMessage.Link != "")
{
show a hyperlink
}
Markup:
<asp:Repeater ID="repValidationResults" runat="server">
<HeaderTemplate>
</HeaderTemplate>
<ItemTemplate>
<a href='<%# ((MttImportValidationMessage)Container.DataItem).EditLink %>'> Link to erroneous Milestone </a>
<%# ((MttImportValidationMessage)Container.DataItem).Message %>
<br />
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:Repeater>

I am working on a web application and I want to incorporate the jQuery Highlight functionality. The way it is set up now is there is a gridview with a link button to add an entry. When you select the link button to add an entry a form appears to fill out all of the information. Once the information is filled out and the user selects "Insert" I would like to have the insert onClick function in the code behind somehow activate the jQuery Highlight command. I can not seem to get this to work.

i have two update panels as follows (when linkbutton is clicked i'm trying to highlight div)
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate>
<asp:Linkbutton id="btnChange" runat="server"
[code]...
I'm overriding OnLoadComplete and registering this script on page as follows
ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(Me, Me.GetType(), "divHigh", "$('#shdr').effect('highlight', {}, 3000);", True)
This highlights the div after postback but the timeout value doesn't work it continues to show highlighted color and doesn't change back.

I'm adding hotkeys to a web application in order to enable keyboard shortcuts for our CSRs to use, to reduce injury and increase calls-per-hour. I'm using an ASP.net UserControl to inject javascript into the page and it's working great. I want the control to "just work", so that when hotkeys are assigned, using a declarative syntax, if the hotkeyed letter exists in the link text, it will be highlighted automatically, so the developer doesn't have to do anything, and also to maintain consistency in visual cues. Here's the code to assign hotkeys, if it matters:
<uc:HotKeysControl ID="theHotkeys" runat="server" Visible="true">
<uc:HotKey ControlName="AccStatus$btnInvoiceEverBill" KeyCode="ctrl+v" />
<uc:HotKey ControlName="AccStatus$btnRefund" KeyCode="ctrl+u" />
<uc:HotKey ControlName="thirdControl" KeyCode="ctrl+p" />
</uc:HotKeysControl>
I want something like:
<a href="whatever" name="thirdControl">Make a <span class=hotkey">P</span>ayment</a>
but I'm not married to the idea of injecting a <span/> in there if there's a better way. How can I do this in CSS or JQuery? Is there a way to pass in a letter to a CSS style and have it change the color of the text displayed? Should I generate javascript to highlight the text when the page loads? What would/did you do in this situation?

<p class="p-article">

I'd like to filter these articles by search keywords .for example when a user search for "Startup Marketing".
I want to apply the keywords as a filter and get articles and bring those that contain "Startup" or "Marketing" or "Startup Marketinbg".And this in client side by jquery if possible.

I have a scenario which is there's a gridview with remove button and also a textbox.
Example:
The value of textbox is 2, and rows of gridview is 5 so the rows from 3-5 will be highlighted. And if the user removed the first row, the highlight should be follow. The highlighted row now is 3-4.
The remove button is jquery also.
See photo for more clarifications ....
