Keep Upload Image Control Value In Textbox
Aug 9, 2010
i am using file upload control in ASP.NET for uploading images. In my form there are two buttons.one for assigning criteria which redirects to other form and other for submitting form. After assigning criteria only the user has to use submit button. My problem is when is upload image and click on AssignCriteria button and return back to original page,the upload control is getting blank. How to keep that upload image control value in that textbox even if we redirected to other page and come back.

We have a scenario where we would like to allow our users to upload images to the site. We are running on ASP.Net. A quick search did not result in anything good. It would be great if the control is free/open source but we do not mind paying a little bit.

I use these code to uploading image
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="Upbdt" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate>
<asp:ModalPopupExtender DropShadow="true" ID="ModalPopupExtender"
PopupControlID="PnPopup" runat="server" TargetControlID="BtnPopup"
>
</asp:ModalPopupExtender>
[Code] ....
behind code
protected void BtnUpload_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) {
string path = Server.MapPath(".") + "../Upload";
string[] validext = { ".jpg", ".gif", ".png", ".rar" };
string ext =
System.IO.Path.GetExtension(AsyncFileUpload1.PostedFile.FileName);
if (Array.IndexOf(validext, ext.ToLower()) < 0)
[Code] ....
Here in UpdatePanel i have 2 lable :1-lable20 and 2-lblMessage
These lable show error message when Extension and size of image are out of limit.
Problem is when i.e I upload .rar file and click on BtnUpload button it exit from popup window and i cant't see error message i should click on upload button again untill again show popup window after that i can see error message
I want it doesn't exit from popup window until user enter correct format of image if they don't enter correct format they can see error on popup window.

In my ASP.NET project, I want to add a facility to my page so that when the user clicks a button, a 'browse file' dialog box directly opens up. After he selects the file in the dialog box, I want to save that image on the server, and update an imagebox based on that selection.
Is there some sort of dynamic 'browse for file' type dialog box that I can use?

i am working on an ecommerce application, user will be uploading several images of a product, instead of stripping the size (i.e the KB or MB size) after uploading it on the server, i want to strip the size of image before uploading it to the server ( bringing the size from any thing over 30KB down to 30KB) i.e on the client machine itself and then upload it to the server. i understand that this requires a download on the client machine which makes me ask the following questions :
a. can i use a java control in dotnet since java control can be used on all OSes
b. is there any dotnet control that might be userfriendly to all OSes

I have read about the file upload control in asp.net and tried it and works great. But I want to know if I can use it for another purpose. I have a video capture control that can be used for webcam apps or anything else. It has a method called HTTPUpload where it will upload an image file to the server using the HTTP upload protocol. My question is can i use the .net FileUpload control for this? And if so, how can I pass the image file straight to the .aspx page without having to submit a button? Would the file be as a query string variable?
Arguments:
WebServer = web server address
WebPage = name of upload web page
Fields = list of 'fieldname' and 'fieldvalue' values delimited with '|'
Files = list of 'fieldname' and 'file path' values delimited with '|'
Returns TRUE if successful, or FALSE otherwise.
Example
vcx.HTTPUpload "[URL] , "upload.asp",
"field1|value1|field2|value2" ,
"file1|c:foldermypic.jpg|file2|c:foldermyvideo.avi"

So I'm passing data from Form1 to Form2. The data that gets passed to Form2 populates a textbox. I would also like for an image to show up based on what shows up in the textbox.
For example, I passed the name "Chicago Bulls" to txtteam. I want seatingchart.jpg to show up once it recognizes "Chicago Bulls". Here's the code I started under page_load to get it started.

I want to access one image file residing in C: of the client's machine. I know with the help of file upload control (or say input type=file), this would be easy. Due to nature of my application (Its a KIOSK application), user is not expected to select file. I am just wondering how should I implement reading file without using file upload control. I want to store this file in Images folder of server. I am beginner to WCF. Should I look towards WCF?

I'm using a slightly modified version of Valum's upload [github link], I've modified it to upload to a database but haven't modified the javascript that it is using to get the file into the Request as an InputStream. The following line of code is failing in IE 8 but is confirmed to work in Chrome. using (Image imgInput = Image.FromStream(Request.InputStream)) The error received is "Parameter not valid". It appears to be having an issue with the Input Stream being used but it exists/has data (not sure how to validate if the data is good or not).
