List Name Of Controls Which Are Displayed Same In All Browers
Aug 16, 2010
This question is asked in Technical interview. I was asked to list controls which will display same way in all browsers(IE, Safari, FirFox) without any problems(rendering, positioning.. etc.)
I have a listview that is displaying records currently based on a dropdown.. works great.. now, within those results returned, i would like to filter down some more.. How can i add a dropdownlist to the page that is populated with data from the listview(only 1 field would be used to create the list ) and if you chose to filter by that drop down, then the listview is revised to display only records with the selected value.
Example..
Currently you pick from a drop down.. Report#1, Report#2 or Report#3 Say report#1 returns 100 records.. and the field im going to be filtering on is my "Vendor" field.. so once my listview displays my results, a dropdownlist is populated with all the vendors that were returned with the query.. could just be a few..
Now you are sitting there paging thru all the records.. and realize you really just need to see out of the 100 records, records that belong to Vendor#3, so you pick #3 from the drop downlist and the procedure is called again now filtering on that vendor..
I have a listview with a nested gridview. I'm having trouble accessing the gridview. I want the gridview to be filled and displayed when a linkbutton is clicked on the listview. I use FindControl to get linkbutton - but cannot get it to work for the nested gridview. I have gridview working outside the listview, but it fails when nested. Snippet:
asp.net Code: <asp:ListView> ............... <SelectedItemTemplate> <tr > <td> <asp:Label ID="BuildingLabel" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("Building") %>' CommandName="Select"/> </td> <td> <asp:Label ID="AreaOccupied_m2Label" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("[AreaOccupied m2]") %>' /> </td> </tr> <tr><td colspan = "2"> </td> </tr> <tr><td colspan = "2"> <asp:Panel ID="pnlInnerGrid" runat="server"> <asp:GridView ID="GridViewBlocksInner" runat="server"> </asp:GridView> </asp:Panel></td></tr> </SelectedItemTemplate> </asp:ListView> 'Code Behind: Protected Sub ListViewBuildings_SelectedIndexChanging(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As ListViewSelectEventArgs) 'FindControl for linkbutton Works Dim item As ListViewItem = CType(ListViewBuildings.Items(e.NewSelectedIndex), ListViewItem) Dim l As LinkButton = CType(item.FindControl("BuildingLabel"), LinkButton) 'FindControl for gridview Does Not Work Dim gitem As ListViewItem = CType(ListViewBuildings.Items(e.NewSelectedIndex), ListViewItem) Dim gv As GridView = CType(item.FindControl("GridViewBlocksInner"), GridView) Try dsBlocks = SqlHelper.ExecuteDataset( _ DBConnectionString, CommandType.StoredProcedure, _ "procName", New SqlParameter("@Site", strSite)) 'Next line gives Error: gv.DataSource = dsBlocks gv.DataBind() Catch ex As Exception lblMessage.Text = lblMessage.Text & " Error: " + ex.ToString End Try
I have an AutoCompleteExtender control tied to a textbox. If the user starts typing in it, a drop down pops up displaying the a list with the matching suggestions. If, while the list is being displayed, the user hits the Tab key, the textbox loses focus and its value gets overwritten with whatever choice was highlighted in the list.
The problem is when the user clicks outside the list, I want to achieve the same behavior. It currently keeps whatever the user had typed (before the choice list pops up), but I would like for the textbox to get the value of the last highlighted choice (just as if they hit Tab).
I'm able to capture the event, when the user clicks outside the list, but I can't seem to find how to get to the highlighted value from the choice list.
where each entry has some HTML text and an associated Name and ID.
What I want to do in ASP.net C# is to list each of these entries on a page in such a way that the HTML text should be displayed exactly how it is meant to be (e.g. <b>test</b> should show 'test' in bold) and each entry should be editable. When the Edit button is clicked on an entry, the HTML text should be replaced by a textbox with the text inside it so that you can edit it and save it.
For example:
FOOTER --EditButton--
TEXT test
Now I am not sure on what is the best way to do this. Should I use a repeater with an ItemTemplate for each entry? If I use a repeater, and an edit button is clicked, how do I know which edit button is clicked and how do I know which textbox to display the text etc?
Description:- hello code given below is working fine in i.e. and other but not working in all mozila version.javascript is simple to devide two textbox's value. you can easily understand.

I've got a Varchar2 field in my table which I want to convert to a CLOB. I am unsure whether the data would get truncated when selected. If so, what is the limit and does it depend on the database settings?
In my TOAD or SQLPLUS window it gets truncated but this may just be the environment settings. I'm not sure whether it would get truncated in my actual application (I can test this, but up to what size should I test?)
If it does get truncated, what's the best way to display the whole CLOB? There are other fields in my SELECT query, so I think I can't just loop through multiple rows. Is there any way out?
I been stack for the last few days trying to figure out the SilverLight 4 LineSeries graph, for some strange reason the graph being displayed but the line not being displayed. I am pretty sure that my mistake is something very basic but I been straggling to pinpoint the problem by myself.Bellow is the code that I having problem with.
I have a website that uses the ajax control toolkit targeting 3.5. We use tabs control on a few pages. On some client computers the tab control is not displayed. It doesn't collapse the are like it has a placeholder for the control but nothing shows up. No error message is given. Has anyone experienced similar problems.

I'm having a problem displaying all data from a couple of database tables in a GridView. Only one row is displayed. I have my SQL query posted in the "SQL Server etc..." forum, and I'm posting the code here in case there's something wrong with how I display the data in the GridView. The GridView should display 2 rows, but displays only 1.
I am uploading an image from website and saving its path in the databse and the image in the images folder in the project. But the image is not being displayed when I assign the path in the databse in the image url and my datalist image.
SqlCommand cmd3 = new SqlCommand(); cmd3.Connection = con; cmd3.CommandText = "insert into prod_details(prod_img,etc) values(@img,etc)"; string filename = Path.GetFileName(FileUpload1.FileName);

I have an idea that the slases "/" are not exactly right. How can i chage that and get the image to display?
I'm a college intern at a small software company. I'm a novice when it comes to ASP.net and Expression Web, so sorry if these are obvious questions.
1. After figuring out how to get fields calculated before they get displayed (did this with SQL), I need to find a way to put certain characters before the output in the fields. I'm fairly certain this is done with a template field, but I have no idea how to touch those without making them blow up.
2. I would also like to have color in the GridViews rows or cells depending on a value returned from the database. Again, I think this would be done with template fields.
3. Thirdly, I need to be able to limit the characters in a few cells. I've searched and found some answers with this, but still Template fields go right over my head.
I am having a problem. I need to check to see if a row has been displayed once, and if so don't display it again. I have the following code:
[Code]....
This all works perfectly, but displays the body row repeatedly. So i need to add a counter or something to check this and make sure it is only displayed once..
I tried with DISTINCT in the sql but that didn't work, so i think it may be better doing it through iteration? Can this be done?
I have drop down list box that I would like to show two columns, is this possible? Or can it be done with a list box?The query correctly retrieves all of the table data to be displayed, one colum is an abbreviation, the other a bit longer description.
I have a databound dropdownlist and have a problem with the default value it selects. When I attempt to edit a record the dropdownlist shows the first value in the list rather than the current value. I want the dropdown list to display the current value.
I'm sure this is very simple but I'm very new to ASP.NET.
I'm using a ListView control and have everything working the way I want, except the display of the data. I have an asp:Label control for each field, and if I have "Text='<%# Eval("MinimumValue") %>' " everything works fine, except the dollar values from the database are displayed as decimal values (how they are stored in the database). I tried adding .ToString("C") to the end of the Eval and I keep getting the same error. I've included the block of tests (with error) from my immediate window. Is the problem just that I'm on the aspx page and need to do formatting in the code behind?
I'm having some difficulties displaying/enabling a link within a gridView but I only want to show it if the formType is equal to 'additional' This doesn't seem to working, Here's my link, inside a TemplateField:
[Code]....
Is it possible to achive this? As currently the link is displayed for all 'formType' and not just for "additional" as intended?
I have a query that joins two tables (in Linq) so I usethe result as an Iqueryable. I want the Query result to be displayed in a gridview, but for some reason I see nothing on the gridview.(I also tried without the join and just using the IQueryable result -and still nothing)
[Code]....
why is doesn't work, or link me to an examlple that is similar - (Also is there another way to use the result of a "join" not as IQueryable)
The values in one of the fields in my GridView's table are just either a zero or a one or a null. Well, "zero," "one," and "" are not very appropriate values to display to the end user. Is there a way I could change these to "True"/"False"/"NA" or "Yes"/"No"/"NA"?
i need to change the images getting displayed in gridview as per IMAGE_ID selection...which is kept in a dropdownlist...is it possible...
this is my code where when user selects image_id and logo_id from two different dropdownlist...accordingly images and logos will be displayed on two gridviews...but when user is changing data in dropdownlist the gridview doesnot reflects the change
