Localization :: Converting Existing Website To Multilingual Support?

Aug 29, 2010

I have developed a asp.net website. Now what i want is that it should be multilingual.I don't want a page to be multilingual.I want the whole website to be multilinual.I used the Culture settings as

System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = new System.Globalization.CultureInfo("zh-HK"); System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = new System.Globalization.CultureInfo("zh-HK");

This is the setting i used for the culture but my website didn;t got converted.I searched a lot on google but not able to find any solution. Also the resource files process a bit too hard Please let me know how i can achieve this.Using some free third party tool or some jquery or some javascript code or some asp.net implementations which i can complete quickly.

Localization :: Multilanguage Support In Existing Application?

Jun 7, 2010

I am little confused regarding the concepts of localisation and globalization.I was working on a project which was totally database driven. All the data, images and flash stuff was coming from the database. Now the site is fully loaded with the data. Now the client wants the currently running site in 5 different languages. So I read the resource files concept. Now the confusion arises. I have 2 types data on the site, one is static(ie text on labels, titles, buttons) and dynamic data that was added from the admin panel. Now my question is: If at this stage I want to make the site in 5 different languages, then I have to make the resource files for all those languages so that the static data can be displayed in different languages. But what about the dynamic data that was entered by the client. Client uploaded huge amount of data. Should I make the changes in the database tables and add 4 other columns for different languages and again upload that much data in those 4 languages.

Localization - How To Support Multiple Languages In A Web Application

Jul 15, 2010

I am working on a web forms application that needs to support multiple languages based on a user's preference. Here are some considerations to keep in mind about the needed solution:

I want to avoid using resource files to store the different text translations because I'd like the ability to change them without having to recompile and deploy the application.

Also the translations ideally need to be adminstratable.

It seems its a considerable amount of effort to add this support to an existing application.

Html - Implementing Multilingual Website?

May 8, 2010

I am implementing an multilingual web site using ASP.Net. The languages are English,French and Arabic. Please note that Arabic's direction is RTL. What is the best way to implement the multilingual support. I am planning to use the .Net localization feature but the website texts are stored in DB. For the controls ( form controls) , I can used resx file. Do I need to build two different pages ( one for LTR and another for RTL )? Or can I have one ASPx file for all the three languages?

I would like to hear some best practices in implementing these kind of web applications.

Converting Existing Classic ASP Pages

Mar 24, 2011

I am trying to convert existing classic ASP webpages to ASP.NET. I dont have a lot of knowledge in the area. This is what i currently have. I use a Microsoft Access to pass data to tables in a Oracle Database. I then have .asp pages that pull data from the oracle tables. I just recently installed Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate and i want to start converting my .asp pages to .aspx. I have never used Visual Studio before so I am stuck at the beginning of this process. Do i start by creating a new ASP.NET Web application? I know there are things i need to add to the Webconfig file too but i dont know exactly what.
