View 1 RepliesI'm using MS SQL 2000, VS2008, MVC and C#.
I'm trying to insert and update some data using stored procedures. Some columns are of type datetime. Regional settings on both server and client are set to Dutch (Belgium) This means the default date format is dd/mm/yyyy. When i try to insert or update with a date of eg. 28/03/2009, I get following errors:
Insert:
Error converting data type nvarchar to datetime
Update:
The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value
When I try with a date like 01/03/2009, I get no errors but the date is saved as 03/01/2009, which is the US date format. This is typical behaviour for problems with regional settings. But both are set to Dutch (Belgium).
Is it possible to change the format of the date returned by the calendarextender based on regional settings?
Also, is it possible to tell the datetime object how the date string is formatted?
I have develop a web application. I have put my web application in my server and user can access from any location.
My server regional and setting is English (US). Now my problem is
1) When user access to my system and his pc setting is English (UK), it will prompt and error
and after i debug i suspect it is because of Datetime conflict (dd/MM/yyyy and MM/dd/yyyy)
2) I cannot fix or limit my user to setting his/her pc regional setting to UK
So what can i do in my web application solve this issue?
(Can i write any code in my client side (.aspx) to convert or do standardization to US)
I am working on an ASP.net web application, the application need to display text in English, Chinese and Japanese based on the parameters passed, however the culture settings such as currency symbol, time and number format should remain as en-US locale.
My understanding about ASP.Net localization is a package deal, am I wrong? If I am right, the only way to do this is to roll my own solution?
Our application has a database varchar field which at times store datetime values. Code is not formatting the date time values before storing.
Now the issue is coming when we are trying to restore database from our deployment server
to local server and then run the application.Dates are getting stored in format 'dd/mm/yyyy' [ex 31/12/2009] on deployment machine [EN-UK]however when we have restored DB and then try to run application on local server it throws invalid datetime exception, probably because it is expecting
datetime in 'mm/dd/yyyy' format [EN-US] (Dont know why !!).
The code base for our ASP.NET application is deployed into server machines with Regional and local settings as English-UK. However our local servers have regional settings as English-US we changed the regional settings from Control Panel to En-UK however still same error is coming !!
I have this in the system.web section of web.config:
[Code]....
Elsewhere, I have this code:
[Code]....
There's nothing clever going on in the dataset - it's a simple SELECT. Everything works fine when my browser has the default settings. But, as soon as I change the browser language to cy-GB, the line of code above fails with:
[Code]....
I'm probably missing something obvious, but can't see why changing the language in the browser causes a [seemingly] unrelated data retrieval operation to fail.
My masterpage for my website has the Login control which sits right on my main nav bar. The problem I have is that I'm currently not detecting the current page hence not setting the ReturnUrl parameter. So when the user clicks login and goes through the login process, he/she is sent back to the home page.
How can I set the ReturnUrl while still keeping the Login control in the master page?
Is there no way to detect if the current request is being mapped via ASP.NET 4.0 URL routing?
I have an HTTP module that handles the application's BeginRequest event. I have found that this handler is called for all file types, including CSS, JS, image files, etc., and I just want to perform an action if the target file is an ASPX page.
In the case of routed pages, all the properties of the HttpRequest object reflect the requested URL, and not the ASPX page that the request is being mapped to. How can I determine if the request will be handled by an ASPX file?
I found this code:
AspNetHostingPermissionLevel GetCurrentTrustLevel() {
foreach (AspNetHostingPermissionLevel trustLevel in
new AspNetHostingPermissionLevel [] {
AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.Unrestricted,
AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.High,
AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.Medium,
AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.Low,
AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.Minimal
} ) {
try {
new AspNetHostingPermission(trustLevel).Demand();
}
catch (System.Security.SecurityException ) {
continue;
}
return trustLevel;
}
return AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.None;
}
Get current ASP.NET Trust Level programmatically):
but for C#, and would like to have it for VB.NET. Any chance of someone expert in both VB.NET and C# that can translate this to VB code?
I tried myself and got the following VB.NET code but it generates an error inside my VWD:
Private Function GetCurrentTrustLevel() As AspNetHostingPermissionLevel
For Each trustLevel As AspNetHostingPermissionLevel In New _
AspNetHostingPermissionLevel() {AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.Unrestricted, _
AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.High, AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.Medium, _
AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.Low, AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.Minimal}
Try
New AspNetHostingPermission(trustLevel).Demand()
Catch generatedExceptionName As System.Security.SecurityException
Continue Try
End Try
Return trustLevel
Next
Return AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.None
End Function
These parts seems to be wrong:
New AspNetHostingPermission(trustLevel).Demand()
and
Continue Try
Obviously, need to be handled by someone fluent in both C# and VB.NET and can spot the errors in VB.NET
URL...I need to select a proper SQL procedure based on a current culture selected by a user and I need to select it inside the web service.Example:
Using cmd As New SqlCommand()
cmd.CommandText = "dbo.Search_ItemsInFullText_" & Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture.TwoLetterISOLanguageName
cmd.CommandType = Data.CommandType.StoredProcedure
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@SearchText", prefix)
cmd.Connection = conn
conn.Open()
but this does not work.How can I detect a current culture in a web service?
exactly as the question subject states - any ideas on how you might do this?I've been looking over the objects in System.Web.Hosting but nothing is standing out.
he reason? I'm getting one or two application errors which are typically occuring during a recycle (they happen about 25 hours apart and I've left my app pool recycle time at the default) and so I want to know if they're happening on a thread that's in the pool that's shutting down, or the one that's start(ed/ing) up.
I am trying to connect forex trade server from my asp.net application. I am using MT4 Api for connecting. Its installed successfully and added to .net code library. But when i trying to create object of MetaTrader Class i got exception
The current configuration system does not support user-scoped settings.
There is no compile time error in code. I am getting run time exception.
There are the urls where i got some hope for solution but could not able to implement.

I recently bought domain and hosting from godaddy.com and uploaded my website files based on asp.net on server.
The problem is when i run Default.aspx file in visual studio it runs properly but same set set of files when ran after uploading on server gives error in web.config file.
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.
Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

web admin tool to configure settings for your application. Use
the Website->Asp.Net Configuration option in Visual Studio.

I am working on a multi-language web site. It is half English and half Portuguese. I have created forms that have portuguese values in it. These forms work perfectly on my desktop. I'm using Cassini as the development server. When I move them over to IIS, they are not loading properly. The text comes up all weird looking. I am declaring the culture in the page attribute: Culture="pt-BR"
View 4 Repliesi have three master pages and some contents pages in my project.
in content page i have wrote below script:
[Code]....
And i have a language flags in my master page. so i have created image button for language flag to perform on click action. where On click of language flag (polish) i like to change the content (English) of my page as per the selected flag click.
hence i have wrote in master page:
<asp:ImageButton ID="ImageButton1" runat="server" ImageUrl="../common/images/pol.gif" AlternateText="Polish" />
And in code behind --- ImageButton1_Click
Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = CultureInfo.CreateSpecificCulture("pl-PL")
Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = New CultureInfo("pl-PL")
Response.Write(Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture)
Dim geturl As String
geturl = Request.Url.ToString()
Response.Redirect(geturl)
here the geturl is print with "pl-PL" but the page content is printed with English language.
I want to change page content also as per flag seletion.
i create a simple webpage to test the Localization. i create two pages.
Default.aspx & Welcome.aspx
i use two languages ENglish & FRench. i already created Localized folder & .RESX of both.
but i can change only current page languages. using UIculture.
but i click on the link for Welcome.aspx.... it still show me ENglish, not showing french. Language conversation only going on Default.aspx page.
here is my Coding:-
for DEFAULT.ASPX:
[Code]....
Now what i have to write in welcome's CS file?
When I was localizing my web application I got one strange doubt.
In the first request i set current thread's current culture to user chosen culture. It worked fine for that particular request. But when i browsed for other page, server rendered content in default english culture. I think the reason meight be "http is stateless" means current request is served by a thread whose culture was set properly. Send request will be serverd another thread which does not about previous thread. So we should once again assign culture to this thread. Localization can be done by setting culture to a session variable.
So my question is what is the benifit that we get by setting culture to current thread. With setting to thread we can show the page in user desired language.
we have two identical websites. One located at apac.ourdomain.com and the other at eu.ourdomain.com. The only differences about these websites are one is hosted in Australia, and the other is in London. The databases they backed onto have identical schema, except one is in Australia, and the other is in London, each storing data related to our partners in the region.
What we want to do is implement some form of centralise landing page @ www.ourdomain.com using forms authentication. Once a partner logs on to www.ourdomain.com, we will redirect them to either the apac or the eu server. My challenge is how do I transfer the user credentials from the landing site to the regional site? By Credentials, I mean everything from their username to their roles / permissions. And once a user is redirected to the regional site, how do i get them back to the landing site should they required to modify their details?
I know I will need to have a centralised user details db for the landing site, but it is the communication to and from the regional site afterward that I'm uncertain about.
I use AjaxCalendarExtendar in web form. my code is below: clsDest.ADate = DateTime.Parse(txtADate.Text).Date;
Here 'ADate' field is also a DateTime type. In 'A' laptop, DateTime saving is correct format. In this laptop, Regional and Language Current format is English (United States) - M/d/yyyy. When I save this ADate at another laptop 'B'. DateTime format is wrongly saved. Firstly, this laptop's regional setting is English(Singapore). So I change it to English(United States) but still wrongly saved. Here, the other datetime field, UDate is saved by DateTime.Now. This field's Datetime format is not changed.
Before saving with M/d/yyyy
ADate - 01/08/2010
UDate - 01/25/2010
After saving
ADate - 08/01/2010
UDate - 01/25/2010
We have many different clients, and each client can have multiple user accounts.Right now, we have user settings set up on the ASP project, and a WinForms application can see these settings, depending on which user logs into the winforms application. They are specific to the user. I want to make them specific to the client, so users can be in "groups" by their client, and all users in the group would see/update the same settings.
