Localization :: Detecting Which Nation A Website Viewer Is From?
Jul 23, 2010
I need to detect which nation the website viewer is from so can change some of the website content so it applies to usa instead of uk and also to alter the hyperlinks with regard to their url as amazon's affiliation service needs to point at the usa or uk version of the amazon website for book adverts
I recently started using fusioncharts (which is a great charting tool btw) but I releaized that although it renders Right to Left languages correctly, it does not display them from Right to Left, so if I have "Sales Report" in Arabic, it will be displayed "Report Sales" in the chart.
I dont have a problem with this with static text because I can reverse it before I send it to the chart, but with dynamic text that is entered by the user it is a challenge, because the user may enter the details in English or in Arabic, or in both.
So if I can define the character code used in the sentence then my problem will be solved, and the first thing that came to my mind in order to do this is:
- Take one letter from each word in the string and compare it with the Arabic alphabet (instr function).
- If the function returns true then the letter will be arabic and therefore the whole word will be arabic, I'll store this word in a new string
- If the next word is also Arabic I'll add it to the new string else I will skip it and start a new string for the next words to come.
- After I finish searching the string I will reverse the words in the new string and replace them with their parts in the old string then send them to the chart.
We are looking to create a website that displays information to all new visitors to a site, i.e. welcome,The big problem is that our website is not allowed to use long-lasting cookies (i.e. over 20 minutes). Does anybody know of any way we can determine whether a user has visited the site before or not. As another restriction, we can not add anyform of registration to the system. The application is being created in ASP.Net 3.5.
I have done website designing and i published that website in vs2005 after that i transfer to iis webroot. when i open the report viewer page i got the below error,An error occurred during local report processing. The definition of the report 'Main Report' is invalid. The report definition is not valid. Details: Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1.the same reportviewer page opened when i was upload to webroot without publishing website..i added all report dll file, but i got the above error (published website)
I am trying to localize my wesbite from English to Spanish. The website is built in Spanish. I have done such work perfectly in a html website but i do not have experience with .net localization. I know only Resource files are need to be translated.
i am creating a website in 4 languages. all the labels and buttons should chage as per the users choice. the language details should not be hard coded and it has to come from the databse for each language. Instead of doing it manually(depends upon the language selection fetch the data from the databse and show the labels etc) do we have any inbuild Techno ledge to achieve this in a faster way.
I've got a requirement to develop a Multilingual webform (Chinese, Spanish, Portugese, Russian etc). I am using VS 2005, .NET Framework 2, C# laungauge, SQL 2005.
How i develop multi language website in asp.net for this what steps i need if i already have sqlserver db,design template, requirements stuff and application flow
I want to build multi-language website in asp.net 2008 and asp.net 2010. So, which process is better for building application? Using either Local and Global Resource or New Folder to make separate according to language?
Application performance should be good and also easy manageable.
Iam going to develop the Multilingual website using c# asp.net 3.5 i want to know what things are important to know or from where i can get start any resource or links or help is apperiacted.
I have included googles provided google translate script on websites home page, all it translated is just teh home page not the other pages on the website.I read about googletranslate.api, does any one has any info or an example how to embed teh google translate.api translate feature to whole website.
I have downloaded and reviewed this tutorial [URL] several times. It seems simple enough however the app_GlobalResource file is not working... so here it is.
I downloaded the sample project c# version, the website run nicely except for the global part. When I change the language in IE8 it doesn't change on the page. What is missing, is there something in IE 8 that needs to be turned on or off? I have Win7x64, VS08, IIS running asp 2.0 and IE8.
When I am inside VS08 and use the expressions property the app_GlobalResource link is there (the default) but doesn't switch between the languages.
I would like to develope multilanguage website (English,Deutch) using ASP.Net MVC. Using MVC the URL should have the format (Controller / Action / Identifier) .Now How could I include Language part in URL. Suppose I want addresses like (/EN/Pages/View/xxx).
I have developed a asp.net website. Now what i want is that it should be multilingual.I don't want a page to be multilingual.I want the whole website to be multilinual.I used the Culture settings as
System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = new System.Globalization.CultureInfo("zh-HK"); System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = new System.Globalization.CultureInfo("zh-HK");
This is the setting i used for the culture but my website didn;t got converted.I searched a lot on google but not able to find any solution. Also the resource files process a bit too hard Please let me know how i can achieve this.Using some free third party tool or some jquery or some javascript code or some asp.net implementations which i can complete quickly.
I would like to use the indexing service for search engine of the website. My problem is it can't search any Non-english words, it always return the message "The query contained only ignored words". Unbelievablely, differ result found in differ environments, in my local develop environment (Win XP (Chinese version)) is can search for any words, even non-english keywords. Another environment is server 2003 (English version), which is not work!
So I think it should be environment setting issue rather than .net setting or web.config or any other about the page encode, but i have no idea for how to setup the environment to fix this issue.By the way, my web.config have this setting, which is my googling result =.=
i developing multi language website using Master pages Page_Load i set the Text property of Button Control from Resource file

Button1.Text = GetLocalResourceObject("Button1") then in the button click event i cnage the text of the Button control Button1.Text = GetLocalResourceObject("Button1_new") but the text doesn't change and no error messgae what is the problem how to solve this
