MVC :: Filling JqGrid With JSON String From ViewData In MVC3?

Jan 12, 2011

We are trying to fill JqGrid in ASP.NET MVC3 application where datatype is set to 'jsonstring' and in it's action controller, we set the json data string in ViewData and retrieve the same in javascript function where we used it to fill the Jqgrid.

// Action code

[Code]....

// Javascript code to fill Jqgrid
[Code]....

[Code]....

There is an error while filling grid and when i alert the data it shows " in place of " in data, as below.

{{"total":2,"page":1,"records":2,"rows":[{"RequestID":"1","cell":["CPU","DELL OptiPlex 745","DELL","OptiPlex 745","5"]},{"RequestID":"2","cell":["CPU","TOSHIBA Tablet Portege 3500","TOSHIBA","Tablet Portege 3500","10"]}]}

[data displays fine on this post :) ]

The decodeURI function do not work on strData and it always show " in place of " in the data. We do not want to replace the " with " in a loop as it slow the page with large data.

Feb 25, 2011

{"d":{"key1":"value1",2":"value2"}}s there any way of accessing the keys and values (in javascript) in this array without knowing what the keys are?The reason my json is structured like this is that the webmethod that I'm calling via jquery is returning a dictionary. If it's impossible to work with the above, what do I need to change about the way I'm returning the data?

Public Function Foo(ByVal Input As String) As Dictionary(Of String, String)
Dim Results As New Dictionary(Of String, String)
'code that does stuff

Read An External JSON File Using Json.NET On Page Load?

Dec 29, 2010

I have a text file named gisQuery129.json that is created using Json.NET - [URL] There is an example on how to create a JSON file and I have done that successfully, but I want to read the file on a page load event and add the values to .NET textbox controls for input values in a query. The created file looks like the following:

{
"myData": {
"randomNumber": "129",
"Application": "MyMapApp",
"FeatureId": "ALL",
"Feature": "ALL",
"spatialQuery": "FEATURE_ID= '11111' AND REQ_SEQ_NUM= 1 AND RAND_PARAM= 129 OR FEATURE_ID= '22222' AND REQ_SEQ_NUM= 2 AND RAND_PARAM= 129"
}
}

I want to read the data in the above sample JSON data and then populate my textboxes something like this:

txtRandParam.text = "129"
txtApplication.text = "MyMapApp" and three more text boxes after that.

Implementing JSON Feed On Web Application With JSON.NET?

Nov 18, 2010

I've been tasked with implementing a JSON feed on an asp.net website that will be consumed by 3rd party apps (such as IPhone, Android, etc) and I'd like to follow best practices.

An example of what I'd like to achieve would be something similar to: [URL]

I've chosen the JSON.net api as this seems to be highly recommended.

My Google-fu must be failing me as I can't find a single full example code for an Asp.net web application with JSON.net implemented on it, so I've no real concept of where to begin.

My question is fairly simple:

Should I create this sort of feed as an ASPX, or ASHX file? Or even a .NET Web Service? (Remember that the tools that will be using this feed are on external apps like IPhones, etc)

I created a test feed in both ASHX and ASPX format ... here is the code (I'm using Subsonic to populate the collection) ... are either of these along the correct lines?

ASPX:

MVC :: PartialView Outside Of Form - ViewData

Mar 16, 2011

I have a little MVC 3 challenge that I am trying to overcome.Here is my scenario:I have a controller called PersonController.cs with 5 methods:Add Add (post) Edit Edit (post) PopulateName(string EmailAddress) - POST

I have a viewdata class called PersonViewData.cs with 3 pieces of data:

Email FirstName LastName

I have 2 PageViews (Edit.aspx and Add.aspx)I have 1 PartialView (Details.ascx) - with 3 textboxes (Name, Email, Phone)I want to reuse this partial view in both the Edit.aspx and Add.aspx Views.

The user should NOT enter the First Name/Last Name - rather, once the user has entered the email address (OnChange of Email textbox), the First Name/ Last Name of person should be populated. This is done using the PopulateName(string EmailAddress) controller method. Meaning, I have an AJAX Form inside the partial view

Then once all 3 fields are populated. The user should be able to submit either the Add or Edit HtmlForm.

Code of Edit.aspx:
[Code]....

Code of Add.aspx:
[Code]....

The main issue is as follows:I have an AJAX Form inside the partial view. Since now we have a PageView Form and nested PartialView AjaxForm - Form within a Form - the Browser has a hard time with this concept. In fact, when a person enters an email address, the frmEdit/frmAdd gets submitted.
