MVC :: AdditionalFields Can Not Be Found Client?
Dec 14, 2010If the element name in AdditionalFields can not be found, the value will be "undefined". I think it'd better to be null or String.Empty, isn't it?

Jan 20, 2011I've been using the new ASP.Net MVC 3 RemoteAttribute to send a remote call to an action method that had a single parameter. Now I want to pass in a second parameter using the AdditionalFields property:

Where IntialEmail is a hidden field in the view. The action looks like so:
public JsonResult IsEmailAvailable(string email,string InitialEmail){//etc.}
When the view is rendered, the hidden field is populated, but when the Action method is triggered remotely, the value is an empty string.
I've seen elsewhere case sensitivity may be an issue, so I've ensured the Action method has the same case for both parameters.

if in the code behind, I set the label to "You must enter a value if the textbox is empty" to validate it on the server side and this is fine, but if javascript is enabled, I don't want to show the client side validation and the server side label together. Is this something where I would just have to disable the client-side validators if javascript was enabled?
C# - Client-Server App, Want To Create A Client Simulator ?
Oct 11, 2010We've got a client app which connects using TCP to a server. Additionally, the client app makes use of .NET remoting to talk to another piece of locally running code.
I'm tasked with creating a "Client Simulator" to do some testing, where we'd need to have 100's of clients connected simultaneously to the server. Ideally, this would work out great if I were to run each client in it's own space, such as a VM, but this is not logistically feasible.
how to handle this? Is there a tool that could do something like this? Or some sort-of .NET concept I could use?

There are two instances of this control in the page. When running the client side version it hits the wrong one (the version of the control which is disabled). You can see from the generated HTML both are correctly specified. I'm not sure how .NET works out which clientside function to call given they both have the same name.

Jul 27, 2010I know that people have had some trouble with undefined CssClass values when using partial classes in ASP.NET MVC. My project is not MVC, however, and I am including a .css file that is in the root folder of my project, yet a referenced class value still results in a warning in VS 2008.

MVC :: 404 Page Not Found?
May 30, 2010I'm using ASP.NET MVC 1 with IIS 6.The problem I have is 404 page not found.The "Default" rounting can be displayed, but if I try any other url, say /mysite/Home/Login,I got 404 error.I then changed the routing configuration in Global.asax as following,

Class Library Can't Be Found?
Apr 19, 2010I have a web Application and have created a seperate class library project.I am trying to use the Class Library by referencing it in the Web Application. I am doing this by right clicking the web application and clicking 'Add Reference...'. I then browse to my Class library and click ok. This gets added to a Bin folder in my web application.The problem is I can't actually get any of the objects that are in the Clas Library. I have tried adding a using statement to the top of the page. It tells me that the object could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Oct 24, 2010I moved a website from one server to another. Everything works well except for an admin area that is it's own small .net website. The login page loads but when it goes to the default.aspx page I get "The Page Cannot Be Found" even though it is there. Is there a property setting I need to do on the server for it to be seen? May 7, 2010I am trying to debug on my local machine an application that has encrypted connection strings. The error when I go to register the Key Container is:

AJAX :: Found A Bug In The ModalPopupExtender?
Feb 9, 2010I think I've found a bug in the ModalPopupExtender. Here is the details:
Problem
When you use ModalPopupExtender within an UpdatePanel, the controls in the PopupControl (the Panel containing the content needs to be poped up) will be rendered, even though the NamingContainer (or the parent) of the ModalPopupExtender and the PopupControl is set to invisible. This may cause Event Validation error between AsynPostBacks. Cause
The controls in the PopupControl will not be rendered within the UpdatePanel, but at the bottom of the page outside the UpdatePanel. When the NamingContainer of the PopupControl and the ModalPopupExtender is set to invisible, the content outside the UpdatePanel won't be updated and therefore stays on the page.

Steps to reproduce the problem
Create a simple ASP.NET web application in VS using the code provided aboveRun the app in debug modeClick on button Show 1, and then click the link button Show. The popup panel should show up. Click either
OK or Cancel to close out the popup panel.Click on button Show 2. You will see the content in the popup panel is displayed at the bottom of the page. However, the content should be invisible and should not be rendered, or should be removed from the page.Click on button Show 1 again. You will see the familar error message: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: Invalid postback or callback argument...
Further explaination
This error has nothing to do with the ViewState. When button Show 1 is clicked the second time, the page will try to load data (including ViewState, PostData and Session) into the controls on the page before btn1_Click is called. At this moment, pnl1 is still invisible, so the page will only try to load the data for the controls in pnl2. However, if you check the Request.Form.AllKeys in the watch window, the TextBox
txt is part of the PostData. This doesn't match any control in pnl2, and then the exception is thrown.
I have tried many different ways, but none of them worked.

May 13, 2010We recently retired our server 2003 domain controllers and moved to server 2008r2 DCs. We overlooked an old web application built using asp.net. The error we receive when attempting to log into the app is below. I assumed a setting in the web.config was pointed at a retired DC and it was. Removed the old value and added the correct DC name and we are still generating the error.
