View 3 RepliesI have a field in a details view shown below
<asp:BoundField DataField="DTMON_F" HeaderText="Monday Hours From: " InsertVisible="False"
ReadOnly="True" SortExpression="HOURS" Visible="false" />
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Monday Hours From: " SortExpression="HOURS">
<EditItemTemplate>
<uc1:TimePicker ID="tpMondayHours" runat="server"/>
</EditItemTemplate>
<InsertItemTemplate>
<%-- <uc1:TimePicker runat="server" ID="tpMondayHours" />--%>
<asp:TextBox ID="txtMondayHours" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("DTMON_F") %>'></asp:TextBox>
</InsertItemTemplate>
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Label ID="lblMondayHours" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("DTMON_F") %>'></asp:Label>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
Before "DTMON_F" is binded to the view I want to cut the string that is returned...Where and how might I do this?
What is the difference between binding data in data grid view methods ?

and this second one

I am trying to understand different events in a Asp.net page life cycle. I came across to this link. It has two stages Load view state and Load postback data. I used to thought that these both means the same thing. But this article says, that postback data is not viewstate data. I don't understand this.
View 5 RepliesActually I and doing my college Project and I have some Problem.I have 3 sections in my web page:1. The Search Part, which search a product by its name or Id.2. Result Part, which is a grid view showing Product ID,Product name ,its stock and Price.3. Billing Part, where The bill will be created which contains Sr.no. ,Product Id, Product name, Qty,Price,Total Price as attributes.Now I want that if any one search the product then result is shown in result part and then from the list of the products i click a product and add it in the bill list.But I am not able to understand here how to access a data from the grid view i.e. accessing Product Id,Product name, Price and add it to bill.

I am new to ASP.NET MVC. I am using MVC 3 and my Issue is as below.Que 1I have created City Master using MVC where My first view is standard and Controller and Model are also standard nothing specific about it. Now when I want to create second view which will be of type partial view so It can be used with other views I am using same controller and model which I am using with first view. But when I try to instanciate the controller from PArtial view it shows non resolution of the controller. The same instanciation is working fine from my first view which is also using same controller.
View 5 Repliesi m using default route of mvc2 like {controller}/{action}/{id}. i want to access that id field in view. how can i do that without using tempData and ViewData. if i have url like [URL] i need value 14 in aspx view
View 2 Repliesi have a model for shoping cart application
namespace Demo1.Models
{
public class ShopCart
{
[code]...
for this index action
1- I right click and -> Add view,
2- selected create strogly-typed view and selected ShopCart
3- view content selected List
view created as
<table>
<tr>
<th></th>[code]....
i cannot using "foreach (var item in Model.lines)" . but ShopCart has lines property. so i cannot using "item.quantity"
Model like a collection generic.
I have the following code for my page:
[Code]....
And the following .cs file associated with it:
[Code]....
I would like to be able to do the following in the .cs file for this page:
#1. Initially "Submit News" is disabled. The admin must click "Preview News" which will update the newslabel temporarily and also enable the "Submit News" button.
#2. When the "Submit News" button is clicked, the news.txt file should be opened and whatever content is currently in the newslabel.Text will be written to news.txt. The news will then be updated for anyone to see.
Right now, if I try to do "submitnews.Enabled = false;" is does not let me because it thinks that submitnews is not in the current context. Basically I need to know how to access elements that are within a <asp:LoginView> area.
I've got an .aspx page with this in it:
<%@ Import Namespace="System.Web.Mvc" %>
<%= AssetController.ScriptTag("/js/Community/CommunityWizard.js")%>
And I have an AssetController class:
Imports System.Web.Mvc
Public Class AssetController
Inherits Controller
Public Shared Function ScriptTag(ByVal src As String) As String
Return String.Format(
"<script type='text/javascript' src='/js.mvc?src={0}&{1}'></script>",
System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Server.UrlEncode(src),
New BuildVersion().ToString()
)
End Function
End Class
The project has a reference added to the 3.0.0.0 version of System.Web.Mvc assembly. When I try to view the page in a browser, I get a HTTP 500 with this message:
BC30007: Reference required to
assembly 'System.Web.Mvc,
Version=3.0.0.0,
Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35'
containing the base class
'System.Web.Mvc.Controller'. Add one to your project.
What gives? I don't understand why I can use this controller everywhere in our ASP.NET Forms/MVC hybrid application, but not in a view. EDIT: In fact, when I type <% System.Web. into the .aspx view, Mvc doesn't even appear in Intellisense!
I have an ASP page which displays a text box when it loads. It takes an input number, send it to the server through post back, and then displays some record in a grid view. After a number is input into the box, the server fetches some data from a database and add records to the grid view. It also contains a link column, whose URL is set to "#", so that the page isn't redirected when it is clicked.
Now I want to bind a jquery "click" event to that link. How can I do that ? I have tried that to do myself but failed, because it is not available when the DOM is loaded (since it only contains rows when a number is input through the box), and is being modified through ASP.NET Ajax post back.
I mainly do C# ASP.NET projects in VS2010. Once you've put masterpages and other things in place, I find the design view pretty much goes grey and elements can't be selected. This isn't so bad except that sometimes you need to access the little 'smart tags' at the top right of controls to do things.
In particular I'm trying to do this with some telerik controls, though the issue isn't confined to them.
Anyone have a handy tip to access this functionality (or miraculously make design view work!) ?
PS. I read in a few places that Shift-Alt-F10 may help. I tried putting my cursor in the control's tag and using it, no luck. Also I clicked the little rectangle below design view to select the control and tried it again- no luck.
1. the difference of view state and control state.
2. when & how view state is created after that what extent we can use that view state.
3. when & how control state is created after that what extent we can use that controlstate.
As a programmer how much clarification we need to know about view state and control state??
If i have a page which displays all the data but with only a few fields, then i select one of the data and then i want to be able to view that data with all the fields related to that data on another web page.
I have been able to view the data in Grid view and enable the Select, Update, Insert and Delete. But not able to use the select button to view the information on another web page.
I have a grid view with a few columns, for example a column in the grid view contains description of a product. The description might be very long, so i want to display only first 100 characters of the description and then provide a . when we click on the. then the whole description should be displayed.

I have added a jquery datepicker on my MVC view. This view has a partial view. I need to filter my partial view based on the datepicker's selected date. I need to show buttons on partial view based on the date.
I have added partial view like this:
div id="dvGames" class="cornerdate1"> % Html.RenderPartial("Partial3"); %>
/div>
one thing that has been puzzling me since learning MVC2 is the following case scenario: I have a view which contains two latest news lists, a login form and a signup form. Every example I found on Views and View Models so far has a one-to-one example such as a simple login form etc. But how do I create a model that provides the properties and validation for a login and signup form and manages the data for the news lists. can I pass multiple models in the strongly typed view? When I created one model the form validation would fail as it expects all fields - login and signup to be filled. I am missing some advanced examples or information.
View 2 Repliesi have created a simple view, and display it into gridview.. i have successfully created view but it is not shown in grid view , it return nothing...
