MVC :: How To Make Submit Button Look Like A Hyperlink
Mar 16, 2010
On my edit page for a CRUD app, I'd like the input/submit button to look like a hyperlink rather than that rectangular button.
Currently, the page has a rectangular "Submit" button, and a hyperlink for "Cancel" so they don't match each other visually. I'd love to learn how to make them both be rectangular buttons and also how to make them both look like hyperlinks, then I can always choose.
When I use a hyperlink control I get to set Navigate URL. But the control is rendered as underlined text.I would like to have a button that operates like a hyperlink. However, while the Button control has desired graphics, it only allows me to specify a PostBack URL, not a Navigate URL. Seems like a pretty simple problem.
I have required validation controls on a page. If the user got to this page by mistake and wants to go to a different section of the website using the navigational buttons; required validators are triggered and it will not let the user navigate away. Ho do I get validators to trigger only when a submit button is clicked?
I'm serving up PDFs from a SQL db and presenting them in the browser. I'm trying to figure out a way to embed a number in the PDF dynamically so that the recordID for that PDFs SQL record is available to me when the user submits the XML form data. The user hits the submit button on the form and the form submits its XML data to my submission page. If there is some way of changing the submission URL on the fly then I could do a query string to pass my self the recordID. I'm not generating the PDF in code, its being created by hand and then uploaded to my site.EditUser is given a link someServer.com/pdfLink.aspx?formID=5 they go there and that pages pulls a PDF from the DB and displays it. This pulls up acrobat in browser full size so my aspx page isn't in control of submitting the completed form, Acrobat is. The user fills out the form and hits the submit button in the form. This submit button was set up at form design time to point to another page someSite.com/pdfSubmit.aspx The submit button posts the XML data to that page and I can process it. I need the recordID in the query string for the someSite.com/pdfSubmit.aspx page. To do this I would need to modify the PDF to either add the recordID and query string to the submit button's submit URL, or embed it in the PDF else ware. The big question is how do I modify the PDF just before I display it via someServer.com/pdfLink.aspx?formID=5 to do either of these two options.
I am listing about 20 rows, each row represents an Order.Each row needs to have 3 buttons, each button click will perform a different action.I have 3 actions to handle each button post request, I am just unsure how to setup the Html forms for each button.
Should I create 3 forms for each button, per row in my listing?(that would mean 20 rows x 3 forms = 60 forms on a page)Is that 'ok' to do? (i.e. or is there a better way to do this?)
I have ASP.Net code generating my button's HTML for me using divs to get it to look and behave how I want. This question is regarding the HTML produced by the ASP.Net code.A standard button is easy, just set the onClick event of the div to change the page location:
<div name="mybutton" id="mybutton" class="customButton" onClick="javascript:document.location.href='wherever.html';"> Button Text </div>
This works great, however, if I want a button like this to submit the form in which it resides, I would have imagined something like below:
I have 2 SUBMIT button in a form one is display:hidden and one is display:block if user click on SUBMIT button (display:block) then another SUBMIT button {display:hidden} should also submitted.
In ASP.NET when we have multiple input section with required field validator (Like on header for login with userid & Password is required and second on footer for subscription) when we click on subscription login section's userid required field validator activates and say userid required & i can not submit subscription.
when i submit subscription details login section should not have concern with this. how to avoid this conflicts.
Initially I am doing validating form by clicking on btnOK and in btn_Submit I am inserting record into table. I again want to call btn_Ok event in btn_Submit click event for re-checking validation, if it validates properly thne rest of code of btn_submit should work.
Possible to use a link control to validate and submit a form? What would be the code to tie the click event of the link control to the submission functions? (I prefer link buttons much more than input buttons for styling across browsers.)
On code behind I do subit after the user clicked a button.After this, I am trying to refresh the page, and it sends the submit again. and so, there are duplicates in the database.How can I delete the form details immidietly after the first submit?? orelse, what are my options to deal with such scenarios?
I have 3 tabs with 3 seperate gridview and radios buttons in them. Each page has a seperate submit button, but for some reason each pages submit button is validating all the radio buttons on each tab, i picked the seperate controls to validate under but on any submit theya re all validated instead of just the ones on that tab.
I have a databound Gridview (with a LINQ datasource). The gridview displays questions from the SQL DB to the user. I've inserted a radio button list into the gridview with 3 horizontal radio buttons with fixed values of 1,2,3 for the user to select. I have a question ID, a tempuserID, and AnswerValue columns set up in the database. It all works nicely.
After the user selects radio buttons, I would like for them to push a button to submit the QuestionID, the associated Radio Button Value (AnswerValue) and their tempUserID into the DB. How do I do this? I'm not sure what to do next and what VB/LINQ code to put in the code behind file in the button click event handler. I'm also not sure on what to use for the tempUserID, can I use the sessionID? I'm using VB and here's my code:
how to make a checkbox is always unchecked even after form submit where a user tick the checkbox. The checkbox is for acknowledgment that user agrees to the terms and conditions ... and when form submit return some errors I want to display the error message on the screen and keep the checkbox unchecked regardless it was ticked or not.
In my view I have the following:
<%: Html.CheckBoxFor(m => m.UserAgreement) %>
And I have tried both the following in my controller and none of them works:
I am currently trying to make an html submit occur, but using the MVC helper method ActionLink as I do not want it to be a button, I want it to be an underlined link like the rest on my page. This is what I have currently
[Code]....
This jumps back to my action fine, but all the domains that are checked off to be deleted are not sent back. (if I use this,
[Code]....
it works fine so I know it's not something wrong with submitting or retrieving the check boxes)
The ASP.NET linq SubmitChanges method commits changes for all previous database modifications since the last time it was called.
I have a case where I do something like the following:
ClassX x = new Abc.Linq.ClassX(); DataContext.InsertOnSubmit(x); ClassY y = new Abc.Linq.ClassXY(); DataContext.InsertOnSubmit(y);
DataContext.SubmitChanges();//x and y are committed to the database
I would like to insert y but not X in the line above. Then I would like to insert X with another call to SubmitChanges() sometime later. I have to execute the code in the order shown.
I have got the code for interfacing VB to RFID CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW CAN I SUBMIT MY ENTRY TO DATABASE AS SOON AS THE TEXT APPEARS IN THE TEXTBOX AND WITHOUT USNG A SUBMIT BUTTON?
I have four Imagebuttons that I want to disable depending on the Role the user belongs too. I know how do do this in a gridview or detailsview but for some reason it isn't working on just a plain form. So when a User who is not in the "Admin" role logs onto the page he either doesn't see the button or the hyperlink has been disabled thus not allowing him to proceed any further.
when any link is clicked, the page corresponding to that hyperlink should open within a specified area on the same page, that is the "div content" yes i can use iframe but can i make a div target of the hyperlink?
