MVC :: How To Pass DropDownList Result Without Javascript
Jun 24, 2010
I'm still learning MVC. I would like to be able to display a list of items in a dropdownlist and then when I select one of those items invoke a new action that will process the selected item.
I can create the DropDownList but I cannot figure out how to return the selected item back to the controller. Below are some snippets from my code. The first shows the Index Action which just gets a list of pathnames which I call widgets. The second is an action which I'd like to use to process the selected file.
The third section is the view in the Index.aspx for the HomeController's Index View.
I have read several articles that show how to do this using JQuery or Ajax, but I'd like to do it without using either so that I can run this on a mobile browser that has no javascript.
I have this ListView that has a Drop Down List.Everything works fine (I think/hope) except that the drop down list are not showing its result correctly. This is the code.
Front-End [Code]....
The code behind consist of the page_load and the ItemDataBound [Code]....
How can I pass the result of the linq to a textbox?
Code: string search = txtSearchPO.Text; IPSBLL.TransactionInfo dbInfo = new IPSBLL.TransactionInfo(); var q = from info in dbInfo.GetTransactionInfo() where info.PONumber == search select info; txtPONumber.Text = q;
I need to access the column data something like this:
Code:
DataTable.Rows[index].columnName How can I do that in LINQ?
i have a new question: i read all the tutorials that i found but i cannot understand how to pass a result of a linq to entities result to the view so that i can display the results. My query is actually in the controller function ot the view, i would now loop the results and display them in the page. How?
I have one asp.net dropdownlist which consist A,B values. If user Select A in dropdownlist i need to bind this query to Gridview. Select FirstSelection from Tablname else Select SecondSelection from Tablename. How to do so..?
I want to be able to get specific website thumbnails and display them in an ImageBox. The easiest I've found is using a web service. Unforntuantely, most of these services don't allow me to just attach a URL. If I could, then I would just assign the URL of the ImageBox as the URL.
Instead, they force me to use JavaScript like this:
I have a Quick search box for a real estate website, which will search from the SQL server. I have two Radio buttons , and two dropdownlists. I want to display the result in a new page using the chosen criteria, I found this article but it's in VB, I want the code in C#. What i understad that i put this code for the search button:
I have a GridView in a div wrapper, there is some row headers along the left side that need to be always visible. This all works so far, but I need the wrapper to have a variable width to fit the browser size.
I got the desired width of the wrapper based on the browser width using some javascript but I can't figure out how to set this width as the wrapper.width.It doesn't have to update the wrapper width after the page loads or check for browser resizing.
my poor attempt at diagramming:
| |column headers | | R |--------------| | O | gridview data | | W | | | | this part | | H | will scroll |<---> | E | while the | | A | Row headers | | D | stay there | | E | | | R |______________ | | S | scroll bar |
I know the built-in ASP.Net validators come with a client-side framework, however I've been unable to find anything that lets me check a single validator for it's Valid state.
The validator in question is a RegularExpressionValidator, which I use to determine whether an e-mail address is valid or not.
I am having a problem with this code, i had a post on this however this code is slightly different to that so i thought i would post a spearate thread.
Anyway, what i am trying to do is display job vacancies by the result of a DropDownList value. Now each job name has a description. The problem i am having is i need to display the results in this logic:
Job nameJob descriptionJob location. But what is happening is the job description (body) is repeating the more vacancies there are. This is the page:
If you select Deputy Nursery Manager from the DropDown and hit the Search button you will see the results. After listing the first two locations the description is repeated and then the 3rd location is shown after this. This is my code:
In my ASP MVC app I have an asp: DropDownList control that has a source of a Linq data class. The values in the list are getting set fine, but when I select one, and then click on an Html.ActionLink, and pass control back to my controller, I'm not sure how to fetch the value that was selected from the DropDownList.
I'm having a problem with my Linq to XML query. I'm getting the result data I want, but it's nested so deep that there must be a better way. Here is my XML:
[Code]....
I'm trying to get a list (simple string[]) of all Item IDs where Category Names contains "Other".Here is my Linq:
[Code]....
[Code]....
Here is a snapshot of my result from Visual Studio:The results I want are there ("item100", "item400", "item500"), but buried so deeply in the results var.
I have a listview that is showing its result by using a linq query. The linq query goes like this.
[Code]....
* db.Varer: Varer is a table that contains basic product information like proudct name, product nr. etc. ** a.fk_kategori_id == CatParamId : I'm just saying limit the result according to the Category ID (a.fk_kategori_id). The category id is coming from a dropdownlist (CatParamID) *** Join: Besides the Varer (Product) table I also have another table, Sizes. This Sizes table contains 6 columns (ID_Sizes (int) primary key and the columns: OneSize, S, M, L, XL, XXL all are bit (true or false)). There is a relationship between Varer table and Sizes table. It says that I can only insert a value into the "fk_sizes_id - column" of varer table if that value already exists as primary key within the Sizes table. **** I'm starting by picking basic product values like productId, ProductName etc from the Varer (a) table ***** Then I'm picking the corresponding Sizes values (onesize, s, m, ...) from the Sizes table. Now within my ListView I'm showing the above result by using Eval, like this.
[Code]....
And this works perfectly, but now comes the thing that is causing me trouble. I have the below drop down list (still within the ListView ItemTemplate):
[Code]....
I want this drop down list to be populated with only those of the "linq query's Sizes table result" that are true. By "Sizes table result" I mean these
I have a dropdownlist and a datalist. The datalist will be displayed when a value is selected from the dropdownlist. But if there are no results for the selected value in the dropdownlist the page is blank. How do i make a message like : "No results" or something like that instead of just pure blank page?
I just like to know how to pass a parameter to the datasource of my dllItemCodeFooter and dllItemCodeEdit Drowndownlist which calls my getItemCodeList(decimal categoryID) method in the code behind. The value of the parameter will be seletectedValue of the first dropdownlist(ddlCategoryFooter or ddlCategoryEdit).I know it could be done in code behind, but i prefer to bind my datasource in asp page. I want to achieve something like this
in my website am using AutocompleteExtender control using webservices,in my webiste dropdownlist is there in that dropdown list user select one version like FIX.4.0,FIX.4.1, in that what are information are there are displayed in autocomplete numbers but webservices are working but the in my application is not fireing that webservie check this one correct are not in source
I need to create a user control which will be loaded according to the selected value of a dropdownlist. The Dropdownlist is not the part of Control. I want to pass the value of selected value of dropdonwlist to my user control and the user control will load according to the Value. For not postback it work fine. But when the page is postback, that is when i select a item form dorpdownlist, the user control is not loaded.
