MVC :: Implementing And Showing Time Difference?
Feb 12, 2011
I wanted to display the relative time difference in my razor view page.
In my model, which I am passing to the view, in which I have a dateTime datatype variable. Now, I want to implement a funtion
like this
[Code]....
I am unsure how should I define my funtion and call it inside my razor view. In the funtion, I will only pass the Datetime variable. It should only return the time in string format.

I'm having an issue working out how to implement this time based event. Basically, my program needs to send out an email at 12AM monday morning. But the email needs to go based on the user's local time not 12AM server time.
the problem i have discovered is Daylight savings. I used current server time as 12:00AM (my local time) and my actual offset is -7:00 UTC but after the calculation i get -6:00 utc because of daylight savings. If a user was in -7:00UTC then he/she will not get the email at 12am localtime but an hour late.

I am trying to check how much time does a function takes to execute in my code :
I did this :
void foo()
{
int time = System.DateTime.Now.Millisecond;
// code of my function. do this, that, etc.
Console.WriteLine((System.DateTime.Now.Millisecond-time).ToString());
}
What i get is this :
-247
I don't understand why minus ?? & If pro-filer is an option then recommend me some simple option.
Note : Here I have shown a console app but in practice i need for a Web App in ASP.NET which may be n-tier architecture also.

Before I get too involved in this new page, I want to besure I am going to go about it the correct way.
What is needed is a grid of some sort. The query returns groups of records, every two records are related and I need to insert a summary line after each pair of records.
Company 1 current
Company 1 previous
*insert a summary of the currency amounts displayed with the two records.
Company 2 current
Company 2 previous
*insert a summary of the currency amounts displayed with the two records.
.
. and so on
What data control should I use to do this (a girdview, datagrid, listview??, something else?) I am running VS. 2008.
I was given a summary sample on a previous post: [URL] But I want to be sure this is what I should actually use.

When I inspect an object in the debugger, I see a lot more properties in the debugger than what is available in Intellisense or code.
For example, the Page object in ASP.NET in the debugger shows a property RelativeFilePath which has a value. But when I try to use it in code, it doesn't exist. Why is that?
I looked up the property RelativeFilePath in MSDN, it exists for mobile controls. Not sure why it shows up then in the debugger for a regular asp.net control.

I was thinking about the performance when I use code to hide some control in aspx page using delimiters or in cs file. For e.g. If I have a panel and I want it to get shown following some condition, so I can achieve this by two ways
1: Using code in aspx file, something like this
<% if(isAllowed) { %>
<asp:Panel ...></asp:Panel>
<% } %>
2: In the code file, something like this
<asp:Panel ID="pnlMyPanel" Visible="false"></asp:Panel>
And in cs file
if(isAllowed)
pnlMyPanel.Visible=true;
In my view, first way should be good as it will not at all create any Panel in the page. Am I correct here?

I've published a web application to a server in the USA. The app is actually for swedes (people in Sweden) and I am looking for the best way to hadle the time difference.
There's a +7 hour difference.
Should I store the DateTime.Now in DB as it is, or should I use DateDiff to change the time before creating each record?
What's the best practice here? What to store in the database? Should the date only be differed when presenting it?

I have my Linq query in which i need to find time difference(not days difference).
The field in database is datetime.
Dim ldtToday
As DateTime = TimeOfDay
Dim SR_RM_InnerJoin =
From SR
In lcntxRT60Entities.RtSReports _
Join RM
In lcntxRT60Entities.RtRMaster
On SR.RtRMaster.ReportID
Equals RM.ReportID _
Select SR, RM _
Where SR.TID = 1 _
And --(Check) SR.ReportDeliveryTime.Value.AddDays(1) < ldtToday
How can i check if the time field of the record is less than current time??

What is the difference between connection timeout and command timeout?
In our application sometimes it is showing a timeout error. When we increased the command timeout value to 100(from default 30), its working. Is there any issue in increasing the command timeout value.

I would like to display time difference between previous row in GridView.
I prefer creating new Column in SQL, but I can't come up with getting value from "last row" in SQL statement.
The reason is that I would like to have Total hours.
ID | DateTime | Time Difference
1 | 1/1/2010 1:00:00 am |
2 | 1/1/2010 2:00:00 am | 1:00
3 | 1/1/2010 4:00:00 am | 2:00
Total 3:00

I need to build a system which needs to show data on almost near real time basis from a MSMQ data source and this sould be showin in image with a circle as to where the incident occurs.
This is the description given.
The position of the Incident relative to the 123 mark is requested to be represented on a circular concentration diagram .
The algorithm will have to export the location of each incident relative to the 123 mark in polar coordinates (r,θ) and translate this position to the 'master image' coordinate system that will display Incident location.
I have two questions.
1. How can i show the data in an Image and also please point me to any material which might help me with the same.
2. How do i show almost real time data from a MSMQ data source and also how do i architect the same for performance.

I'm currently developing a system for booking of discussion room in a college. This system will allow the staff to help the students to make booking in advanced as well as for instant walk in usage.I've got a table to keep track of bookings, another for walk in and one for time slot.
For the time slot table, it includes start time slot and end time slot, which is 30 minutes interval for each.What i'm currently facing is that the system could not display the correct available time slot. I think it's the formula problem which I still can't get it solved.
Example:If the booking time is 8.30am - 9.00am, I have no problem showing the 1st slot as N/A.
But if the time is 8.45am - 9.15am, the system only update the 1st slot as N/A while the 2nd slot still remain as AVAILABLE which is wrong. Because since the time ends at 9.15, I would like the slot 9.00am - 9.30am to be N/A as well.
This would be my code:
[Code]....
I have total 21 time slot count in my table. And the arrCC113Availability is an ArrayList keeping track of the availability of each slot for that particular room.Is there any other formula which can cater for all the conditions?
