I have implemented customised registratio page by extending the membership provider using profile provider.I successfully registered the user .Now i want to validate the fields of registration page.Built-in Registration page has builtin validation messages.
Bu in my coding i am not passing model to the registration action, instead i am passing properties. So if i Use If(ModelState.IsValid) it is always gives true even i am not filling any fields .but after it throws an exception but not displaying error messages in the page.tell me what i have to do.How i am getting my validation messages.
I saw Account Models class in that for register Model built in validation conditions are there. So i am also writing like that for my properties.
I am creating a custom 'control' which is simply made of two html inputs [type=text] but can't figure out how the validation will work on the view end.
I want to treat these 2 inner controls as asingle control so when a error is added to modelstate both of these inputs are highlighted in the view and a single validation message is shown.
I'd like to disable ModelState validation messages and keep my data annotation error messages.
When I update model, message "The value '' is invalid." apears in ModelState. I know that I'm trying to assign null to not nullable property, but I have my own validation and message.
I use something like this
[Required(ErrorMessage="Blahblah some error")]
I want user to see my message "Blahblah some error", but not stupid message: The value '' is invalid.
foreach (var issue in data.GetRuleViolation()) { ModelState.AddModelError(issue.PropertyName, issue.ErrorMessage); }
But at the client side I am not able to take the benefit of ValidationSummary as the call is being made by AJAX. What is the right approach on validation.
I'm running .NET Framework v4.0.30319 so the Framework shouldn't be an issue. I'm not using any DLL files or bin directories. How do I setup the IIS/Virtual Directory if I'm using Forms Authentication for the whole website using VS2010?
Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately.
Parser Error Message: Could not load type 'ACAWebApplication.Pages.State_Carrier_Search'.
I'm trying to parse a HTML file to retrieve certain info in my asp.net app. I've looked at the html agility pack but found that also quite difficult. :-) As my HTML should be pretty standard I'm hoping regex is quick and easy. I need a regex that will look through the html file (which I've loaded into a string) and find the below line and take out the DATATOEXTRACT (which will be some sort of text, the name of a recipe in this case) so I can put it into a variable:
I need to parse through the aspx file (from disk, and not the one rendered on the browser) and make a list of all the server side asp.net controls present on the page, and then create an xml file from it. which would be the best way to do it? Also, are there any available libraries for this?
For eg, if my aspx file contains <asp:label ID="lbl1" runat="server" Text="Hi"></asp:label>
my xml file would be <controls> <ID>lbl1</ID> <runat>server</runat> <Text>Hi</Text> </controls>
I occasionally get errors in my aspx files which are caused by problems with the designer file. When this happens I delete the designer file, right click on the aspx file and select "Convert to Web Application".
Usually regenerating the designer file works perfectly, however sometimes I get an error which simply says "Could not parse the file pathToFile.aspx". When this happens there are no useful errors displayed in the error panel which would indicate what the problem is. I got this error a little while ago, did some searching and found a blog which explains how to get round this problem. It suggests closing the file, cleaning the project, rebuilding then tring again. VS should now give you a more useful error message which pinpoints the problem. This has worked for me in the past, but doesn't work all the time.Has anyone found a better way of identifying the problem in the aspx file when the "Could not parse file" error is displayed?
I am trying to find duration of an mp4 file using direct show component of windows using the Dotnet wrapper(directShow-lib 2005). But the method i used was GetDuration of IMediaSeeking interface. But this returns zero as duration. After searching i found the following statement:"It doesn't matter whether it's in a container or not, it only matters whether you have a parser/reader for it. There is no stock DirectShow parser to read raw H.264 files and no third-party one I can think of. Also, whether IMediaSeeking would work with such a raw file is implementation-dependent. Last, most H.264-related filters use MPEG2Video or VideoInfo2 and neither works with MediaDet, so you would have to build the graph yourself."
The project I'm working on allows an end-user to modify CSS code to integrate the application as best possible. Most of the CSS values are stored in a database and need to be retrieved and parsed dynamically. I setup a Style controller, and gave each stylesheet an action, and then passed the configuration data through to the View. I set the ContentType to "text/css" and then generated the stylesheets. This works fine, but the problem I'm running into is this: none of the code works in the application. I include it in the head code, but it doesn't parse in the code. An example of what I do is this:
When I include the CSS code in a partial view and include it using the ViewModel (wrapped in style tags) in an action, then everything works fine. It is when I try to parse this as a separate file when it does not work. Is there something I am doing incorrectly? Or is there some kind of glitch?
i am currently working on importing excel sheets into my database.
SqlBulkCopy seems to be working fine, when i whole import the data over.
But i can't do automated validation (i.e. checking for identical data in the database & etc, i am stuck!) i can import the excel sheet data a line at a time , and perform automated validation check on them.
I am having a problem with the Client Validation not firing when I have marked a nullable DateTime field as [Required] and the value of the field is null. (It is actually stopping ALL client validation on the page working - not just the DateTime field).
Interestingly enough, once a post back has been done and the error picked up on the server, the client validation starts working.
Also if you set the date to a none null value (see commented out line in the controller) it will also work
I have replicated this behaviour in a small test project (this is deliberately very Noddy - just enough to replicate the problem)
Am I doing something fundamentally wrong or am I looking at coding some sort of work around here? (I realise that a Required nullable field sounds like a bit of a oxymoron, but I wanted to present the user with a blank field which they must then fill, not one pre-populated with an arbitrary date value)
i have a page with 2 Textboxes. in that page i use userControl with 2 textbox and a Save button now case is when i click on Save Button...i want to validate my controls. Both of page and both of usercontrol. in usercontrol is done by customvalidator... because of some specific conditions. now same time ... the controls of page should be validated for requred fieldvalitors, the issue is.... same type of usercontrol i have and which are on page same time. so i am not able to fire validation controls for parent page.
I can't seem to be able to get any validation controls to work with checkbox lists. I tried adding a custom validator but just get an error message. Are there any work around because I would like to add custom validation and required validators?
I have created a custom validation attribute for a class. The validation is actually against one property of the class, but since it needs to be compared to another property of the class at runtime, I had to pull in everything from the input form, perform the validation and output the errors. This being the case, I manually added a ModelError to ModelState if the ModelStats.IsValid returned false. I have another thread that goes into this, as I still haven't been able to make the client-side validation work for the custom validation (built-in validation runs client-side without a problem).
Here's the issue: I want to use the Post/Redirect/Get pattern to avoid issues where users refresh their page and cause another post of the form data. If I complete my Controller action and return a View after assigning an error with ModelState.AddModelError, I get the user feedback with the red input field and error message shown. However, just returning a View like this makes you vulnerable to the repeated posts issue. I want to use RedirectToAction to perform a get and avoid this problem, but when I do that I no longer have the ModelState error feedback on my rendered View. Here're the calls I'm making:
[Code]....
I'd like to be able to redirect to a get action and retain the ModelState.
I am new to wcf. Referring to http://bloggingabout.net/blogs/dennis/archive/2007/04/20/wcf-simple-example.aspx,
I was able to create a WCF project, host it in a console application & call it from a web application, successfully,But my issue is:
1. In the sample the program logic (say HelloWorld method) is residing in the host service! I think the program logic (all the methods & all) should reside in the WCF application & only host applicication is JUST a means to HOST the WCF. Am I correct. If so how can I do this.
2. In some other samples I see the use of an SVC file (.svc extension). How to use it? When I rt click to add a file in my project, I cannot see any svc file!
I want to perform some simple form validation in my controller.
Here's an excerpt from the controller action:
[code]....
It appears that must use a string as the error's key. Is there a way i can generate the corect key from the model, or should I just check for what input name Html.PasswordFor(x => x.NewPassword) returns?
