I have a ListView control that pulls a phone number from a db table. I'd like to format the phone number in the presentation layer to look like (###) ###-####.
The code line currently looks like this. The page displays the phone# but unformatted, i.e. 9999999999.
[Code]....
Based on other posts I've looked at in this forum, I've also tried:
<li>Phone: <%# String.Format("{0:(###) ###-####}", Databinder.Eval (Container.DataItem("Phone"))) %> with no success. In fact, this particular line throws an exception in my application (Input string not in the correct format).
The datatype I'm using in SQL is varchar(15)
The MSDN documentation for the String.Format method hasn't been very helpful thus far.
I'm bulding document-from-template engine. At certain points I need to match on Reg Exp groups and replace template text with content from a db.
I 'hardcoded' my RegExp initially, doing something like: Regex r = new Regex(@"{DocSectionToggle::(?<ColumnName>w+)::(?<ResponseValue>.+)}[[(?<SectionContent>.+)]]", RegexOptions.Multiline);
it does group capture, so the syntax isn't the prettiest.
Just to make things neater and because I want' to keep the patterns in web.config or elsewhere, I've 'evolved' algorithm to something like:
[code]...
But I'm getting an error: 'Input string was not in correct format'.
In Windows Forms I can create a class file called 'Authentication.cs' with the following code:
public class Authentication { public string Name; internal bool Authenticate() { bool i = false; if (Name == "Jason") { i = true; } return i; } }
In WebMatrix, I can insert a new Class file, called 'Authentication.cs', and insert the above code. And in my default.cshtml file, I do this:.........................
This same code working fine with MVC 2 but not working in MVC 3 razor. Once page is loaded not loading menu from HTMLHelper called within Razor like below.
Hardcoded menu for testing which is not outputting on the page.
In my application users can write their own 'templates'. That are filled with data from other sources. I could use a simple token replacement, but I would like to be able to use the Razor syntax and engine for rendering the template. Here is an overly simplified example:
[Code]....
Before you point to the following sources I will clarify what I have learned from them:RazorEngine (http://razorengine.codeplex.com/). This code compiles the string into a class, then a dll, then finally reads from a dll - all this to bypass the MVC engine. I don't want to do that because I am in MVC and don't want the additional overhead.The following blog shows how to do this for one of the MVC 3 pre-releases:http://buildstarted.com/2010/09/28/mvc-3-razor-view-engine-without-a-controller/ I cannot get it to work with MVC 3 RTM. When I take the exact code (and replace the CshtmlView with a RazorView) I end up with the error: The method or operation is not implemented. It appears to have something to do with @Model.Name, and being unable to find "Name".A comment in the blog elludes to a statement from ScottGu that the RTM would allow this functionality from the get go. I cannot find this blog.
I'm concatenating a string in codebehind to use in a sql select statement.
in aspx
<asp:Label ID="LabelHidden" runat="server" Visible="False"></asp:Label> SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [Data] WHERE [ActivityName] IN (@ActivityName) AND ([ID] = @ID)" <SelectParameters> <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="DropDownList_Employees" Name="ID" PropertyName="SelectedValue" Type="Int32" /> <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="LabelHidden" Name="ActivityName" Type="String" /> </SelectParameters> in codebehind foreach (ListItem li in ListBox_Activities.Items) { if (li.Selected) { queryBuilder += li + "', "; } queryBuilder = queryBuilder.Substring(0, queryBuilder.Length - 1); LabelHidden.Text = queryBuilder;
When i run the code it comes up blank. I did a query trace and it seems to be running as
exec sp_executesql N'SELECT * FROM [Data] WHERE [ActivityName] IN (@ActivityName) AND ([ID] = @ID)',N'@EmployeeID int,@ActivityName nvarchar(50)',@EmployeeID=4,@ActivityName=N'Production Technical Support'', Tools Development'','
with exta "'s
How can i format the queryBuilder string correctly in my code?
I have project in development where string operations like "Hi " + variable + ", welcome to Project" are used at many places (given example is very minor one).
One of the requirement is to convert it to string.format style.
It is very long and tedious job, where I would not like to break earlier working code due to any human error might happen while converting it.
I would like to if any Macro or VS command which I can create to handle it. Just like we mark block of code and do Extract function in Re-factor options.
I've run across with client-side validation. Firstly I'm assuming that everything is set up properly because client validation is working fine other than this specific scenario. The scenario is that if I have a field with a validation attribute on it then I can clear th field value and client validation won't flag it as an error even though the validation should fail. If, however, I type in something that is invalid then from then on it works correctly. It seems like client validation is missing the clearing of the field if it has not yet generated a validation error. Here's a simple model to demo the issue:
[Code]....
Now assume that I have this as my model instance: new SimpleModel() { Id = 1, Name = "One1", EventTime = DateTime.Now } The model is valid. Now I drop in an edit form generated by the Add View dialog. Again I'm assuming client validation is properly set up because it works except for the very specific scenario given earlier.........................
I have a displayFormat pattern "$###,###,###;-$###,###,###;#"( it can be different too) and I want to reformat the value in the AspxTextbox after deleting the ',' on GotFocus and LostFocus events by calling the following JavaScript function :
[code]....
I have tried to use ASPxFormatter but it is an internal class that is not indented to be used in a user project.Using String.Format('{0:' + displayFormat + '}', parseInt(value))); didn't work too , it threw an exception since String.format doesn't accept this format of pattern,Can you provide a way to reformat my string to any pattern I want not only the one I recite since ?
I've just encountered an interesting problem in a standard BoundField in a GridView. The field is for EmployeeCode, which is purely numeric, but stored in a character column in the database. The DataFormatString="{0:00000}" attribute on the BoundField doesn't work, as I assume that format is only for numeric values.
To work around this, I had to use a TemplateField, and bind the text value using the attribute Text='<%# PadNumericString(Eval("EmployeeCode").ToString(), 5) %>'. Is there no simpler way of doing this?
I'm trying to take a querystring in string format and get the data out, like what would have been done with request.querystring("thefield")
I am submitting a form using ajax with this syntax:
var str = $("form").serialize();
$.post(url.....
So the serialized data posts to the controller fine, but I can't figure out how to deserialize the str value on the c# side. Guessing there is a better answer than writing a custom routine.
I have a program that is using credit card info and the expiration date is selected by the user clicking a dropdownlist for the month and a dropdownlist for the year. I want to show a label message if the user tries to proceed while the month and year are evaluated as being earlier that the current month/year.
I've completed the 22 first tutorials of the data access tutorials, and now I'm trying to apply these techniques to a project I started myself.But i'm stuck trying to replace an id by its value from another table, so I want to show all information about a car ("wagen") , but instead of showing "1" as driver ("chauffeur") I want to show his name.I've written this querry for the "wagen" table in the dal
i am taking string value from textbox name txtLastAppointment no. and want to convert it to int and then store it in databse using Linq to sql but i am getting error "input string was not in proper format" my Input string is 2.
My Code is. objnew.lastAppointmentNo=Convert.ToInt32(txtLastAppointmenNo.Text);
