View 2 RepliesI've uppgraded to version 4 of framework and notice that menucontrol is now able to render as <ul><li>, witch is perfect. But I notice that it adds a style element and set class for each node.
renderd page html

Is there a way to remove this so I can set my own style?
I need to plan out a Class, Method, Attribute style diagram, I have looked at the Class Designer in Visual Studio, but it seems to not do what I want. I want to be able to have a diagram show the classes just like in Visual Studio - except I want to be able to represent the parameters these methods require, for example:
getStock(StockID)
And this be shown in the Diagram. This is for an ASP.NET website - what are the best ways of creating a diagram for a website like this to represent the methods - I don't want to start generating classes - which is why I want to use Visio, plus I am more familiar with Visio than the Visual Studio Class designer as I mostly use the Express line of products which don't feature this. I want this for example for Default.aspx:
Default.aspx
(View)
Methods:
- FeaturedStock()
- GetStock(StockID)
- ShowContent()
- ShowImage(StockID)
I don't want to use UML as this is too confusing - the Visual Studio Class diagram is close to what I want but I cannot get it to show the Parameters on my Methods. My main aim is to have "stubs" for each method a page requires to implement that functionality as a Developer this is the easiest way I can plan out this project.
I have a trial version of VS2010 and created a simple out of the box ASP .Net web application. I have been playing around with the css file for the project and have yet to figure out how to effect the menu tabs.
View 2 RepliesI am having problems disabling the autoinsertion of quotes for the 'style' and 'class' attributes on VS2008 SP1 on 64-bit Windows 7.
When I type:
<div class="
I end up with
<div class="""
In Tools->Options->Text Editor->HTML->Format, I set "Insert attribute value quotes when typing" off (and "...when formatting" is also deselected) but it still seems to insert the quotes.
why automatic quotes might be disabled for everything but style and class attributes?
I'm dynamically binding tables and sub tables using nested listviews. On the client side I have a piece of jQuery that is toggling the visiblity of TRs witin the tables in order to provide a group expand / contract view option.
On postback I'm obviously loosing my class changes that I have applied via jQuery. I'm wondering what the best approach to maintaining these client side class changes is? I've considered creating a hidden input control per table to store the indexes of the visible TRs at the time of expanding them. The intention being to then look for the indexes during postback / rebinding and add the visible classes to each corresponding element.
Is there a better approach or some native method of passing back the client side style / class change to the server during postbacks?
I have a form that a user enters a list of email addresses in a text box.
I want to give the text box the style of the hotmail adderess bar where each address is surrounded by a box.
is there how to achieve this ?
I was wondering is it possible to for example have text for example like the following : "product no. 345 - use when loading shedding occurs!"
And lets say this it was saves in StyleSheet1.css as '.useThisProduct'
And then in my label (eg):
<asp:Label runat="server" ID="lableUseThisProduct" CssClass="useThisProduct" />
The reason i am asking I have a list of a few products that may or may not change once a month, and instead of saving all the variables and diffrent things in a sql table I can just update/delete them in a css sheet.
I know I can probably copy and past it in and out of the .aspx page but it just seems so 'un-neat' to have lots of text in the HTML tags.
I have a textbox on my page for users to enter input. If they were to type text outside of the box, and then copy it into the textbox, how can I make the textbox able to preserve the style of the text copied into it: italics, bold-faced, etc.?
It currently will convert anything copied into it as plain text.
As the subject may be a bit vauge as i found it hard summing up what i was after when searching on google here is an example of what i mean:
[Code]....
Im basically trying to write my own simple tag parser, so i can allow people to enter a certain amount of tags like shown above and i would parse them and turn them into html outputs... and i couldnt find the right terms to search for on google, so i thoughti would see if anyone here knows of any good tutorials on the subject, or what specifically i should search for to sum up what im after.
i have a user web control wich has the website menu. this menu is viewed through out the entire web site.
i would like to mark the selected link, on the menu with in the web user control,in some way (red background or w/e) the thing is, i cannot manage this from client side since there is a page_load on every click on the menu (witch brings up a different page). the only thing i can think of is saving the click to the session and then retrieve what was clicked and change the style accordingly via c# in the code behind.
My date picker has no style as in it doesnt seem to be recognising the style sheet

and my html

My <style> for thumbnails currently looks like this:
<style type="text/css">
img.TN {
width: 100%;
margin-bottom: 5.294%;
cursor: pointer; }
</style>
This is annoying, because I have to apply this style to every single thumbnail image individually, when there could be any number of them on the screen at any given time. All of the thumbnails are inside a single <div> that groups them together, and I'd like to apply a single style to the <div> that will push the attributes I need down to all of the the <img> elements nested inside, regardless how many thumbnails there are.
I'm using ASP.NET 2.0, and CSS 2.0
I put a GridView in a <div> with style="text-align: center". However it the GridView is left aligned instead of centered, but everything else (text, TextBox control, etc.) in that <div> is centered. This happens with FireFox. Could anyone provide some hint about what can be done to center GridView
View 1 RepliesLet's say i have the following ASP.NET/CSS code:
<div style="color:Red;">
some text...<asp:Button runat="server" ID = "Button1" Text = "ABC" />
</div>
The "some text" part would be red but the text of the button is not red. Why? If I place a label in place of the button, the label's text would be red.
Is there a way to get the textbox text from another class?Class "Add_Project" is my aspx page, with a placeholder (phTemplate) and a button.Class GeneralInformation has a function which creates a textbox, which is put into a List of controls in class Template. Template is loaded into Add_Project.So when you hit the button in class add_project, I want to get the textbox text of txtProjectNumber.I hope you understand my issue.

How to use text box control in asp.net 2.0 class ? i have write function in class then i want to call textbox control in default.aspx for using how can i do ?
View 5 RepliesI saw this implemented somewhere but basically below I'm using the textbox HTMLHelper to draw a textbox with the id myID and default text 'text_goes_here'. I want to also add a class to thiis helper, i saw somewhere it implemented with new {@class =''} as a third parameter creating an object but im not sure exactly how its wrote
<%= Html.TextBox("myID", "text_goes_here") %>
I have asp:Table with number of asp:Label inside asp:FormView, it represents short stats info.I need to set Label.CssClass to "red" if it's text isn't "0".Currently I do this on FormView.DataBound event. But think that it's better to use JavaScript and probably jQuery. How can I do that?
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to say something to the effect of 'SomeClass.Out.WriteLine("hello world")' and have it actually show up for the browser to render? I ask, because I notice that the HtmlHelper BeginForm implements IDisposible. So at the end of the using block, a closing tag is written to the browser.I am not saying I would use this practice, as it seems like a bad idea, but I just want a better understanding of what is going on under the hood of C# ASP MVC.
View 1 RepliesI want regex operation for removing style tags,css,scripts and html tags from html to plain text in asp.net c#...
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to include script and style references that will not break on deployment, however I can not even get the references to work locally. I have tried using Url.Content() and MVCContrib's <%=Html.ScriptInclude("")%>.
My scripts are in a Scripts folder on the root of the site; my styles are in the usual Content/css/ folder.
The scripts render like this:
<script type="text/javascript" src="/Scripts/MicrosoftAjax.debug.js" ></script>
This will not work in a view page in the Views folder. What am I doing wrong and what is the best way to handle this?
I would have thought Url.Content() would at least work for styles but used in my master page, the link rendered
<link href="/Content/css/Site.css rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
This does not work, because the Master Page is in a Shared folder, so what is really the way forward with this?
I want to catch the html button click event on a class file including html text box value..

Currently we are saving files (PDF, DOC) into the database as BLOB fields. I would like to be able to retrieve the raw text of the file to be able to manipulate it for hit-highlighting and other functions.Does anyone know of a simple way to either parse out the files and save the raw text on save, either via SQL or .net code. I have found that Adobe has a filtdump utility that will convert the PDF to text. Filtdump seems to be a command line tool, and i don't see a way to use a file stream. And what would the extractor be for Office documents and other file types?-or-Is there a way to pull out the raw text from the SQL Full text index, without using 3rd party filters?Note i am trying to build a .net & MSSql solution without having to use a third party tool such as Lucene
