I am new to MVC and am using MVCContrib and trying to use the Checkboxlist .My requirement is to display list of all available roles on create user page . I have dine as below .

In this case GetAllRoles method retuns string[] . How can I assign the "DataTextField","DataValueField" to make it work ?

Let's say I have a rolegroup as follows:

Is there a way I can make it so that a user must meet RoleOne and RoleTwo to satisfy the RoleGroup? By default, if a user is in either of the two roles, they will be granted access. I know I can do this via the code-behind, but I'd prefer to be able to wrap some content template with this markup instead of having to wrap it in a panel and hide the panel programmatically.
i want to implement asp.net role provider to assign users over my LAN to roles and have my asp.net intranet app implement security based on roles.
i dont want to use VS to manage this with the built in tools but rather hand this off to users to manage themselves. i want an admin folder with a page(s) for admin roles to be able to create/edit roles and manage users in roles... this way an admin can add a domain user (MyDomainUsername) to a role such as ProojectManager or Tester or Developer... and users wont need to contact me for these tasks...

I'm building a web app that will come back with a report. For certain parameters where the user has requested a dropdown list, they also want to be able to select more than one option at a time.
e.g. show me all transactions from the states of TX, WV, and ID.
The reason I've decided to go with the dropdownlist they requested and not a listbox is there are over 40 parameters they can pick from and my page is already crammed with that many controls.
Its like I have multiselect option in Jqgrid in which i want to pass the selected rows value to the server and based on the value i will delete the rows. I dont want to have the ids to do my work. For the Single row i get the cell value and delete using the same. But for multi select its not the case. In getGridParam('selarrrow'); I use this to fetch the selected rows bu the values are not getting populated.
When i use the following code as i saw in some sample question i can fetch the value for the single row selection but when i select multiple rows then i pass it says like "FALSE" or "UNDEFINED". I have a listbox, i am binding it to a datatable with DataTextField and DataValueField. This is in WebForm (not windows).And the first item in ListBox is "Select All" and the rest are from DataTable.SelectAll is selected by default.1) If i select any other item...(as it is multiselect) the "select all" item should be unselected.2) If i select 5 items in ListBox and after that i select "Select All" items then all the other items except "Select All" item should be unselected.
I expected that clicking on different items in the control would cause each to highlight, but when I click a new item the highlight moves to that item, and previously selected highlight is removed. Is this how the control is supposed to work?

Newb question: what is the standard practice for assigning roles to newly signed-on members. Is it usually manual or is there a way of automatically assigning roles. Being completely new to this, I am confronted by the issue of my site having three different roles that new members could fall into, but am unsure about how to assign each a role. I can't imagine having to go through the process manually if I have thousands of members.

My Idea is to get the full collection and then remove the unneeded items. Then take that new collection and bind it to whatever I need.
For example How do I get all the roles except administrator?

I would like to know how i can bind my form values to my strongly typed view from a MultiSelect box. Obviously when the form submits the multi-select box will submit a delittemered string of my values selected...what is the best way to convert this string of values back into a list of objects to attach to my model to be updated?

View 1 RepliesI'm using MVC 2.0 in an ASP.NET application using NHibernate. I have a working View, Controller and data access layer using NHibernate that is able to display and save an entity with a relationship to another mapped entity: Person -- > Location It's using the HTML helper HTML.DropDownListFor() to display a list of all Locations. The user is able to select one of the Locations from the list, and press save. The default model binder correctly sets the value of the Location on the Person entity being saved. This location is an nhibernate mapped entity, and is instantiated and has the id value that was selected in the dropdown list. Obviously, since the dropdown list that holds locations only has the ids of the locations, the rest of the values for the location are null. This is OK. I am only trying to save the Person with a reference to an existing location.
So, here comes the complication. We have a need to change the relationship between the two entities. Now the Person can have a reference to many locations. Person.Locations will be an IList My question is, how do you get the default model binder to take selections from a multiselect dropdown and populate an IList. I've managed to save collections of entities in the past using the syntax [index].PropertyName as explaing by Phil Haacked .... [URL]
The issue here is that I have only a dropdown list, and it will post back to the modelbinder a repeating key with different values:
Person.Location.Id: 2
Person.Location.Id: 4
Person.Location.Id: 5
This, unfortunately, doesn't work. the Location list keeps coming back Null. Our UI guy is using a slick JQuery pluggin to display the items in the select list, so I'd rather not have to use a different UI.

Now i am having two dropdown one is asp dropdownlist and 2ND is MultiSelect-DropDownList-with-CheckBoxes. 2nd dropdown is populating on selected value of first.On page load it works fine. Now, on change of value in dropdown, selected index change 2nd dropdown (MultiSelect-DropDownList-with-CheckBoxes) fills but i see a list box instead of dropdown.

Values in multiselect dropdown not getting selected when Select All option is selected for a SSRS dropdown. There are multiple dropdowns on the page. We have one dropdown whose output is being used to populate the second dropdown using a stored procedure. When we check the Select All checkbox on the dropdown then ideally upon page refresh all the values should get selected in the dropdown, but in this case the page refreshes back to the blank dropdown, forcing the user to select the values again. The next dropdown too does not get populated. This makes it impossible to run the report for all the cases by using Select All. We ran the report on differnet database environments. My current location is Mumbai,India, the report worked fine when we ran it on a Bangalore,india database. This issue occurs when we try running it on a Chicago database server. I am using SSRS 2005, SQL2005.
