Before committing the record from the postback of the Create or Edit method in my controller, I validate the values in the form against some business rules in the GetRuleViloations() of this domain object. The following rule example is written in two ways. The 1st one validates against the numeric values in form, the 2nd one validates using the associated object (lookup table in database) description via the foreign key. I would like to use the 2nd method, but during the Create postback the associated object is always null.
I'm inserting data into a SQL database through a detailsview. When a user inserts an incorrect data type or leaves a required field blank it shoots off to a big error screen. Is there a control that I can use that will allow it to give an error (with a little star or something) that says which field is incorrect without the big error screen?
I developed a screen in which there are fields like first name,username,password and email. I validated these fields using javascript and came to know that javascript is not that safe. So i decided to validate on server side also. My question is whether i can use asp controls like requiredfieldvalidator, regularexpression validator to validate the form or i have to validate through server side coding??
My BeginForm is like this.. <% using (Html.BeginForm("Insert", "StudentController", FormMethod.Post, new { @id = "exc-" })) {%>
I have one textbox in my view I need to check my textbox is empty or not if it is Empty display alert box saying please Enter some value in textbox other wise go to controler..
I added a RequiredFieldValidator to my InsertItemTemplate, and it seems to be working fine. The problem I am having, however, is that now I cannot do anything else in the ListView (like edit or delete items) UNLESS the required field has a value. Is there some way I can manually do the validation when the user clicks the 'Insert' button on the InsertItemTemplate, or some other little trick I can perform so the user doesn't have to first type in a value just to delete something else in the list?
I have a custom html form, I created new asp.net site in the web developer 2008.
My question is, When i create a validating for this textbox and run the page, it tells me error, i tried to make the validating control id and (control to) same as name and id of my textbox but all didn't not work out?
I need to validate that a user makes a selection from a select list OR they enter text into a textbox. I'm trying to figure out which validator to use. Is there a way to make a CompareValidator do this? Or would I need to write a custom validator? If custom, do I write one for each of the form elements, or does the validation happen upon submit?
(Using ASP.Net 2.0 on Visual Studio 2005, coding in C#)I write in the hope that someone will be able to provide a clue as to how I might best overcome this issue:I've got a form with 2 RequiredFieldValidators, and 2 buttons. Button 1 has 'CausesValidation' set to 'False', and populates some of the other fields on the form from the database (via a postback).Button 2 fires the validation, then if the form is valid brings a javascript popup confirmation box and then, if true, it puts the data in the form into an email.All this is working fine. However......My problem is this: If I press button 2 with my required field(s) empty, the form quite correctly refuses to submit, and highlights the appropriate field(s) with a red *.But: if I then press button 1 (my populating button) it DOES NOT FIRE until I press it a second time!Code snippet follows (markup only - I will of course post code-behind if nec. but I don't think it is)
<script type="text/javascript"> function ConfirmSubmit() {
I want to validate a textbox that only a numeric currency value can be put into it, for example 0.00. I thought the following code was correct but it doesnt seem to wrk, its causing an error on my page and when I remove it the page is fine, it doesn't actually give exact details of the error on the page just says "syntax error" in the browser that is all.
I have a listview set up in "flow" mode where the existing records are all on an extended page so you can scroll down to any record.
The InsertItem Template is in the first position, making it easy to insert a new record.
And one can scroll down the page to any record, click the edit button and update that record -- nice having everything on one scrollable page.
I am running into a problem with validations. I have validation controls restricting inputs for all the textboxes on the Insert Item template. They work fine. And on Item Inserted I am running a page validation:
Page.Validate() If Not Page.IsValid Then e.Cancel = True End If
which works fine also.
The problem occurs when I scroll down to an existing record, and go to edit it. I have all the same validation constraints on the textboxes for the EditItemTemplate as I have on the InsertItemTemplate. But I cannot successfully do a page validation on updating the record. The code I am using on update is:
Protected Sub LVRentals_ItemUpdating(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListViewUpdateEventArgs) Handles LVRentals.ItemUpdating Page.Validate() If Not Page.IsValid Then e.Cancel = True End If End Sub
This results in a Cancel even if there are no validation errors on the InsertItemTemplate because the Page.Validate() seems to be causing the InsertItemTemplate to think its fields should be filled out also.
Here is the code for a typical entry of the InsertItem Template:
[code]....
All the controls in the Edit Item template are part of ValidationGroup "edit1" and those of the InsertItem Template are part of ValidationGroup "edit2"
How can I get around receiving validation errors on the InsertItem Template when I am trying to validate just the EditItemTemplate when both are present on the page?
I was told to use a Repeater control in what I am doing which is a "Data Entry" screen with ASP.NET controls -a standard "address" like form. In cases, the fields on the form will repeated twice, once for the original values, one for the changed values. I have not used this control before but it seems like I have to bind to a database. Instead, I have an Entity object that has been obtained via a Repository. Can I bind to an object like this?
I have two asp.net applications webapp1 and webapp2, in each application i have a asp.net form Deafult.aspx
I want to do a form submit from Default.aspx in webapp1 and recieve the value in webapp2.
I tried to do it with simply setting action ="webapp2 location" but it is throwing the bellow error
Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster.
I even added the machinekey element to web.config
but it is still showing the same error.
This is the code for webapp1 form which sends data to webapp2
I am doing a data warehouse project.I have two tables tblA (id, type) and tblB(city, no_crimes, type).I want to create (insert) a number of rows based on the value of no_crimes.For Example, in tblB(Leeds, 2000, murder). SO, I need to insert 2000 rows into tblA by a single INSERT statement (not 2000 statements).
I have a typical gridview/formview master control setup. When I try to update or insert I don't get any errors but it also doesn't work. When I try to insert data all I get are null values and when I update, none of the values are updated. The formview looks like its working, but just doesn't. The primary key is an identity and it auto-increments by one.
In my website I have two forms: parent form and child form(dialog box). Their expected behaviour is like this: if clicked on 'show' button on parent form, a dialog form opens that displays a gridview. In dialog form, if clicked on 'select' button it closes itself and returns value in selected row back to parent form.
To achieve this I write following code (.cs) : in parent form:
void ShowBtn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
StringBuilder jScript = new StringBuilder(); [code]....
Now problem is: the code in parent .cs works fine, it opens the dialog properly. But when clicked on 'select', instead of returning back to parent, it opens the same dialog again in new window. This newly open window says "Done but error on page" at left bottom.
I am populating a form trough a query so it will return multiple values, sometimes 5 or 6 or even more.Now when I press submit I need to save each form row in a database.table as a new entry. Other question is I have 3 check-boxes when the submit button is pressed it need to insert the value corresponding to the selected one, how to do that?
Code: @{ var db = Database.Open("quality"); var selectQueryString = "SELECT * FROM perguntas WHERE chklst_id=@0 ORDER BY id" var id = UrlData[0];
i'm using visual studio 2005. now i've to create a insert form which shud be connected to database(mssql). can any one tell me how to do dat. as i'm new to visual studio i dnt knw it.
I have a simple contact info webform with some validation rules developed in VS2010 that inserts a row in a SQL 2005 Express db.
However it does not always insert a row. (does for me !) There are no errors reported either in the browser or in the event log.
how I can narrow down the cause?
My code is faily simple. Basically the button calls the Insert command in the SqlDatasourcce , as generated through VS I do have one piece of code that forwards the user to a new page once the form is fillied in.
I have a basic web form with about 5 textboxes. One Textbox is "Date1" and the other is "Date2." Is there a way to set the value of Date1 = Date2 after the user enters a value into the Date1 textbox? I'm using Visual Studion and C#. I'm not much of a programmer, so the less technical the better.
I want to create multiple listboxes when you select the first it does a database query which gets a list for the second list box and it carries on for the third and so on. Beside each list box is a form to insert an entry for that list is there an article or video on how to do this. Some ajax might be needed to do what I want Im not really sure what to do I can't find an article on this.
I have a page that I'm working on that I trying to do the following with:
1. Name a file upload.txt (with codebehind) every time a file is uploaded with a user pressing a submit button.
2. Validate that the file is a .txt file (again with codebehind)
3. Lastly, once the user presses the submit button, that a sql query is run.
I realize that .xml is the proper way to do this but as I'm new to .net, I want to do this with simply inserting the sql query into the codebehind. Here is my codebehind thus far: [Code]....
Here is the sql query that I want to insert into the codebehind above:
bulk insert dialerresults from '\MSBWEB3data est.txt' WITH [code].....
I should also comment that I am writing this in .vb as opposed to .cs and also I am using asp.net 3.5.
