I have written a custom ViewEngine and am calling the following within the FindView method:this.ViewLocationCache.InsertViewLocation(controllerContext.HttpContext, cacheKey, virtualPath);However, subsequent requests never hit the cache as it always returns null.I am using ASP.NET MVC 2.0 RTM.When I step through my code even after just calling the above code, hovering over ViewLocationCache appears to be null.
I have a gridview with two bound fields. On clicking a button i want to display the values in first row of gridview in two textboxes. But if gridview cell is empty i am getting the text in textbox to which the value of cell is given as -' 'i know my problem will be solved if i use the template fields instead. But i want a solution while maintaining the bound fields ,if any.
I have a sql database that on some field will have a empty string/field. I am using a Datalist to display my results. How do I not make the labels that are empty not display? Currently if the field is empty it will leave a space there which my goal is if the field is empty do not leave a white space instead move the other colunms up.
I am working with a gridview that pulls data from a SQL database based on selections in dropdown lists. The source table has six columns for attributes of the selection, but depending on what is chosen, there could be anywhere from one to six of those that are empty (all null values). When the column is empty, I would like to have it hidden so the page is less clunky and confusing.
I've searched around for an answer for the past couple days, but what I have found so far is either related to hiding columns that you know are empty which I will not know or removing them in the SQL code which I think doesn't work if the column is called for in the gridview code and doesn't exist in the query.
When I click on the Alphabets it will show the details of a player...however, when that particular letters has no details of the player..I want to show."No results can be found"..Is there anyway to do it?
I want to build my own web framework, and I want to build it in C#. I figure the easiest way to get started is to use ASP.NET to handle all the server communication stuff. The rest I want to build my self. I know next to nothing about ASP.NET. (But know C#, the MVC pattern, and other web frameworks quite well).
In Visual Studio 2010 I see
ASP.NET Web Application ASP.NET MVC 2 Empty Web Application ASP.NET MVC 3 Empty Web Application
I figure one of these should be good as a base. I just want some "entry point" into some C# code. I started with PHP so it's a little bit weird for me to not be able to just load up a file in my browser. Anyway, which should I use? What's the difference between a plain ASP.NET Web App and an empty MVC 3 app? If it's "empty" it shouldn't be using any of the MVC framework, should it? I just want to make sure I use the latest and greatest "ASP" for handling the server stuff before I embark down this road.
i have grid view and i am displaying results by search button which is fine. for first search it is fine, when i click on second search, even that search result not exist, the old data is still displaying. so how to make gridview as empty if there is no result found. i used linq to sql concept to display the search results.
I have an array of a server control type, and what I would like to do is check if there any elements set inside the array. How can you check inside if for instance an array has no elements set inside or the array is empty or only one or two?
I have a loop where i create some string value based on certain conditions. I did place StringBuilder object outside of the loop and each time i have new row in loop i need to clear StringBuilder appended values for this row.
Possible Duplicate: In C#, should I use string.Empty or String.Empty or “” ? just don't understand the benefits of using String.Empty over "". Aside it being strongly typed its longer.
I make SqlDataSource1.DataBind(); with some parameters on button click,
then I'm working with a Grid onDataBound();
but if my SqlDataSource1 returns empty data I've got an error even if I'm trying to check if (GridView2.HeaderRow.Cells.Count != 0) so I guess I need to check it on SqlDataSource1 someway.
I'm working on an ASP.NET MVC web application and I've made my own authentication module, which is session-based (no cookies). The problem is: When I rebuild my application, I'm automatically logged of (session is empty).
Normally this is not a big problem because my application is not 'automatically' rebuilding in a production environment. But I've also made a module that changes the resource-files and after a modification of a resource file, the application seems to rebuild automatically.
So my actual question: Is it possible to 'keep' the session variables/stay logged on after a rebuild?
As you can see, some nodes do not always contain data for ever member of staff; only Directors have biographies.
I access the values like this...
For Each staff In ( _ From matches In myXMLFile.Descendants("staff").Descendants("staffName") _ Where matches.Nodes(0).ToString.ToLower.Contains(LCase(search)) _ Order By matches.Value _ Select matches)......
Once it gets to staffBio I get an error saying "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." obviously because that node does not exist.
My question is how can I assign the value to a variable even when it is empty without having to do a conditional check before each assignment?
I'm working on ASP.NET 4.0 and I'm having problems for saving the selected value in a DropDownList.
I initialize it in the Web Control's PreRender method as follows:
if (!Page.IsPostBack) LoadCountryList();
Where LoadCountryList's code is:
private void LoadCountryList() { var vr = new CountryRepository(); var countryList = vr.GetAllForList(); DdlCountry.EnableViewState = true; DdlCountry.DataValueField = "code"; DdlCountry.DataTextField = "name"; dlCountry.DataSource = countryList; DdlCountry.DataBind(); }
After I submit the form, I've noticed the DropDownList is empty(it's not before postback). If you take a look at my code, I've enabled the ViewState for this control, but I'm not getting any results yet. Does anybody know what's going on?
EDIT:
Here is the simple code of the control in the aspx file:
I've looked at answers to some similar question but I still can't seem to figure this out. I think I'm misunderstanding something about how ASP.NET works.In the standard ASP.Net 4.0 'Create a new Account' form, I've added a DropDownList containing Roles to be selected for the new account. in the aspx page, the control looks like this:
