i want to add the functionality of adding profile images for each user, which i found are based on just uploading images to the web application but without linking these images to the login user.

I am using profile services to store some attributes of users registered in the website. Now I am making a display profile page for a user. The problem is that the profile loads easily when I am running the site from VS 2010, but it gives the following error when I run it from IIS7 on my local machine:
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Source Error:
[Code]....

how could I include the functionlaity in my ASP.NET MVC site to allow users to search and download image from Google. Basically, I am planning to build the search interface where user can type image name and click search. It should then return the image set and user should be able to select any of them.

I would like users to upload a profile picture when they register, and to then show that picture in a picture box control when they are logged in based  on that specific user.

I'm authenticating my users using the following code for the login event:
[Code]....
The following code runs in global.asax at Application_AuthenticateRequest:
[Code]....
Everything works great so far. Next thing that I need to do is add additional user information to the forms authentication ticket using user profile. When I try to add it right after the login code above, I end up getting an error message about anonymous profile. On the other hand, HttpContext.Profile is read only and doesn't seem to work. Is there any workaround for this?

I got the followig task.Create a website (Profile.aspx) in which the User can create and edit his profile.Well, I know how to write in a database, but how do I get the UserName oder the UserID to make a PrimaryKey?If the user is logged in a session will be started. In this session is the UserName but I don't know how to read out the UserName with ASP.NET to make an PrimaryKey. If I would try to read out the UserName with C# I must save it in an variable and give it somehow to my form.

I have not yet done a deep dive into the Toolkit code. I need to try and make a couple of changes to the Calendar. The first one feels like an "it can't only be me that needs this" problem. I have EarliestDate and LatestDate parameters floating around. The requirement is to prevent the user clicking (ie they display as text rather than hyperlinks) any dates which fall outside of the two date limits.
An extension of that (not essential, more of a luxury) would be to prevent the user moving to months or years where the dates within that month/year are completely outside of the allowable range. The second one relates to when the initial view of the Calendar is Years. I need to either be able to specify that the initial display starts for a given historical year (without showing that year in the textbox); or [better] to be able to squeeze a larger number of years onto the display, so that the user can move back a greater number of years with fewer clicks.

I've done a bit of searching on this subject and haven't found anything so far. I am successfully using the Profile object and am saving Profile records away into my SQL Server Database. I have checked using the stored procedures and viewed the individual records to know they are there. However, I want to create a WebForm that can enumerate through all of the users in my Membership DB (Same DB as the Profile DB) and list each user in a grid showing what values each user has within their profile. For example:
Username
Profile Element 1
Profile Element 2
Profile Element 3
bob
true
false
true
fred
true
false
true
I want however to replace the 'Profile Element 1' etc etc to display the actual name of the Profile. I would like to do this programmatically so I don't have to recompile the website everytime I add a new Profile element.

This is how I edit the profile variables for a currently logged in user:
Profile.variablename = "this";
How can I do the same thing, but specifying the username whose profile variable I want to change, as opposed to just the currently logged in user?
Something like Profile.variablename.("username", "this") is what I'm looking for.
I'm using C# asp.net.

I want to use forms authentication on my ASP.NET MVC site. All I need is a place for users to login, a page to add a user, and a page to edit a user. I'm using all the default ASP.NET forms authentication tables for SQL Server (aspnet_Profile, aspnet_Roles, aspnet_Users, etc.). The only difference is that I've added an Employees table to my database, which contains a FK to aspnet_Users to create a one-to-one relationship. The Employees table contains columns for FirstName, LastName, StartDate, etc. It's a way for me to keep additional information for the users.
I'm having trouble finding any sort of tutorial that would help me build a basic page in MVC, everything I find is for WebForms. For my page to add a user, I'd like there to be fields for the Employees table. I don't know if I can modify the CreateUserWizard to add those fields, or if I'd be better off just creating my own custom page.

I wanted to add a field called "Account" to the User table (default Membership user system provided in ASP.NET) and this field would store a certain value, perhaps the shortname of a country (ie. "AU" or "NZ").I could then use this attribute to decide which rows of a particular database table to display to that user (based on the "Account" value in the displayed table linked with the "Account" value in the User table).
How can I modify that table without causing damage? Or is there a better way to do this?

I have an aspx page which I am pasting the code from. This page is a preview gallery which when I create a new gallery in my admin panel it auto updates to this page and places the text name I assign in the admin and assigns a page link which takes users to the actual gallery page for that preview... for instance I log in as admin and select manage free gallery.. enter the gallery name (for example" free preview") upload 8 or 9 images and a slideshow then hit submit. The gallery is then created and a link to that gallery is placed on my page for all free galleries. I want to not only have a link but an actual thumbnail image for these.. how would I do this given the code I am pasting below? I would also be willing to just eliminate the text link and go with a clickable thumbnail with a short description under it which actually would probably look better anyway. Pasted ASPX Code follows:
ok so I cant post the code because I am new..
