MVC :: Convert An .NET (1.0) Web App Over To The New .NET Framework and Make A Boat Load ?
May 12, 2010
I have to convert an .NET (1.0) web app over to the new .NET framework as well as make a boat load of changes to the app itselI have a few questions to some that are using MVC (even though I've read some things on it, I'm looking for real world responses) My current app, uses master pages, - can this remain in MVC?the current app has a drop down that is autopostback and when a user selects a new selection, the page displays that information. Can that process still continue in MVC?
The current app, has a boat load of grids that allow inline editing, I'm looking to take out the inline editing and open a JQuery thickbox or even a modalpopupextender to allow the user to do edits for that row, will that flow work within MVC? The current app also, has several formviews that allows for editing, can they work in the MVC world as well? I've been reading some articles that gridviews won't work in MVC, then I read some saying they do, as well as dropdowns using autopostback.
The app is nothing but grids with or without inline edits, about a dozen or so formviews to read and modify data based on the users permission level, a search, and some dropdowns that autopostback to display grids or formviews based on the selection.I'll be using Oracle as the backend database. So will all or some of the above features work with MVC or should I just do the app in .NET 4.0 using web forms? I'm up for either or, I'm looking to learn MVC and thought this real world project would work (if applicable) to learn it.
i installed Ajax Docs for asp.net 2.0 version ajax 1.0 in my computer, win xp sp2 visual web developer 2008 sp1 and sql server 2008 express.I receive a message that if i want to convert all projects to framework 3.5, and i did it,So i compile it and the project lose reference to namespace dll in the subprojects - LocalizingClientResourcesWalkthrough ( dll LocalizingScriptResources.dll) - System.Web.UI.ScriptReference ( dll SampleControl) When i delete these subprojects it gives error in the next one.
We are using WCF and ADO.NET entity framework in our ASP.NET 4.0 application. we are using Entity Framework in our WCF service to execute a storedprocedure and return the results.
[WebGet] public List<Cs_MT> GetSearchResult(string emailId, string localTitle, string colorGrouping) {[code]....
We are calling the WCF service from our client application and get the results as IEnumerable
I have a parent web application and a child web application. I am using single sign on between them. The child application is supposed to redirect anonymous users to the login page of the parent application We just updated both to .net 4.0 framework and now the SSO doesn't work anymore. The setup is as follows. I have the machineKey tag all set up with validation key and decryption key in both applications.then, for authentication tag i have the following in the child app (I have replaced the actual parent app's url with "parentApp" for privacy):
I am doing GridView Sorting without ObjectDataSource. For this requirement I need to convert DataTable to DataView, I know I can do that in VS 2008 but How can I do this in VS 2005.
I wanted to make extensive changes to a project, so I created a copy of the project folder. In the new version, I renamed all of my namespaces and a few classes. Everything compiles and runs, however, I am getting this javascript error. 'ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load' and my 'Auto complete' text box no longer works. This error does not occur in the original project.
The HTML source between the original and the new project are identical, save for the few lines of code that throw this error. The web.config files are identical.
I got gzip working, but there are issues with IE. (works fine with FF and Chrome) Message: ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load. (and many other js related errors)
How can I prevent gzip compression on ie browsers ?? Other people who had similar issues enabled compression in IIS and that seems to solve the issue, but I can't do this on my discount machine...
Changed the framework in VS2010 for the project from 3.5 to 4.0, did a build, and the error is pretty basic, and just says "HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found. Internet Information Services (IIS)".
I made sure IIS is set to 4.0, and have a separate App Pool. Any other tricks to get a 3.5 site to 4.0?
i am facing a serious problem with ajax that ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load and also sys is undefined.i have asp.net 3.5 service pack 1 installed on server.also using toolkitscriptmanager on pages have checked iis for .axd extension. It is there.system date is okk.have latest version of ajaz control toolkit.on localhost it is working fine.but giving error on live server.
I have a button that uses a ui framework icon on a content page as shown below. I would like it to change state if hover so that the user will know it's clickable. I see there is a.ui-state-hoverclass. How do I apply this to the button?
I developed and entity framework (.edmx) application in 4.0 in that i got all the data of my querying table and its foreign key referenced tables data also. but when i change my project to 3.5 i am unable to get the data of foreign key referenced tables data.
I have seen all the previous posts but did not got any solution. I am using URL routing and the website runs fine untill i change the global.asax file. Till then all the configurations runs properly. The web.config is also correct and ihave added the modules required for URL routing. Now when i change the global.asax file, i get the following error on my masterpage:
//<![CDATA[ if (typeof(Sys) === 'undefined') throw new Error('ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load.'); //]]> [code]...
what needs to be done since I'm trying to interpert other people's code. Anyway, here is my dilimma. I am running Windows 7 Professional x64 with IIS 7 and coding in VS 2010 using .NET 4 for the ASP.NET site. I installed the AjaxControlToolkit.NET4 in VS 2010 with no issues. I even used the Calendar Extender with a text box and image with no problems, at least when debugging. When I go to publish it out on my test IIS7 site
I have uploaded my application made in vs 2010 and asp.net 3.5 framework on windows Server 2003 R2. As i run my app i get an error1.ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load.2. sys is undefined.I already have 3.5 framework installed on my server and th latest version of ajax tootlkit dll added to my app.
I recently got a project and i would like to use asp.net to do it . I have to make a program that calculates some coordinates and comunicates with an airplane ( sending data through a radio connection ) . Can I do so with asp.net ? I mean isn't there any restriction in the privacy area? Will it let me send and recieve data to/from an airplane through a radio connection ?
I had a working .net website in a working VS2008 environment on a WinXP machine.Moved to Win7 machine, and now this maddening error comes up. I have no clue!Since the site and the development environment were working before, I can only assume it is an environmental problem. But what?
we have a AutoGenerateColumns-enabled WmxDataGrid in which we are able to update table rows in a DataBase connected with a SqlDataSource.
Each time we clear a field an empty string is written to the database where we want to write DBNull values.
At the moment we generate the update string via UPDATE... SET.. and the SQL Server function NULLIF(value, '').
Works proper but when I want to add the values to e.NewValues in BeginUpdate event I'm not able to read the values from the auto generated text boxes. How do I do that? Is there an easier way to automatically convert empty strings to NULL values?
In an MVC view, I'm looking for a way to determine if a parent entity's collection of child entities is empty, so I can decide if I need to call a RenderPartial() or not.
For a one-to-one I've been using the following:
<% if (Model.Book.GenreReference.EntityKey != null) %> {.....}
but I'm unsure how to do it in a one-to-many scenario, or if it can even be done without the use of Include() or Load().
I have developed an ERP module wihch runs on intranet. with ASP.NET /AJAX. It runs perfectly in my localhost. IIS. But when I try to run it on my development, It gives some errors of AJAX. undefined string literals. Microft ajax client-sisde framework failed to load. sys is undefined.. I've check my web.config file. But I cant find any problems into it.
I am sitting with a situation where i have a Method that that i want to put into a Class because i am calling it from various forms.
The method in this case loads a dropdown list. Currently i am stuck where i have to load the list into the DropDown Control on the form. I dont seem to get the control on the form. So far my code looks something like this This does not seem to work. I keep getting this error...
Error 3 Argument '1': cannot convert from 'string' to 'int'
I am using VS2010, .Net 4. I am trying to add a ScriptManager to my page, so I can reference an AJAX Enabled WCF Service. When I add the ScriptManager control to my page and view it - I get the error shown below. I have no clue how to resolve it. I get the error by simply putting the control on my page (not reference the WCF Service).
(script type="text/javascript") //(![CDATA[ if (typeof(Sys) === 'undefined') throw new Error('ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load.'); //]]) (/script)
Actually, my problem is that I am not able to access the service. I am referencing it inside the ScriptManager and have the javascript code in place, but Firefox is reporting that it cannot find it. Says it is not defined. I do not know how to test this or determine where it is failing.
