i have VS 2008 and i want to creat some asp.net sample applications with framework 4.
is there some method or update for vs2008 that let the vs 2008 users use framework 4 and controls?
VWD 2008 Express. Windows 7 (64 bit). I want all my work and settings for VWD 2008 to be stored in the public (shared) documents folder. There are settings under Tools>Options to specify where projects and templates are stored, that is part of the answer. However, whenever I open VWD it always creates a "Visual Studio 2008" folder in my personal Documents folder where it apparently stores some settings. How can I make VWD work entirely in the "Visual Studio 2008" public folder for everything and NOT create the personal folder?

View 4 RepliesHere is my problem: We recently upgraded our server to Windows Server 2008, IIS 7.5, which has .NET 3.5.1 installed. I have an ASP.NET 2.0 web application that needs to be migrated to this server, and as we are a non-profit organization, I need to do so as inexpensively as possible. It is a simple application and I do not need the new features in more recent versions of .NET, Visual Studio, etc. I just need to make it work.
Platform Summary:
ASP.NET 2.0 Application
.NET 3.5.1 Framework
Visual Studio 2005
My question is: Do I have to upgrade to Visual Studio 2010 in order to compile my 2.0 application to work with the 3.5 framework? Or is there another way to accomplish this?
I have visual studio 2008. But all my references are to the 2.0 framework. This is causing stability issues with my screensraper. How can get visual studio to use the 3.5 framework.
I have a Silverlight site hosted in an asp page, it has been developed using vs2010 using .net 3.5 framework and silverlight 4. It all works on my dev box. However when I publish the site and get it deployed I get the error:
Could not load file or assembly 'Moe.Tactical.Ttas.Web' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

I have checked that the ISS asp setting are using 2.0.50727, and that all my references are using that runtime also.
I am not sure what to do to work out what the missing dependencies are at this point (I don't have access to the deployment box, I will have to go and sit with a system admin).
I am running VS2010 and trying to make the asp.net configuration tool to work. The problem is: when I click on in in the menu, the server goes up but nothing happens.
If I type the url (localhost:port) in the browser, I get the following error:
Server Error in '/asp.netwebadminfiles' Application.
HTTP Error 404 - Not Found.
and if I copy and paste the /asp.netwebadminfiles to the url (localhost:port/asp.netwebadminfiles), the page loads with the following message:

Have anybody experienced problems in running Visual Studio 2008 in Windows 7 (64 bit)? Please post your feedbacks o0n using the Visual Studio on Windows 7(64 bit).

Then keyin ".", but it does not popup the intellisense menu for ADODB.connection.But, the native objects for asp, such as Request, Response, Session, Server.. etc., them popup the intellisense menu correctly.Or some other objects, such as "CDO.Message", them work fine !
we are planning to use ASP .NET and Oracle Database, however, I don't know what are the requirements for developement/Production machine besides .NET Framework and Visual Studio 2008 Express edition.I am confused between various providers.

In my investigating i have come across number of tools(shown below) to use with Visual Studio 2008 professional
Development tool:- Visual Studio 2008 professional using Subversion as source control tool. Continuous Integration:- Hudson or Cruise control Build tool:- NAnt Testing:- NUnit, Selinium As Visual Studio 2008 can be used for unit testing I think NUnit is out of consideration.
In the same way i would like to have any other tools/add-ons to Visual studio to implement continuous integration, building and unit testing. This process should be automated such a way source code between team members is continuously integrated, built and unit testing is done as configured.

I have a parent web application and a child web application. I am using single sign on between them. The child application is supposed to redirect anonymous users to the login page of the parent application We just updated both to .net 4.0 framework and now the SSO doesn't work anymore.The setup is as follows. I downloaded Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition via torrent.
It was working fine for months & i formatted my comp & when i tried to reinstall it is not getting installed !
It shows the following error !
and the error log file seems to be like this...
BUT.,
I'm able to use Visual Studio & i'm able to work in it....
I'm re-installing since 2 days for more than 4 times...
