I want the following code to be craeated on the fly (runtime). I will only add the root level grid to aspx and then in page load I want to add subsequent grids.I know we will use GridViewTemplate to add the grid but not sure how to structure it. The steps that I follow:
1. set the required properties of gridLevel01.
2. add BoundFields for level01.
3. Add template field for level02 grid....but not sure how to set other required properties like color and stuff....also not sure what position to add the subsequent gridviews.
Do I need to add the child grids to root?? I know the level2 grid will be added to level1 but what about level 3?

Create Dynamic Button With Dynamic Text?
Jan 7, 2011I have a project where I need to create menu buttons from a list in SQL Server. The problem I am having is that I need to add code to the text of those buttons. So there would be a birthday button and it should display the number of birthdays within the next two weeks or a button with the number of upcoming events.
Clarification:
There is no code yet, just some requirements. What I am doing is querying a table to get the list of buttons to display. Now each of these buttons may have dynamic text, for things like count of birthdays, events,etc... I am trying to see what the best way would be to handle this. Should I embed a snippet of code to go along with the menu item to execute when I iterate over the menu items? Maybe I should build a javascript file to go along with the code, which I add code to query a service for certain menu items?
Display Dynamic QR Code In Crystal Report In .net Page C# Code-behind
Mar 14, 2011I'm using CRv9 and want to make use of Google Charts API for generating QR code on fly (in asp .net) and display it in the Crystal Report in a PDF format.I have spent the whole day looking for solution with no luck. The way we output the report is we use .rpt file, feed it with data and use Response.OutputStream to feed to browser. No CrystalReportViewer control hence CSS solution is not an option.
Now, I got as far as added an OLE Object from file with Link, which I would be overwriting every time the new QR code is generated. I apreciate that CR requires it to be a bitmap, so I was planning to download and convert the google's generated PNG file to BMP, that's not an issue. The problem is that Image in the report does not update after I replace the file. Meaning, it displays the original image, which was added as an OLE Object.
If I open this report in CR designer, the image gets refresh/updated and I'd have to save changes to the report to see this new image next time I generate a PDF file.The question is really how to achieve a dynamic image in Crystal Reports 9? Remember, Picture object did not have a Graphic Location property until vXI, so I cannot use that.
Manipulations with DataSets is not an option either as we're not giving report a datasource, instead we just map the fields with FormulaFieldDefinitions.

Normally, for example, I would do this:

Nov 2, 2010I finally got the DynamicLibrary issue nailed down I asked about in another post. The basic gist is that there's a project table that renders to a View. The user can, at runtime, choose the columns to display and the order in which they should be displayed. Here's the method that does the work:

This works great. The SerializeToCsv() method is an extension method I created for generic string lists. I used the jQuery UI bundle to create a sortable set of 'ul li' elements with checkboxes in them, which allows users to select which columns to show, and in what order. When the post happens, the current order the elements are in on the View is the order in which they're added to the FormCollection, so I don't need to do anything special to track ordering. So far, all is working according to my evil plans.
The problem I have now is how to render this in the View dynamically at runtime. It's very easy to check for the Model's property values and display them selectively, but not to reorder them. Off the top of my head, I can think of a few ways to do this, but none of them are very attractive. The first idea is to send the Model in as a collection of objects. The query that returns the data as shown above already has the columns returned in the order the user chose, so I could wrap them in objects and render them as string representations in the View. This is clunky, ugly, and won't give me the support for the actual data types boxed in the objects. I'd have to convert them all to strings in the service class and then wrap them in objects, because the View wouldn't know if it was dealing with a DateTime, string, int or whatever. I REALLY don't want to take this route. Can anyone give me some advice on a better way to reorder and selectively display columns at runtime?
MVC :: Dynamic Javascript In Ajax Partial View?
Sep 13, 2010I have a partial view which uses Ajax.ActionLink to perform paging. The AjaxOptions in the link identify the update target (a div on the main view) and some javascript to run OnSuccess (in the partial view). The javascript must be in the partial view since there is some information in the partial view required to properly wire up the jQuery in the javascript. This isn't working as expected. The sample below is the minimum code to duplicate the behavior I am seeing:

I would expect that the value shown in the javascript alert would increase each time you click the link. I put in a break point and made sure the value was incrementing so it is definitely a problem in the ajax side. Is this by design? If so, what is the recommended work-around.
Disable Filtering On A Dynamic Data List View?
Aug 18, 2010I have an entity set of NotificationTemplates, and each one of these has a collection of zero-many SmsTemplate entities. When editing or viewing a NotificationTemplate, I have a link to View SMS Templates. That link takes me to a List view for the SmsTemplates entity set, filtered for the NotificationTemplate I was viewing.
How can I prevent the user changing this filter to show SmsTemplates for another NotificationTemplate? That is, I want the filter, but it must be read only. The drop-down just mustn't drop down, it must just display the name of the NotificationTemplate that these SmsTemplates belong to. To view SmsTemplates for another NotificationTemplate, the user must click View SMS Templates from that other template.

Jul 15, 2010I wanted to disable a button after it is clicked and at the same time fire the post back event to generate a report. My first set of code did not work because soon after the button is disabled the page won't submit/post back. here's the first set of code which was not implemented. the onclientclick calls a javascript function which has these lines

since it was not posting back,i tried the following on page_load code behind

that worked well. but I tried to copy the javascript that got generated and pasted directly on design view

its not working from client side alone after I disable the code behind attributes.add
but when I check the view source the 2 pages are the samewhy am I not able to move the code from code-behind to design view?

Feb 21, 2011I've inherited some code (not mine- I swear!) which uses a session variable in the header of the HTML to determine which javascript file to link to.i.e.

It does work, except that it won't let me change to design view. It gives the message
"Could not open in design view. Quote Values differently inside a '<%... "value" ...%>' block."
Anyone got any suggestions as to a workaround, that doesn't involve a huge rewrite.
