Web Forms :: Convert Aspx Code To Codebehind To Create Dynamic Gridviews?

Nov 19, 2010

How can I convert the following aspx code into code behind code?

[Code]....

I want the following code to be craeated on the fly (runtime). I will only add the root level grid to aspx and then in page load I want to add subsequent grids.I know we will use GridViewTemplate to add the grid but not sure how to structure it. The steps that I follow:

1. set the required properties of gridLevel01.

2. add BoundFields for level01.

3. Add template field for level02 grid....but not sure how to set other required properties like color and stuff....also not sure what position to add the subsequent gridviews.

Do I need to add the child grids to root?? I know the level2 grid will be added to level1 but what about level 3?

Web Forms :: Dynamic Gridviews With Textboxes Scroll Position?

Mar 21, 2011

I am building an application using masterpages, one of the pages contains dynamic gridviews with textboxes using templates. The textboxes have the autopostback enables to allow the calculation of the numeric values entered in each row.

The grid has 3 cols (3rd col has the total of the first and sec cols) the problem is that when i change the textbox (therefore a postback is created) the page scrolls up.

I tried the Page.MaintainScrollPositionOnPostBack = True but it does not work. Can i use any other method to solve this poblem.?

Forms Data Controls :: Lighten Too Many GridViews In One Aspx Page

Oct 30, 2010

the project I'm working on has become quite bigger then expected. And now I have pages containing about ten different GridViews (and it is likely to increase!!), each one with its own EditItemTemplate, ItemTemplate, FooterTemplate, style, properties, etc. And, of course, in the code-behind (C#) each Grid has its events handled. You can imagine: it is a mess, playing with visibility of each one, ImageButtons to hide them, further buttons for other actions. I decided to handle only events in the code behind, while using partial classes and additional classes for the rest of the code (SQL queries and everything else), but still, it's gettin a mess.

Well, my question is: is there a way to, how can I say, have a kind of separate files, where these objects are deployed, and from where I can reference them when running the application. Or, if it exists, a way to lighten aspx page and asp.cs pages. I know it's part of the job, so here the question is just intended to investigate whether a possibility to "distribute" the objects used in a web page exists.

I have a SQL query that returns about 5-10 records. For each one of these records I want to query another table using values in that row as parameters and create/populate a GridView. Can I create these GridViews and SQL connections programmatically in a for loop? I mean, I can't just plop ten GridViews and SQLConnections on my page at design time because I'm not certain how many rows will be returned in the first query. What should I do?

Web Forms :: How To "parameterize" Dropdownlist Names To Create Several Copies Of The Aspx Code

Feb 28, 2010

We have a row of aspx code that lists employees and hours worked and total hours. The text is quite simple and uses ajax to update the entries when the user selects a control for employees or enters hours worked on a particular project.

Currently, we have "hard coded" these lines of code. It works fine, but is quite tedious to change when requested. The difference between row1 and row2 is minimal. Just some control name differences such as

dlEmployees1 and ddlNrOfHoursWorkedRow1Col1, ddlNrOfHoursWorkedRow1Col2, ddlNrOfHoursWorkedRow1Col3, ..., lblTotalHoursRow1

on one row, and then

dlEmployees2 and ddlNrOfHoursWorkedRow2Col1, ddlNrOfHoursWorkedRow2Col2, ddlNrOfHoursWorkedRow2Col3, ..., lblTotalHoursRow2

on the next row. Etc.

Our first goal is to re-write one of these lines into something like an array that can be similar to dlEmployees[j], ddlNrOfHoursWorkedRow[j]Col1 and lblTotalHoursRow[j]

so we can add and reference the different drop down boxes in the c# code.Below is the actual code for 2 lines (sorry for the long post).

==================== code follows for 2 sample lines =====================

<!-- Drop Down Lists for Employee Names (1st Employee Row) (Row Nr 7 of Table) -->

Web Forms :: FindControl On Default.aspx In MasterPage.CodeBehind

Dec 11, 2010

I was wondering if it is possible to find a control in a standard web form that is using a masterpage.

So for example I have two pages - default.aspx and information.aspx. Both these web forms have label controls (lblDefault and lblInfo respectively). This information is stored in a database along with the content that the label controls should be populated with. Instead of having to program a method to retrieve the content text from the database for the relevent controls on these two pages would it be possible to find the controls in the masterpage codebehind file - something like Page.Form.FindControl("lblDefault")? So for each webform using a masterpage a check is done to see if any of the controls should be populated with content from the database.

Web Forms :: Changing Values Of Input Type Hidden Tags - Dynamic Paypal BuyNow Button Using .net Codebehind?

Nov 26, 2010

I have static html paypal buynow button that works great, but it's static.

[Code]....

But it is possible to change the values for the hidden inputs from .net codebehind code? I found this post which takes a different approach of sending these hidden fields instead as a query string to paypal. Not sure I like that though as would this not possiby explose some of those fields like the return page?

http://www.makaistudio.com/mksBlog/post/ASPNet-and-Paypal-buy-now-button-Offer-discount-at-checkout-in-code-behind.aspx

Basically what id like to do change the important parts of the button and info I'm sending to make it dynamic.I know I can do something like this in the markup, but that would mean having to fetch data mulitple times was hoping I could somehow adderss the field values directly in the codebehind. Or possibly dynaically generate and insert the entire changing input type fields from the codebehind

<input type="hidden" name="invoice" value="<%= getinvoice()%>">

Possible to add them with something like this: myform.Attirbutes.Add (???). If so how do I contruct these input types in .net?As far as return logic security, I've tested that it's solid, i just need to automate the button process so I don't have to create a buy now page and button for each product.

WCF / ASMX :: Return Dynamic / When Returns To Aspx Error At Aspx(no Exception Gets Caught At  @ Service)?

Feb 9, 2011

In our project WCF service is acting as our BLL.

i had scenario where i had to fill list of object class without knowing its type see code:

Added contract

[OperationContract]
dynamic GetReferenceTableData(string tableName);

method in service:

public dynamic GetReferenceTableData(string tableName)
{
try
{
dynamic tableData = ReferenceTableDAL.GetReferenceTableData(tableName);
return tableData;
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
throw;
}
}
method at DAL(ReferenceTableDAL):
public static dynamic GetReferenceTableData(string tableName)
{
Database db = DatabaseFactory.CreateDatabase(Flags.ConnectionStringKey);
DbCommand dbCommand = db.GetStoredProcCommand("USP_GETTABLEDATA");
dynamic objDynamic = null;
if (tableName.ToLower() == "a")
{
objDynamic = new List<A>();
}
else if (tableName.ToLower() == "b")
{
objDynamic = new List<B>();
}
else if (tableName.ToLower() == "c")
{
objDynamic = new List<C>();
}
try
{
db.DiscoverParameters(dbCommand);
dbCommand.Parameters["IN_TABLENAME"].Value = tableName;
DataSet dsTableData = db.ExecuteDataSet(dbCommand);
if (tableName.ToLower() == "a")
{
foreach (DataRow dataRow in dsTableData.Tables[0].Rows)
{
objDynamic.Add((A)dataRow);
}
}
else if (tableName.ToLower() == "b")
{
foreach (DataRow dataRow in dsTableData.Tables[0].Rows)
{
objDynamic.Add((B)dataRow);
}
}
else if (tableName.ToLower() == "c")
{
foreach (DataRow dataRow in dsTableData.Tables[0].Rows)
{
objDynamic.Add((C)dataRow);
}
}
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
throw;
}
return objDynamic;
}
@ Aspx
try
{
using (DataServiceRef.DataServiceClient petService = new DataServiceRef.DataServiceClient())
{
dynamic tableData = petService.GetReferenceTableData(tableName);
//tableData is null ,exception
}
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
throw;
}

There is no exception at dal or service end when i debug list gets filled ok but when returns to aspx error at aspx(no exception gets caught at @ service) but exception at aspx i.e:

Message:The underlying connection was closed: The connection was closed unexpectedly.

Creating Dynamic Buttons To Call A CodeBehind Function?

Mar 29, 2011

So I have a page that is rendering data from an MSSQL instance into an HTML table. The last cell has a button to download an uploaded file from the database which is created manually during the table creation so I can enter the recordid as a parameter of the button.

The upload and download functions work perfectly fine. The problem is that I cannot get my dynamically created button to work . All it does is post back but I never get the actual file to send from the server. (Although I verified it works through other means). Any suggestions would be great, I've litterally spent all day on this. below are a few code snippets of the different methods i've tried.

RenderControl. This is great but it loses the onclick method
