Dec 11, 2010I am using ADO.NET Entity Framework data model for my ASP.NET MVC project. I am trying to insert into multiple tables and called .SaveChanges() method. It doesn't throw any exception and doesn't insert into these tables.
What could be wrong here?

Web Forms :: File Download From Popup Window Doesn't Work
Apr 19, 2010Due to requirements, I need to open a popup window (javascript window.open(url)) and the url value is an aspx page that downloads a file.

I've tried numerous variations of this code: writing to buffer, Response.WriteFile(), Response.End(), etc...
Nothing works.
All the page does is pop up for about a second and then disappears. I can step thru the code in debugger, but the file never gets downloaded.
I've seen several other posts about this in various places, but no definitive answer.
I am using IIS7 Windows 2008 server.

I have written ajax to use a web service before, but on this project I am trying to use ajax to WCF.After I build the project and wcf using ajax, I receive the return successfully. But, 10 or more minutes later I don't get a return, the ajax calls the error function, and the fiddler returns nothing.
If I rebuild the project without any source modifying, I receive the return successfully again.

Aug 18, 2010I have a few linkbuttons that each open the save dialog to let users save file to the local machine. But after any link is clicked the page is dead afterwards (nothing works) and page has to be refreshed.
So do I have to force refresh after download is complete or does it have to do something with postback?

Download Link Not Working From Published Site?
Apr 5, 2010I have an asp.net that produces a Word document. I want to allow users to download the file to their local drive. I use a hyperlink to achieve this and it works fine from my development site. However, when the website is accessed from a non development machine, I am sent to the proper directory, but instead of the open/save/cancel dialog I am presented with a "Convert File" dialog. Any of the selected file types I select download unusable files. I think this has to do with office being installed on the local machine on which I am attempting the download. Is there any way I can simply download a file from a virtual file to my local drive?

I know you can do that using ClickOnce but I don't want a ClickOnce app so a added a setup project to my application that I just got to work the way I want so now I want to make it downloadable from my website.
