Possible To Work With IIS 5.1 And .NET Framework 3.5?
Mar 16, 2011
Is possible that the IIS 5.1 works with the .NET Framework 3.5 or higher? I have to build a simple Web page that has access to an SQL Server database quite simple as well (7 tables). I was considering using the LinQ technology for the first time but I think it is only supported with 3.5 version of the framework. The web page is ASP .NET, for accessing the database what do you recommend aside of LinQ?
I am using ADO.NET Entity Framework data model for my ASP.NET MVC project. I am trying to insert into multiple tables and called .SaveChanges() method. It doesn't throw any exception and doesn't insert into these tables.
What could be wrong here?
Object1 obj1 = new Object1(); obj1.TID = 300; //Auto generated but I am assigning the value. obj1.TypeID = 1; Object2 obj2 = new Object2(); obj2.TID = 300; obj2.StartDT = DateTime.Now; db.AddToObject1(obj1); db.AddToObject2(obj2); db.SaveChanges(); db.AcceptAllChanges();
I am using .net framework 3.5 framework & for database operations entity framework. So, to fetch the data i am using LINQ queries & returns a resultset in a list.e.g
I have a parent web application and a child web application. I am using single sign on between them. The child application is supposed to redirect anonymous users to the login page of the parent application We just updated both to .net 4.0 framework and now the SSO doesn't work anymore. The setup is as follows. I have the machineKey tag all set up with validation key and decryption key in both applications.then, for authentication tag i have the following in the child app (I have replaced the actual parent app's url with "parentApp" for privacy):
Here is my problem: We recently upgraded our server to Windows Server 2008, IIS 7.5, which has .NET 3.5.1 installed. I have an ASP.NET 2.0 web application that needs to be migrated to this server, and as we are a non-profit organization, I need to do so as inexpensively as possible. It is a simple application and I do not need the new features in more recent versions of .NET, Visual Studio, etc. I just need to make it work.
Platform Summary:
ASP.NET 2.0 Application
.NET 3.5.1 Framework
Visual Studio 2005
My question is: Do I have to upgrade to Visual Studio 2010 in order to compile my 2.0 application to work with the 3.5 framework? Or is there another way to accomplish this?
I have a Silverlight site hosted in an asp page, it has been developed using vs2010 using .net 3.5 framework and silverlight 4. It all works on my dev box. However when I publish the site and get it deployed I get the error:
Could not load file or assembly 'Moe.Tactical.Ttas.Web' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'Moe.Tactical.Ttas.Web' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.
I have checked that the ISS asp setting are using 2.0.50727, and that all my references are using that runtime also.
I am not sure what to do to work out what the missing dependencies are at this point (I don't have access to the deployment box, I will have to go and sit with a system admin).
I host a website that has recently been upgraded from .NET Framework 2.0 to .NET Framework 4.0. Within the website, I have an instance of BlogEngine which still requires .NET Framework 2.0. Each website is in it's own application pool. My issue is that when I browse to the blog portion of my website, I receive a 500.19 error with the following information...
The configuration section 'system.web.extensions' cannot be read because it is missing a section declaration The web.conf file that is listed in the error message is the config file that belongs to my root website which is running .NET Framework 4.0. How do I get the two websites to run together in the same website using different versions of the .NET Framework?
I have this cenario:One server (machine) that have framework 3.5. And one site (website) developed for framework 3.5.This site can not be modified (rebuild in other FW version, or others changes).
I'll developer a new webapplication (WAP) in framework 4.0 (using microsoft visual web developer 2010).
As I know, the new webaplication work in the server, if I install framework 4.0 in the server.
My question is: Can I install the framework 4.0 on the machine that already have framework 3.5. And continue have sites working with other frameworks version?Or, should I develop my new webapplication in framawork 3.5 ?If I can install the framework 4.0, do I need make some specify configuration during the installation?
We are developping with .net framework 2.0 on our dev station and we deploy on web server and client desktop a 3 tiers smart client app. what is the impact of ugrading to .net framework 2.0 sp2 on our web servers WITHOUT upgrading on dev station and compilation servers?
I have an old Web application which is using net framework 2.0(build with vs2005), now i need to move the old Web application to production server which has .net framwork 3.5 installed. Is there a way to export a EF 4.0 Data Model to EF 3.5?
I looked around and found that we are not able to access EF 4.0 from a ASP.Net 3.5 project here: [URL]
Our project is the 1st to go to .Net 4.0 using Entity Framework and we (the team) were wondering if there was a way for the other projects that "might" need to access our data that are still using the .Net 3.5 framework.
I have two questions, could anybody please answer to those:1) Do I need to install Dotnet framework 2.0 if dotnet framework 3.5 is already installed on the same server?2) Also do I need to install "ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions 1.0" if higher version is installed on the same server?

I am working on a multi-language web site. It is half English and half Portuguese. I have created forms that have portuguese values in it. These forms work perfectly on my desktop. I'm using Cassini as the development server. When I move them over to IIS, they are not loading properly. The text comes up all weird looking. I am a new to WCF. I have written ajax to use a web service before, but on this project I am trying to use ajax to WCF.After I build the project and wcf using ajax, I receive the return successfully. But, 10 or more minutes later I don't get a return, the ajax calls the error function, and the fiddler returns nothing.
If I rebuild the project without any source modifying, I receive the return successfully again.
