using asp.net you could create a listbox_valueChanged event and handle the user selection inside the event handler. How could i implement such a functionality using asp.net mvc? I guess that the best way could be to use ajax techniques in order to manage the user selection on the client side.
View 2 RepliesAs you can see in the picture below i've got a Page control with inital letters which cotains a listbox showing different wood articles. When i click on a Tab, the selected tab page get's a new Listbox control with the wood articels starting with the selected initial letter.

So far, it works fine for me. But when i change the selected Tabpage, the first SelectedIndexChanged in the listbox in the new shown tabpage is not recordnized. That means i have to select a new item and click on Search = the selected Item is still the item i selected before i changed the tab. Then i select the item again and click on search the index changed is recordnized. So why do i have to click two times on search to get the new selected item after a tab page changed?

I have an asp.net page with a list box on it. Multiple event handlers subscribe to its OnSelectedIndexChanged event.
When I change the SelectedIndex programmatically none of the events get fired.
Now a hack for this is to call each event handler, but this has already caused bugs since people didn't know they had to do this when adding a new event handler.
I can do this in a Winforms app and even when SelectedIndex is changed in code the events fire.
Your example doesn't work, or I have missed something, I work on a website for information...

After some code change I have published my AJAXised web application to the server and the application failes to work properly - something weird is going on, as all .aspx pages are displayed as an ASPX markup text (page declaration, html controls, etc.), rather than a page is being rendered as an html. I have not changed the webconfig, only changed my pages' content/code behind.

We provide the application in three languages (English, Dutch & French) which you can switch all the time. This has worked all the time for all users, well that's what we think anyway.
Yesterday I found out that switching from one to another language isn't working for 2 of our users. So I started testing a bit and I always got this error.
I'll try to explain what happens behind the doors when changing the language:
First of all the current language is saved in a session so we don't have to check the user row every time a page loads. Besides that we save the language in the users row in the database.

I am designing a program that will let me enter the name of an item to swap and adds the swap to an array list when a button Add is pressed. Once the item is added to the array list a Sub Procedure should be called which displays the contents of the array list in a list box.
The system will also allow me to remove items from the array list using a Remove button
followed by updating array list.
I have done some part which puts item into the listbox1 which i named lstSwapList.I would need some assistance on the Sub Procedure to display the Value or Description on the other listbox2 which i have also named lstContent,if a value is selected from the listbox1.
I would also want to know how to update the Listbox content,However i hv added a sample of the way i guess it may be.
Any complete solution from anybody on the Sub Procedure and the Update Swap procedure will be greately appreciated.

I have two list boxes, one has a list of available users (about 1500 items) and the other is blank. There is a button to add the seleted items from the first list box to the second one. Both of these listboxes are within an update panel and for some reason it takes over 20 seconds for the items to show up in the second listbox.
Is this normal? Is there an alternate, faster way of doing this?

For now i found out a lot of thing wich will work much better in the new frameworks, but my webhost still doesnt support it, because they have some problemms with PLESK.

View 3 RepliesSelectedIndex_Changed event occurs when selection changes, and selection is changed or not is decided by comparing dropdowns current selectedIndex and its value in viewstate.
When we changes dropdown's selected Item using Javascript, it does not change the viewstate's value (which is previously selectedIndex). Now if you change dropdown's selectedIndex to any new index it will work fine, but if you select the previously selectedIndex (which we reset using javascript), then postback will occur, but selectedIndex_changed function will not get fired because in viewstate of dropdown, selectedIndex is same as the Index we select after resetting it using javascript.
