For our ASP.NET project for school we had to build a sport event management web application.
We provide the application in three languages (English, Dutch & French) which you can switch all the time. This has worked all the time for all users, well that's what we think anyway.
Yesterday I found out that switching from one to another language isn't working for 2 of our users. So I started testing a bit and I always got this error.
I'll try to explain what happens behind the doors when changing the language:
First of all the current language is saved in a session so we don't have to check the user row every time a page loads. Besides that we save the language in the users row in the database.

What is the best way to get the value of a dropdownlist control before it has been changed and after it has been changed. Can it be done in one routine? In other words, if a user clicks on a dropdownlist control and changes it's value, I need to get the old value and the new value and send both these values as input parameters to a stored proc.

I've got the CheckboxList set to AutoPostBack so I know only one Checkbox changed, but I don't know how to detect which one.
Unfortunately, the SelectedIndex property of the CheckboxList is useless. I'm sniffing around checking the ViewState, but I'm not sure if that'll work or how I go about that.

so I want to calculate these 2 values in to a Label called lbltotal.
So then according to the selected value of 1st or 2nd drop down total should be changed.
I have a form that can be used to input new records, or to review previously entered records... What is the best way to tell if any of the fields have been updated? I have a fairly sized relational DB and I hate to update every associated record in every table every time the update button is pressed. I am implementing a web form, and when a checkbox is clicked, contents of the form are changed (i.e. additional checkboxes are being selected), and webform is refreshed to show the new contents. however, instead of displaying new contents within the original IE window, a new IE window is openned with new contents, and the old window remains there without any content update. i did not request for window.open or provide a _blank to specifically indicate a redirect should go to a new IE window. I just want the original IE window being refreshed to reflect the content changes. i have worked with asp.net for years and i think that be default refresh of the webform to reflect new changes always stay in the same IE window and thus never pay attention on how to open or surppress a new IE window? i think it is some config, but don't know what config and where i should look for it.

Strange thing is that when i make a textbox in webusercontrol and then try to set its value thru this function.

may be it is happening coz it is in updatePanel??

View 3 RepliesAs you can see in the picture below i've got a Page control with inital letters which cotains a listbox showing different wood articles. When i click on a Tab, the selected tab page get's a new Listbox control with the wood articels starting with the selected initial letter.

So far, it works fine for me. But when i change the selected Tabpage, the first SelectedIndexChanged in the listbox in the new shown tabpage is not recordnized. That means i have to select a new item and click on Search = the selected Item is still the item i selected before i changed the tab. Then i select the item again and click on search the index changed is recordnized. So why do i have to click two times on search to get the new selected item after a tab page changed?

I have a textbox which is read only and there is a calender besides the textbox.When the user selects the date in the calender pop up, the text in the textbox is populated but it doesn't trigger the text change event.Can anyone tell me how to trigger an event when the text is changed on the textbox?

I delete a folder in temp directory in myFunc method. The folder's name is the same of value in Session["id"], like this:

When the last code( Directory.Delete(dr.FullName) ) is run, the all session in project is changed to null. If i disable the last code( //Directory.Delete(dr.FullName) ) every thing work properly(all session have the value). Why when i enable the last code, all session are null? What's the problem and how can i solve it?
