MVC :: Use Validation On A Partial Control?

I have created a control that I use often on my web sites. To this control I hava a ViewModel class that has a property witha required attribute. I my "master"page I show this partial view but i can not get the validation on the view right in my master page.
This is how I have done it in short.
I have a ascx page containing a textbox and a button. If the textbox i empty when I press the button i Would like to show the user a red box around the textbox and some validation test. The partial view is strongly type with an class that contains only a string property for the textbox and has attribute [Required(Errormessage="Please enter a valid registration number")] just above the property.
Om my page that contains the partial view i looks very nice but I can not se the validation message or the red bos around the textbox how do I get the ModelState.IsValid from the partial view or how do I solve it so I can use the nice feature in DataAnnotations. I ´have search over the net but can not find any example code how to solve it. Does it work without java script?

I have 2 projects. A data project, which contains my database and my Entity Framework model. I have table called 'User', and then have a generated EF class for user. I am trying to add a partial class:

This is following the MVC 1.0 NerdDinner example. However, I am getting a design time error on the OnValidate method:

No definining declaration found for implimenting declaration of partial method 'void OnValidate(ChangeAction action)' What am I doing wrong?

got a question regarding form validation via entity partial class. I created my edmx-file with the Entity Data Model. Now I am trying to validate my form inputs via this partial class:

This project I'm working on have this custom clientside JavaScript validation framework created for (which I cannot change) that show error messages/summary based on your data annotations and a "Validate" method in your ViewModel.
Like I said I'm not allowed to change this, so wont be able to go with suggestions doing that.
What the person that created this did not foresee, is that one might need put several partials of the same type and having the same view model (each in a form) on a view.
So I went ahead and did things the normal way (using Html.whateverFor<model => model.whatever) and wala!....the custom validation thing throws error messages for the specific form fields, next to each form in the view. I was suggested to create a "prefix" for each instance of the view model, and do something like this:
Change: <%: Html.HiddenFor(model => model.AccountNumber)%>
To: <%: Html.Hidden(Model.ElementPrefix + "AccountNumber", Model.AccountNumber)%>
Not to mention the tons of jquery selectors and all that I have to go change (and all my view inputs)
(I just hate having to find workarounds for this "custom" everything they created for this project)

I am creating dropdown controls in code behind. in some conditions I need to add validation control to dropdowlist. But Validation not firing when I submit button.

I have an interesting problem when using partial page update in asp.net with scriptmanager and a update panel.
My scenario looks like this: I'm using the tab control from the ajax toolkit. I also implemented this control using lazy loading, so that when the page is loaded only the current tab gets loaded all the other tabs don't get rendered, because Im using an UpdatePanel (on a .ascx control) on each of these tabs and when a tab gets selected the updatepanel makes a async postback to load the content for a selected tab.
On one of my tabs Im using a combobox control from obout.com, and it doesn't work. Now I know why it doesn't work. It doesn't work because the control is shown via a partial page refresh, but to correctly display the control it has to do some "magic" that is - register some .css and .js includes on the page (in the head I guess)....but because I load this control via async page refresh.

How do I implement partial page caching with an AdRotator control? I know it's supposed to do it automatically, but I'm using the AdCreated event to handle stats, and this seems to cause the ad to be cached along with the rest of the page.

This upload is working. But why the page is getting refreshed? this is not partial post back and instead it 's full post back. i have read the articles for the fileuplaod with issue inside the update panel. is there any way to achieve this asynchronous upload on button click?
I don't want to use the Ajaxtoolkit  Asyncupload because that will upload (Ref : [URL] ....] the moment when we seelct the file itself which i don't want to do that. i need to do on the button click event.Â

I am using one datalist control for uploading multiple images.I hv used one Asp:FileUplaod Control and one button in one itemtemplate.I am using reqired field validator and regular expression validator for file upload cntrl I am assigning validation group for both of them on ItemDataBound event of my datalist so that each upload cntrl hv same validaton group as required field and regular expression validator.Now what i want to do is - i want to show my error message in validation summary which is right at the top of the page.I want one know how to write javascript that will assign validation group of my control in datalist on which i click ?

I have a text box that is intended for an Email address. I am using a Regular eExppression validation control to validate the email address. When I place the following lines of code in a blank web Form, the validator works properly.

I have an MVC view that contains a number of partial views. These partial views are populated using partial requests so the controller for the view itself doesn't pass any data to them. Is it possible to reload the data in one of those partial views if an action was triggered in another? For example, one partial view has a jqGrid and I want to refresh the data in another partial view when a user selects a new row in this grid. Is there a code example for this scenario (in C#) that I can look at to see what am I doing wrong? I am using ajax calls to trigger a new request but non of the partial views are refreshed so I am not sure if the issue is with the routing, the controller,

Do we have to do something special to have ASP.NET partial classes aware of controls that are declared in our user control's base classes? The partial classes keep generating declarations for controls in the base class which mean the controls in the base class get hidden and are null.

I have a Gridview with a number of Template fields, where the values are all binded to a DB.
I can handle the validation in the codebehind (C#) fine, as far as that singe control.
BUT
I want the validation to be dependent on one of the controls in a Different TemplateField
ie.

Template B
Template c
Template B & C dependent on Template A

I have a page with a number of user controls, In one of my user controls I have a button event. I turn on output cache for the user control that has the button and vary by control using the ID property of a hidden field control in the user control. whenever I turn on the output cache my button event doesn't fire.

I started using the awesome chart controls with my asp.net apps recently and so far they've been nothing short of breath taking. Right now I have a weird problem, on the first load of my page, the chart control appears correctly and the tooltip is correct, however, when I update it with new data, the chart displays correctly, but the tooltips are for the previous set of data.
I hope this makes sense. The first time I load the chart, the pie chart segments and tooltips are correct, after a partial postback (to get the new data), the pie chart segments are correct but the tooltips are for the previous data set.
Basically once the tooltips are set the first time, they can't be updated after that without a full page postback.
Here's how I set the tooltip:

Anyone else noticed this behaviour and have a work around?
Currently my only workaround is to check for a partial postback and not render the tooltip, which I'd rather not do as the tooltip display actual statistical data as opposed to the pie itself (which uses percentages).

I have 2 text boxes in which I am comparing the numeric value of one to the other. At first it works fine and I get the appropriate error message. But eventually as i plug in different numbers although I should be getting an error message I stop getting one. Is there something going on behind the scenes to fire the error message than I am unaware of. Also the error message fires some time when the value is less than the value of another control and equal to the value. I only want it to fire when it is less than the value of the other control.

I have a fileUpload User Control FileUploadControl.ascx containing asp.net fileupload control and a requiredfield validator.I have another usercontrol RenderingTemplate.ascx that contains two FileUploadControl.ascx.RenderingTemplate.ascx is on page RenderingTemplateDetails.aspx, this page has save and cancel button.Now My requirement is in case user selects a file in one fileupload control,he has to select in other as well. I am creating a custom 'control' which is simply made of two html inputs [type=text] but can't figure out how the validation will work on the view end.
I want to treat these 2 inner controls as asingle control so when a error is added to modelstate both of these inputs are highlighted in the view and a single validation message is shown.
