Jul 15, 2010Brief introduction:I have this ASP.NET Webforms site with the particularity that it doesn't have only 1 database, it has many.Why? Because you can create new "instances" of the site on-the-fly. Every "instance" share the same codebase, but has its own database. These all databases have the same schema (structure) but of course different data. Don't ask 'why don't you put everything in one database and use InstanceId to know which is" because it's a business policy thing.
The application knows which instance is being requested because of the url. There is one extra database to accomplish this (I do know its connection string in design time). This database has only 2 tables and associates urls to 'application instances'. Then, of course, each 'application instance' has its associated connection string.
Current situation: There is nothing being used right now to help us with the job of mantaining every instance database in sync (propagating schema changes to every one). So we are doing it by hand, which of course it's a total mess.
Question: I'd like to use a rails-migration way to handle schema changes, preferably migratordotnet, but could use any other if it's easier to setup.The problem is that migratordotnet needs the connnection string to be declare in the proj.build file and I don't know them until runtime. What it would be REALLY useful is some kind of method running on *Application_Start* that applies the latest migration to every database.How could this be done with migratordotnet or any similar?

Oct 12, 2010I have ASP.Net application, It using mix .net framework, there are project with ,net framework 1, 2.0 and 3.5. buat they are in separated project / location. And its running well before.I have a problem when I migrate my application from old development server to new one, FYI, my old server is windows server 2003 32 bit with oracle 10g, and my new server is windows server 2008 64bit with the same oracle version. I have set all configuration identically in both servers. using same database schemas, and same application.Overall, the application running well, but I was surprise when I found some error page while I running application in new server. error message is : ORA-00918: column ambiguously defined I don't know how the error happen, whereas in old server, no error at all with identically configuration.any one have same problem ?is it because 32bit & 64bit ?

Dec 20, 2010I've done a thousand searches today and am at a total dead end. I am creating a mailing list where users can add their Email address, and Admin can delete addresses and send Email. I am using streamreader to edit the text file and was hoping that I could simply send specify the Bcc recipients by either referencing the list items or the content of the text file. I cannot get it to work either way, nor can I actually get the form to send an Email to multiple addresses by manually editing the code. I tried commas, colons, triangular brackets... the best I can get is the last Email address included being sent the Email, all addresses before do not receive an Email?!?
I know you can create multiple instances of Email.Bcc.Add and include every Email address uniquely, but I have no idea how I'd go about adding anything that creates a new string for every Email address in the text file. Also - I plan on using the standard 'to' field as the site's own Email address - part confirmation that the Email has sent.

Currently i am doing the same using dataset..but the problem is that when Large amount of data is coming in dataset so during the tranfer of data server gives me a Time out Error.
And another thing i am not want to utillise a server memory because there is Lacs of data into the Database for migrate.

Jul 15, 2010I have small project (C#, Visual Studio 2005, .NET 2.0) that runs a SQL stored procedure and creates an e-mail from the result set. The "To," and "CC" fields are populated from the results. My procedure will only return a single "To" addressee but there can be multiple CC's. The stored proc is written to concatenate them all into a single string, e.g. "[URL]" etc. So..... in my project I am using System.Net.Mail. When I try to code "myMessage.CC.Add(read.GetString(3))" I get the following error:
The specified string is not in the form required for an e-mail address. In .NET 1.1 using System.Web.Mail this worked just fine. The change to System.Net.Mail resulted in this error. I really can't modify the stored procedure so I need to find a way to get my application to populate the CC field with the complete string returned by that stored procedure. How can I do this? The e-mail addresses are dynamic and I can't hard-code them.

Mar 3, 2011I have a "Contact Us" page where in users will give in their email id and a query and on submitting the form, web admin would receive that email.
If I configure their email id to "from" MailAddress and send the mail, it will fail to do so if the ID is from popular mail domains like gmail or hotmail but would work with other unpopular or non existent domains like me@abcxyzmail.om without any credentials provided!
It worked with gmail after I configured SMTP and network credentials properly. The aim is to let the admin of my website who receives the email be able to hit the reply button in his mail client and see the "to" field populated with the "from" field filled in "contact us" page. Is there any proper way to do this or a tip or trick to accomplish it.
