I need to open a second browser window or tab, but it must have a different session ID.
Opening the new browser window from an ASP.NET page is easy, but then it shares the same cookie and thus session ID with the original.
I'm retrieveing pdf file from SQL Server 2008 and i wish to display it in new browsers tab. I successfully retrieved and displayed pdf document when i had pdf viewer installed.
My problem is, that after i unistalled pdf viewer, i got this window, which would be ok if the file wasn't WebForm2.aspx but let's say MyDocument.PDF
Am i doing something wrong? How could i achive that the file would be FileName.pdf and not FileName.aspx (in case of no viewer).

basically i have an ASP.Net Page i show within an iframe inside the MS CRM.
when i try to do a submit using a button it opens a new window and shows the result there, i want it to stay in the iframe.

An ASP.NET application (actually with Silverlight but it doesn't matter) is hosted in Outlook as folder home page. In this application there's a link to open popup window, which opens a separate IE window, not in Outlook.
The problem is that in this case it seems that ASP.NET session is lost. A call to ASP.NET service has nothing in Session and Session._id is different. I suspect that Outlook has different cookies than IE.
How do I preserve session when opening IE popup from Outlook? Maybe pass session id via URL somehow, or configure this in web.config?
Problem Statement: I have a details web page which has a unique sesssion ID generated per user. Now if a user does Ctrl + N or File > New Window and opens a new browser instance then the same session ID is genrated and user can update on both the windows differently and this leads to ambigous updates to DB. How can we stop user to open a new window or how can we detect that a new instance of the same session ID has been genrated twice so as to kill both the sessions with a user firiendly message.

Another strange this is that I can close the IE and open FireFox and the session is in there too. HOW IS THAT? I am thinking it is how my environment is setup. I have the sessions set for InProc and using cookies in IIS. What is different in IIS7?
Update: I am using integrated mode for my app pool. I looked at an older site I created using .net 3.5 and iis6 running on Sever2003. I can log into the site and it creates the session variable for me. I then go to FireFox and open the same site. It requires me to log in (my application will take you to your prfile if a session exists). If I then close IE and reopen IE, then go back to my site, it requires me to log in again. What is happening with iis7 and my current application, is quite odd. The only difference in how my session is pulled is that I am getting the variable while casting the current handler to the Page object: (Page)HttpContext.Current.Handler
Update: well, I think i found where the issues is and it has to do with casting the HttpContext.Current.Handler to the current page object. I have a configuration file where I wanted to put a property so all other classes could reference a central point to grab the User session object I created. The HttpContext.Current.session was always null and someone had suggested casting the HttpContext.Current.Handler. I created a simple page that checks to see if a session varaible has been created and if not it creates it. Then I print out the value. When I close the browser, the session is GONE. So, that is working. The code I had origianlly in this message was really for the back button, So I guess it is not clear why that session pulled from the Hnadler is always available until I speicifcally clear it.
If Someone has logged in to website and directly closes the window without clicking signout button where i have written a code to clear all session.
So in this case how i clear a session when user closes window directly?

Im having the flowwing problem i have a gridview that i want to list many records when i click on a row iwant to be able to click on a button and go to the form of this record in order to update it. All the navigation works fine.I click on the button and then using javascript i window.open the page that has the form the problem is that when the new page loads the parent page (the page that has the gridview refreshes and because there are many records it is really annoying how can i use window open to pop up a child page without having the parent window to refresh.
Because im using all this in a dotnetnuke framework i have tried enabling and disabling partial rendering to the parent page page but always refreshes when i open the child window
we are running a click-to-call service, my idea is basically like this: website have a link on their page, when the link is clicked, a web page(say it is popup.aspx) hosted on our server is popup, user can input their phone number, and click "call me" button to let the website call him. Trying to open up a form in a new window while passing some values. It is working, but it is client side (My ASP co-worker finally grabbed the reigns and implemented a bit of his ASP magic to open the form and transfer the values.) But it's so messy, and I hate the fact that I have been bested by old technology.
I was doing this client side before, using window.open and transfering the variables in the URL, but I was getting flack for doing that. So I looked at alternatives and found session variables, which you set server side. So now we want to open the form. I tried the following (individually): Response.Redirect("OtherForm.aspx") and Server.Transfer("OtherForm.aspx") Which replaced the original form in the open window instead of a new window.
I spent a lot of time searching for a solution but the answer keeps coming back to "Just inject some JavaScript to open your form." Is there no "normal" way to open a form in ASP.NET. In any case I guess the real question I would like to ask is what is the best way to open a child form from a parent form?

The fils containing these control work fine in another project and they work fine on visual studio so I guess it is safe to assume that the problem is not in the files or with the server but has something to do with the project? What could be causing this?
