View 1 RepliesI am putting the setting under the property of one of my C# Class Library project for app setting:
EUCAccountService_ConnectionString
EUCTelcoDB_ConnectionString
In the development, it works nicely. Until I deported to production, I realise that the component that use those thing .. it just hang. I found that under BIN when it compiled dewaCorp.EUC.TelcoDB.Data.dll.config and open up that file and turn out nothing.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<configuration>
</configuration>
How to make this works? I thought by compiling it, it turned to some sort config file or something. But it didn't.
To start, I am a new web developer. I have been writing C# for about a year, but just recently learning web development. I wrote an application that connects to a MySql database and when I run it on my localhost it wokrs great! I created a ubuntu server on amazon ec2 and it is hosting my MySql server. It is up and running just fine. I created a windows 2008 server instance on amazon ec2 to host my asp.net project. I published my project to my windows server and I went to my public IP address and my site was there! it was so easy...
However, when I went to login, I recieved this error: Could not load file or assembly 'MySql.Data, Version=6.3.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c5687fc88969c44d' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. I made sure the correct connector was installed on ym server. I have the most recent mysql connector installed. I do not know how the publish actually works. I saw some forum posts that said maybe I was missing DLLs from my bin directory but I cannot even find my bin directory for my project on the server. I also saw some posts about changing the web config file, but that was gibberish to me at this level.
Have a project that was created in Visual Studio 2008 and deployed to a 64-bit Windows 2003 server. This application references a 32-bit Interop.ActiveDs.dll. The applications were originally compiled for 'Any CPU', however, explicitly compiling as 'x86' doesn't solve the problem. The project targets the 3.5 framework.
The server is running IIS 6.0 in 64-bit mode. When we deploy the version compiled in Visual Studio 2008, the app runs perfectly fine; all pages show up. In retrospect, this is actually surprising.We migrated the application to Visual Studio 2010 (we did not change the targeted framework) and redeployed. Now we get a BadImageFormatException loading Interop.ActiveDs.dll. Which actually makes more sense than the 2008 version running.To solve the problem, we set Enable32bitAppOnWin64 to true and ran aspnet_regiis.exe -i from the 32-bit folder of the 2.0 framework (as per various instructions on the web). In IIS, web service extensions, there were two versions of ASP.NET 2.0, one for 32-bit and one for 64-bit. We prohibited the 64-bit version, restarted IIS, and launched the website.
What we expected: The app to run as 32-bit, load the interop, and display
What we got: "Service Unavailable"All other web pages that were previously working displayed the same message, as did the Visual Studio 2008 version.The support page here describes the problem exactly, but tells us to do exactly what we did to resolve the problem (enable 32-bit mode).We've rolled back to 64-bit mode in IIS and deployed the Visual Studio 2008 version for now, but we really need to figure out how to make this app run and load the interop (there are also 32-bit Oracle DLLs that are referenced)Two questions:Why does the Visual Studio 2008 version work at all??
How do we get the Visual Studio 2010
free and opensource free DALand BOL generator. C#.
View 2 RepliesI am looking for an open source Thermometer that i can connect to a JSON or XML datasource and display this on my website.
The site is an asp.net site so javascript controls are not a problem. My Googling didn't reveal very much at all.
i have an project with name called(dbservice layer) which is in path: d:webserviceDBService. here i have an webservice which connects to DB and returns an object of an class.
once i added an reference here i get an url:http://localhost:2371/Jobs.svc
now i have another project name (UILayer) whic is in path: E:SchoolUILayer i added an service reference here with url as http://localhost:2371/Jobs.svc but i get an messgae telling service is unable why is that happening.

I need to implement Routing or Url-Rewriting in my application. So, is there any utility like logging utility Elmah. I dont want to write much code, I need to configure and start playing.
View 2 RepliesOn PHP Platforms like Worldpress, Joomla, OSCommerce there are plenty of beautifull templates some even free, I cannot find any asp.net cms (the ones in Microsoft Gallery are boring) that has such a variety of templates, am I missing something in my search or do you know some ?
View 1 RepliesApp works well on local intranet, but having problema on external access?
View 4 RepliesLocally I have the cascading dropdown which loads countries in a cascading dropdown working.
But as soon as I place the code on the hosting server, Firebug shows me an:
500 Internal Server Error - [URL]
The cascading dropdown just shows "[Method error 500]"
REMEMBER: IT WORKS ON MY LOCAL SERVER!!!
local configuration:
Windows 7
IIS7.5
ASP.NET4
server configuration:
Windows Server 2008
IIS7.5
ASP.NET4
So it almost MUST be something on my hosting server! :s I dont know what to configure though...

Does anyone knows why HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath within a server control works when I run the server control but gives and error whilst in Design mode?
View 2 RepliesI want to Access remote server( ie., want to access online server not local server) in my Application.. I change Settings in SQL surface Area Configuration---> Remote Connection ( checked the Local and Remote Connection ) Then while running the application it showing the following error.(I make off the firewall also) An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

mov is a quicktime file, my server has the mimetype: video/quicktime .......... but as I read, this code forces the save as download box which is exactly what i want :) now, here's the catch, i the file I am fetching is NOT on the physical path... it is on a completely different server:Protected Sub LinkButton1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles LinkButton1.Click
Response.Clear()
Response.ContentType = "x-msdownload"
Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", ("attachment; filename=mydownload.mov"))
Response.TransmitFile("http://myOTHERserver.com/files/mydownload.mov")
Response.End()
End Sub
Obviously this doesn't work since TransmitFile requires that the file be on your physical path, so how do i do this? Someone said you must use the stream method. Do you have any sample code I could try? I've tried the HTTPStreamReader object but it's giving me issues, so I would love to find out if there is anyway this might work. Now here's some more important information: this are HUGE video files.. we are creating a downloads page... written in asp.net -- so you create an account using the .net membership class, then you select the file you want, go through a form where you enter your billing info and then after you pay a certain fee (this is already implemented), you go to your "downlaods" area in your account... there you have access to the files......... the reason i'm doing this is because i want to hide the download link, which will be something likehttp://myOTHERserver.com/2340987sdfkjhalsdlkjh23 ... (something really crazy)....... we don't want people seeing this on the status bar (Therefore hiding the download link is ESSENTIAL)........ the files are a good 500MB each approximately; so i would love to hear all of your suggestions as to making the streamreader work for me and how long would it take for the streamreader to READ the file........
I've never had this problem before, I'm at a total loss.
I have a SQL Server 2008 database with ASP.NET Forms Authentication, profiles and roles created and is functional on the development workstation. I can login using the created users without problem.
I back up the database on the development computer and restore it on the production server. I xcopy the DLLs and ASP.NET files to the server. I make the necessary changes in the web.config, changing the SQL connection strings to point to the production server database and upload it.
I've made sure to generate a machine key and it is the same on both the development web.config and the production web.config.
And yet, when I try to login on the production server, the same user that I'm able to login successfully with on the development computer, fails on the production server.
There is other content in the database, the schema generated by FluentNHibernate. This content is able to be queried successfully on both development and production servers.
I have some code that allows users to upload file attachments into a varbinary(max) column in SQL Server from their web browser. It has been working perfectly fine for almost two years, but all of a sudden it stopped working. And it stopped working on only the production database server -- it still works fine on the development server.
I can only conclude that the code is fine and there is something up with the instance of SQL Server itself. But I have no idea how to isolate the problem.
I insert a record into the ATTACHMENT table, only inserting non-binary data like the title and the content type, and then chunk-upload the uploaded file using the following code:

I created one textbox custom control and i opened new asp.net web project. now i register my custom control in my web project.
Afterthat i can't able to access my custom control textbox and its not showing in my web project(not web application).
its working in my local machine, the same way i upload all the files to my remote server its not working.
Let me know , what mistake i have done and what way can i access my textbox controls in my web project.
through webproject how to get the custom controls values.
I've ran trough many websites and tried soo many things that I've finally decided to try it creating a question of my own. This is the error that I get when I try to access my WCF project from my Silverlight 4 app. anyone have any idea on how to fix this error? PS. If anyone needs any more information let me know.
An error occurred while trying to make a request to [URL] This could be due to attempting to access a service in a cross-domain way without a proper cross-domain policy in place, or a policy that is unsuitable for SOAP services. You may need to contact the owner of the service to publish a cross-domain policy file and to ensure it allows SOAP-related HTTP headers to be sent. This error may also be caused by using internal types in the web service proxy without using the InternalsVisibleToAttribute attribute. see the inner exception for more details.
i have created asp.net project and added it in vss but when i tried to access from another pc is not allow

I have 2 projects in my solution.
MVC Web application
Class library
The MVC Web application references the class library.
The class library contains a class that extends the default ASP.Net Controller.
I'm putting a variable in session in the application's Global.asax.
protected void Session_Start(object sender, EventArgs args)
{
HttpContext.Current.Session["DomainName"] = Request.Url.Host;
}
In the class library I'm trying to get the value from the HttpContext.Session, but HttpContext.Session keeps coming up null.
[code]...
HttpContext.Current.Session doesn't seem to be an option in controllers.
I am using VB.Net/ASP.Net 2008 and I have a solution with 3 projects:
1. DAL
2. BLL
3. MainWebProject
anyways because it's a Web Application Project (not a web project) I had to set it up so I could access the Profile using Imports System.Web.Profile in the MainWebProj but I can only access the profile in that project.
anyways I need to access the Profile in the DAL also, and I figure since I can import the Profile in my MainWebProj there must be a way to also import that into the sister project, DAL.
My Issue: I can import a class in Project A but not Project B. Is there import syntax so I can also import the namespace in Proj B?
I have a created a solution using visual studio 2008 and added a new project namely "test".
In this project i added a folder namely "code" and in this folder i added a class file "class1.vb".
But i am facinng problem when i am going to create object of that class1.vb in default.aspx.vb page
i want to access my class1.vb methods.
I have a search box on a web application that is to use a query I have built in Access to search through projects to find any that are related to the text entered in the search box.
The query in Access is just made up of parameters that use wildcards to search through all the fields. In Access the query works fine and returns the correct data but when I try and link this all up to a ListView in Visual Studio, the ListView just diplays the message "No data was returned"
Below is my page-behind code, hopefully you can see why it is not working but it looks like it should work to me.

I have been working on a stored procedure to calculate likert scales for course evaluations. I have the stored procedure done but I ran into an interesting but frustrating situation.
I used a case statement along with a select query to count the number of responses of a given value. Likert scales are usually 5 point scales 5 being the highest and 1 being the lowest. The value that gave me the trouble was null values. In my evaluation page the instert query puts a null value in the field instead of leaving the response blank. These are the two queries I used both are syntactically correct but one works and the other doesn't. #1 Null query that works
[Code]....
Can anyone explain the differences and why one works but the other doesn't? Can it be as simple as switching the WHEN and the column name and if it is would it be advisable the other ones around?
I have two web servers plus my desktop. I use Visual Studio 2008 to generate asp.net pages. I put a statement like:
response.write("Testing if function: " & if(0>1,"true","false") & "<br />")
in a code-behind file (test.aspx.vb). When I type it, Intellisense clearly recognizes the IF function and gives me guidance on the two overloaded versions. When I Build the page, it gives no errors, but when I View in Browser, I get an error: "BC30201: Expression expected." with the compiler details pointing to the IF. When I run the page on my test server, I get the same result, but when I run it on my production server, it works just fine.
