I Have the following code which fires OnCreatedUser and doesn't throw any errors. Profile.Title is getting set to the correct value when inspected after the assignment.

I'm using the following code to pick up the UserID of newly created users in a page containing a CreateUserWizard. Should work because it's at the end of the _CreatedUser event, but the UserName comes up Nothing. Anyone know what the problem might be? I know the user is being created because the "success" message is displayed and it writes to the database.

that part works fine. Now to commit the changes I use the above code to get the profilecommon for the user and then use oProfile.Save() to finish. This saves all the user data to my profile..doesn't matter which profile I use, it always gets saved to mine.
After a user has finished registration, i want to show an info message and redirect the user to the site's main page after 5 seconds. I can do a delayed redirect easily:

I am trying to handle add a custom field to a user profile using CreateUserWizard.
I added the field to web.config as

And added a ListBox to the template of CreateUserWizard. I wanted to add the information to the profile in the CreateUserWizard_UserCreated event. I can retrive values, but I can't figure out how to retrive the ProfileBase of the newly created user.
I have a windows application that stores a file on the current user's isolated storage, lets call this user Adam. On the same machine I have a Web service (The Web Service's application pool is running with Adam's credentials) that uses the same dll to access the file on the isolated storage but it is trying to access a file on the Default User's profile instead of the real user's profile (in this case Adams Profile)
Why is it trying to look for the file on the Default User's profile Instead of Adam's Profile? How can i make it look for the file in the right profile?. I'm running it on Win 2003, C# and .Net framework 3.5
How do i set the default profile when a user logs in. I have an application where the users (once they are authenticated) are in either the logged in, premium, or promotion profile. right now it assigns none. How do i make every user automatically be part of the promotion profile.

View 2 RepliesI'm using the CreateUserWizard and it's working great. I do have a "step2" that asks the newly created user their first name and last name. Seems simple enough, but I'm getting an error on the Profile.Save(): "This property cannot be set for anonymous users". I'm assuming this is due to the fact that I have DisableCreatedUser="true" for the CreateUserWizard, which is what I NEED to do. Does this mean that until we enable this user, they can't add these few columns? Since the site I am updating requires matching a newly registered user to an already existing "Artist" table, it's important that the administrators are given the first and last name of the user. The aspnet_User table doesn't have that, so I thought I'd give the profile a try.

i'm trying to figure out if its possible to skip a step in the create user wizard control that i've added. What i'd like to do is create a checkbox on the previous step and say "add a spouse" and if its checked goto the next step if its not checked goto the step after the "add a spouse" step. make sense?
View 7 RepliesI have the membership provider and the create user with tow steps, one of the steps contains a custom registration form, for each created user data will be in the database, and there is an account page shows the data that the new created user did insert during the registration process on the custom registration page,
the problem, when the user is created and logged into his account page, this account page shows only the information for the first created user, not the info on the logged in user , but the logged in user data still saved in database and not showing on his account page?

I've editing a create user wizard to add a 2nd step, this step will collect the users address. i can't get the second step to save into a table. I am using URL Routing to route user to his profile page, which is a child page. Now the problem is that all the images, javascripts references are distorted when i user the url to reach that page whether logged in or not logged in (both the cases). But after reaching this page when i login from this page thru my modal popup login control, all the references seem to work fine. It is to be noted that i am still in that same page which i reached after url routing. So upon logging from here the whole page works and displays fine.
How come the references are automatically adjusted when i am logging in from this page and are not referenced when i log in from other page and route here or when i am logged out?

I have a user control which, when pressing a command button, sets a property for the Profile (which has been marked as allowanonymous=true), then save it using Profile.Save().
Now, in IE this works fine - no problems at all. I then go to the page where the value is used - and it's there and can be used.
However, exactly the same routine when running in Safari or Firefox doesn't work - although when you're on the same page where the value is set it will immediately state that the value is ok, do a postback and it's gone!
Here's some very simple code to show the problem. Whilst IE will always dump 'plop true/false' to the screen (yes, I know - very juvenile!), FF and Safari will the first time, but on postback will just dump True to indicate it's a postback. (oh, and autosaveprofile is set to true in this example - otherwise there'd be a Profile.Save() below the set property).

I can't use Cookieless session states as the CMS I'm using won't allow it. I've also used Fiddler to try and track the issue, but no joy.
I'm guessing it's related to the way FF and SF handle cookies - but both are set to accept anything. Could it possibly be anything to do with the ASP.Net Development Server? (ie. the address is[URL]The fact that it never manages to save the value

I am using ASP.NET MVC 3. I am using what essentially came with for free in the Visual Studio project template for an MVC project with the "Internet Application" option. Basically this brings in Forms authentication and provides some basic elements to manage user login and stuff.
I am also using the web profiles stuff with this to store some custom fields. Everything was going great. I use SuperFunProfile as a wrapper around the Profile instance to make it easier to get at profile properties. Until I wanted to set a property of a Profile right away after signing the user up.The problem I can't solve is that this.Request.RequestContext.HttpContext.Profile contains the profile for the anonymous user. How can I get a new profile for the user now that he should be signed up and signed in?

I poked around Membership and Web.Profile, but I am not seeing anything that looks like it will get me closer to my goal.Maybe I should just create a ProfileModel that I store myself into the DB rather than using Web.Profile? I could key that on MembershipUser.ProviderUserKey which would make it easier to create a ProfileModel at sign up, I suppose.
I created a table named Thread to store logged-on users' comments. It has CommentId, Topic, Comment, CreatedTime and UserId columns. I made CommentId as the primary key and UserId as the foreign key to the UnserId in the Membership table aspnet_Users.But when I insert those data into table Thread, I get an error "Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'UserId', table 'ASPNETDB.dbo.Thread'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails.The statement has been terminated." I have tried different ways to resolve this, but could not make the UserId in the table Thread match the UserId in table aspnet_Users. Yesterday, I found the Table Profile Provider Samples created by Hao Kung at http://www.asp.net/downloads/sandbox/table-profile-provider-samples. It should be be able to solve my problem. But the code was written in C#. Is there anybody who knows a VB version of this code, or a better way to solve my problem?

Goal:
Two column Master Page
Left column contains a list of [stuff] (I'm trying a Repeater with LinkButtons)
Right column contains a TabContainer which will add dynamically created tabs when buttons on the left are clicked.
Left side looks like this:

I had initially been creating tabs in the LB's OnCommand event, but of course this means that any tab generated by one click is lost if the user clicks another LinkButton.
So I moved the code to create a new tab to the OnInit section of the page and attempted to loop through the RepeaterItems comparing the UniqueId of each LinkButton until I found the one that was clicked using Request.Form["__EVENTTARGET"].
When I tried to loop through the RepeaterItems, however, the count was always 0, and the Repeater would not populate.
So now I am rebinding the Repeater in the Init section on every post-back - this allows me to find the LinkButton that was clicked. I then add the new Tab based on the LB that was clicked like this:

but I still have the issue where I can only ever have one dynamically created tab in the TabContainer at a time.
