Pass A Variable To HTML Via Iframe?
Aug 23, 2010
I don't know if this is even possible, but here goes: I have an ASP.NET page that contains an IFrame that calls an HTML page. Is it possible to pass a variable from the ASP.NET page to the HTML within the IFrame? More specifically, I'd like for the ASP.NET page to fill in one of the fields on the form within the HTML page.

I have a problem to pass along public variables from C# code to the HTML code. I assign the variables in the Page_Load event and then pass along them to the Panel and Image control in the HTML code. Though I get this compileerror for the Width: "Cannot create an object of type "System.Web.UI.EbControls.Unit" from its string representation '<%setWidthImage%>' for the 'Width' property."

I have a function that gets the position of a control.
[Code]....
All the function needs is an htmlcontrol being fed to it as the parameter (elemRef). I can declare a variable in Javascript of the same content page but different function and pass the parameter successfullly getting returned values. For example, if I have the following function:
function (getPosition)
{ var txtBox1 = document.getElemendById('<%=txtBox1.ClientID %>');
getPos(txtBox1);
}
I will get the coordinates of the control txtBox1. But how can I accomplish this if I am calling this function from a javascript function or codebehind of the Master Page, or codebehind of the same content Page.

I am trying to write a simple application that will allow a user to pass a value from the parent page to a textbox in an IFrame.
Parent Page will only contain 3 controls (label, textbox, and a button). Once a user fills in the txtbox and then clicks the button I want the value that was put in the textbox to be sent to a textbox within an IFrame.
IFrame will contain a label, a textbox, and a button. Once the value is passed from the parent's textbox control to the iframe I want to also fire a button event in the iframe that will simply be:
[code]...
I am not worried about passing the value back to the parent page. My goal here is to create a testing application for my website. I want to automatically populate textbox's / radio buttons / date time pickers within an IFrame from a parent webpage. I am determining the stress on the server and testing the functional aspect of the iframe's website.

I think I need to drop in some escape characters, but I'm not quite sure where. Here is the javascript function I'm attempting to call:
function setData(associateValue, reviewDateValue) {
var associate = document.getElementById("Associate");
var reviewDate = document.getElementById("ReviewDate");
associate.value = associateValue;
reviewDate.value = reviewDateValue;
}
Here is the asp .net mvc line where I'm attempting to create a Radio button with a click event that calls the above function and passes data from the model as javascript parameter values.
<%= Html.RadioButton("Selected", item.Selected, new { onClick="setData('<%=item.Associate%>','<%=item.ReviewDate%>' )" } )%>
The above throws a bunch of compile issues and doesn't work. A call such as the following does call the javascript, but doesn't get the data from the model.
<%= Html.RadioButton("Selected", item.Selected, new { onClick="setData('item.Associate','item.ReviewDate' )" } )%>
<%= Html.RadioButton("Selected", item.Selected, new { onClick="setData('item.Associate','item.ReviewDate' )" } )%>
<% String functionCall = String.Format("setData('{0}','{1}')", Html.Encode(item.Associate), Html.Encode(item.ReviewDate )) ; %>
<%= Html.RadioButton("Selected", item.Selected, new { onClick=functionCall } )%>

In a C# codebehind, i am calling a web service that returns an HTML blob that i need to stick in an IFRAME. I suppose that i can write it to a temporary file and point the IFRAME src to that, but is there a way to either (a) write the string to the IFRAME directly, (b) point the IFRAME src to the string somehow (maybe with streams), or (c) some other way? I want to avoid writing this string to a file.

This is a general ASP.NET question. I have an asp.net site that is hosted on domain A. The site works fine and uses a session when user login. I have a new empty site on domain B (different server). I tried to load the same site on domain B by calling it in an HTML IFrame site load and works but it seems that user con not login, after some experiments I think his is related to the session not working. Can I run the site on an IFrame? Sessions should work?

I want to load part of a html-file (content.htm) in my project into an iframe in my main page (main.aspx).
Also, I want that content to take on the css, javascripts and filepath of the main page.Is this even possible?
It seems iframe is almost a separate browser, and no settings from the main page will affect it. CSS does not work, nor does the filepaths since the content.html is located in a subfolder.
What approach should I use instead of Iframe?

I have seen multiple posts and websites regarding this issue, yet none of the solutions / workarounds posted have worked for me. I am trying to load an ASP.NET report into an iFrame. The iFrame will load correctly (across all browsers), but when I run the report, Internet Explorer only will show the following error:
ASP.NET session has expired I have tried to use an HTML form to POST and target the iframe, as the workaround suggests here: [URL]I have also tried adding the following to the web.config file of the report application:
<sessionState
mode="InProc"
stateConnectionString="tcpip=127.0.0.1:42424"
sqlConnectionString="data source=127.0.0.1;Trusted_Connection=yes"
cookieless="false"
timeout="20"
/>
I have also tried to set my server to use InProc mode, and that still does nothing.

is not working.. as system see i (i's value) as a string, and will throw exception: cannot convert string to int.

I guess I'm missing something here, but I can't find a way to pass a simple variable from my code behind file to the .aspx page. In code behind I have:

Error 2 'test' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level
