I am following the tutorial to pass data to view master page using the "good solution" from this link
[URL] but after doing the changes as instructed, when i run the application. the application run the action result from homecontroller. Should i made change in homecontroller, i am missing something
How do you implement SquishIt to bundle Css/Js across View Pages and Render it in the Master page? I thought I could use a ContentPlaceHolder above the Render portion, but there seems to be some odd behavior where it sometimes adds 3 files (1 in the view page and 2 in the master page) but other times will ignore the file added from the View Page.

My current solution is a Static wrapper around SquishIt's static Bundle class that keeps the BundleBuilder in HttpContext.Current.Items.

i'm developing a site using VS2010 and with my windows vista busniness OS. i used the default VS2010 wizard for new web application to create it. included a folder in the root directory and created new aspx pages to derive from the master page in the root directory of my site. everything shows on the new pages except the jpeg image logo in the master page. But other aspx pages i created in the root directory shows every thing fine.

View 1 RepliesI have a create page which is strongly typed. And when i call this through the create action method[HTTPGET] i pass some data through ViewData.
For ex
I have Event model which has Event.ID and Event.Name and my ViewData["EventData"]=Event which i pass to create page.
Now in create view which is also strongly typed to model Product where Product has Product.Name,Product.Price,Product.EventID.
for user he can only enter values for Product.Name and Product.Price and submit.
Next Create action[HTTPPOST] takes control and does the saving process.
Here is the problem the model Product which Create action[HTTPPOST] receives has Product.EventID =null, but it should be set(Event.Id) to the value which i sent to create view as ViewData[EventData]. But i dont know how to do this.

View 4 RepliesI've got a LINQ to SQL object, and I want to group the selected data and then pass it into a view. What's the correct way of doing this? I'm sure I need to group the data when I select it rather than grouping it in the view, as this will result in about 200 rather 50000 rows I need to pass into my view. View 1 RepliesI have setup an httppost that sends a string into my controller, searches for some results using linq, and then sends the results to a view. In debug stepping through the code I can see the data that I am looking for being passed into the return view statement, but the page just appears to refresh (it doesn't render the view as expected with the result). why my controller fails to redender the view? (note: I didn't include the view because I can send a ToList() to it without an issue. For example, return View(_entities.Persons.ToList());

I have a dictionary I'm passing to a View. I want to be able to pass the values of that dictionary back to a Controller action from this same View. Is there anyway this can be accomplished without using a form? The situation is that I need to be able to pass these back to a controller action that is called when a user clicks an ActionLink from the View, and in my experience an ActionLink cannot be used to submit a values of a form, i.e. I've only been able to submit values of a form using the form's submit button. Unless there's a way to use an ActionLink to submit values in a form.Controller Action passes Dictionary to Controller in ViewData:

Top Level Master page
Second Level Master page inherited Top Level Master page
Third Level Master page inherited Second Level Master page
However, changes (i.e. new images & alt. name) that I made in the Top level master page did not apply to the second or third levels.My webpage has a correct front page but not in the sections. How can i correct this ?

View 4 RepliesI have following situation - I am pasing user info object from Controller to View. It contains GUID UserID, which i dont want to be seen on page. So I removed every Html.LabelFor(model => model.UserID), Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.UserID) etc... from generated View source. And because of this when Html.BeginForm() returns that object back to Controller all values is there but UserID is lost??
If I leave Html.LabelFor(model => model.UserID), Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.UserID) etc.. in View everything is fine. But I dont want to show UserID? Where is the problem here?

I am trying to pass a view model of mine, which has multiple list in it, to my view. Then in my view i need to edit the different list. Then on my post i need to save the edits. Although, when i pass my viewmodel back to my post, it is empty! Can somebody explain what i am doing wrong? Controller

I'm trying to build a Create view in which some fields for the model have been set in the controller and are non-editable. Take for example a post in these forums where the subforum in which you post depends on which forum you're in currently.
I tried to do this by passing an id parameter to the Create action like this:

But somehow the subforum property gets "lost" along the way, but the submitted prop. stays there. I should note here that the subforum property is an entity key.
So in other words: how can I set a few properties before returning the view, and keep these read-only until postback??

I'm using a grid view to display a number of records from a database.
Each row has an Edit Button. When the button is clicked I want an ID to be passed back to a funtion in my .cs file. How do I bind the rowID to the Button field?
I've tired using a hyper link instead but this doens't seem to work because I'm posting back to the same page which already has a Permanter on the URL.
