If I set some chars to the Value-property of the control like this:
m_txtPassword1.Value="someChars";
The password box is rendered empty. No bullets are shown. If I look into the rendered html-source, also no value-tag has been rendered. If I change the type to
the chars are shown. Is this by design? How can I disable this feature? I don't want to put a real password into the value-property, I only want to show the user that there is already a password set, and this is IMO done best with some 8 bullets in the input-control. But for this, I need the possibility to set the value-property of the control.
Update
For all, having the same problem: I have tried to declare <asp:textbox id="m_txtPassword1" runat="server" TextMode="Password" /> with the same result. Also m_txtPassword1.Attributes["value"]="someChars" has not helped.
As a workaround, I declared the password-boxes as plain html without the runat="server" and have set the value-property in markup (via two properties from the code-behind). Not nice but I really want to show the user that he has already entered a password.Another workaround would be to set the value through javascript on load.
I'm in a little bit of a bind and have some weird behavior happening with a multiview control behaving differently between two machines, and of course, the production machine is the broken one. The page renders the correct content on both machines, but if I save the html file the production machine's source is wrong.
For example, if for step 1 the output should be just the letter A, and step 2 the output should be just the letter B, and step 3 the output should be the letter C, here is what happens:
Step 1:
Production - The source and output are both the letter A
Dev - the source and output are both the letter A
Step 2:
Production - the source is the letter A and the ouput on the browser is the letter B
Dev - the source and output on the browser are both the letter B
Step 3:
Production - the source is the letter A and the ouput on the browser is the letter C
Dev - the source and output on the browser are both the letter C
Is this some issue with SessionState? I'm very new to Multiviews and by no means an ASP expert.
I have two aspx pages that both use the same master page. Master page is more or less the default from VWD 2010 web application (Site.Master).
So both page A and B have the same:
[Code]....
The difference when shown in web browsers is (tested on Chrome and Firefox) that PageB looks like it has one more blank row/space on top of the page. How is this possible?
i have a div that contains three other controls now i want to show hide that div when show or hide button is pressed. i also don't want page to postback when button is clicked. i am using following code but its not working.
I've an ASP.NET application hosted inside a local area network. The application host machine has access to the internet while the local area network clients do not.
There is one requirement where I've to show a web page with rich content (images) in an IFrame from internet (public network) address.
However since internet access is not available on the client, this somehow has to be done from server and then needs to be served to client.
SO I download jqcalendar to include in my application as a starting point for a calendar (it is basically like Google calendar using JQuery/ASP.NET). I notice however when I click on a menu item on the master page, it shows up behind the content on the content page, as you can see here looking at the Maintenance menu:
I figure it has something to do with how the JQuery is rendering the page, but honestly not sure how to fix it. Here is the Jquery and HTML for the page:
I was using the code below to query the database and to show or hide content if the result was true of false. I use two panels so I can dispaly the right content block depending on EVAL
I have a content page with a grid view control in it. In the page preinit event of this page, i am trying to add a column to the grid view. But the value of the grid view shows up as null. Is there something i am missing or how do we add properties to the grid view in the page pre init of the content page.
I have a 20 PopupControlExtenders for 18 columns in a GridView. Every popup is has different content: HtmlSelect, HtmlAnchor, HtmlButton CheckBox etc. etc. -depending on the cell it is clicked on.
I'm using combination of DynamicContextKey, DynamicControlID and DynamicServiceMethod to populate these popups.
The problem is, when the grid is first loaded, all popups in all columns populate correctly. Problem arises when I flip a page in the gird. On the new page, the popup comes up, but there is no content. And NO error (like 500 or something). Now when I go back to the first page, no popup shows content here either. What am I doing wrong? Here is a sample ItemTemplate:
I have a masterpage with a content area. When viewing a page in the designer the content area is so narrow it blows the page formatting to pieces. When viewed in a browser it looks fine, just looks bad in the designer.
I've seen other projects on other computers that don't have this problem ... is there a setting for this?
I am working at a site not orginally devleoped by me. The problem is that all the pages are working fine and have no problem at my local site. but the site is not showing any content at live site from database. Niether it shows an error for it. How can I find the problem?
When a user that has their IE set to save passwords hits my "Reset Password" form, the first text box set with TextMode set to "Password" is populated with the users saved password. Understandable, this is not the affect I would like as this is their "old" password. I cannot set the text of a text box with mode set to "Password" (naturally). Does someone know how to suppress or clear this value when IE is saving passwords?
Does anyone has a solution (sample code) for the following features:
Create a randomGuid/Cryptographically strong random number Send a unique URL containing the random number to the user's email address When confirmed, the user is asked to change password
My provider is currently parametrized this way:

The security issues with this type of procedure have been discussed here before.
I am using Forms Authentication in a new ASP.NET 3.5 Application.I have created the Tables in my database and run the Web Site Administration Too.When I try to create a user I get a password error no matter what I throw at it and I am becoming sure of that this is a symptom of an a setup error and not a password problem. One of the things that I notice is that my aspnet_Applications is empty and I am not sure what is supposed to fill it.I have tried to delete all the aspnet tables and done the procedure again but with the same result.
My company has some unique password policies (such as a pwd cannot be re-used for 6 months, aside from the must include #, special character, upper & lower case)Can anyone suggest how to go about ensuring that a new user's password complies with these policies (using forms authentication in .net 3.5 framework)?
