Prevent Bubbling Without Jquery?

Mar 17, 2010

When I move mouse over the container panel, the child panel is displayed but as soon as i move mouse over the child panel, the mouseout event is triggered and panel get hidden.

This is simplified version of my code because panels are located inside gridview and therefore i can't use document.getElementById("panelchild") as it is (the js will get the specific id latter), but for now i want to make it work for this simple case.

This is the partial script:

<script type="text/javascript">
function ShowPanel(e) {
// e = e || window.event;
// var evtSrc = e.target || e.srcElement;

Custom Server Controls :: Event Not Bubbling For Dynamically Created WebControl From The Db?

Apr 6, 2010

For test purposes I have created a simple button control that extends CompositeControl. I am able to place it on the page with a <asp:Content... and the Click event Bubbles without problem from the Control.

Now, here is the problem I am facing Due to design requirement I need to read the assembly and the classname from a table and dynamically create the control and add it to the <asp:Content. And when I do that the click event will not fire! Where am I going wrong.

Here is the code in the ButtonControl.cs

[DefaultProperty("Text")]
[ToolboxData("<{0}:ButtonControl runat=server></{0}:ButtonControl>")]

C# - Prevent Postback After Opening JQuery Dialog Box?

Dec 8, 2010

Page:

[code]....

This code opens me a dialog box with Ok and Cancel button but it do not wait for user activity and post the page immediately and the label gets populated. I need to call the c# function based on user activity. If user clicks "Ok" label should get populated and if user clicks "Cancel" it should not call the c# function. How do I achieve this?

How To Prevent AutoPostBack When DropDownlist Is Selected Using JQuery

Jul 21, 2010

I want to show a confirm dialog when the user selects an item in a DropDownList. If the user presses "Cancel", I want to stop the postback. Here is the function I add to the onchange event:

function imitateConfirmUnload(event) {
if (window.onbeforeunload = null)
return true;

return confirm("Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page?

You have unsaved changes

Press OK to continue or Cancel to stay on the current page.");
}

And this is the relevant bit of code in my startup script to add the handler to the event:

[code]...

The problem is that the postback occurs even if the user selects "Cancel". If I move the handler on to the click event, it works. But it feels clunky to me.

Edit

Correction: it doesn't work onclick, because the dialog prevents selection, so when the user selects OK, no change has taken place, and no postback when you want it!

Edit 2

The DropDownList is inside an UpdatePanel so that may affect behavior.

Why Event Bubbling And Why Not Directly Subscribe The Click Event

Jul 2, 2010

I was going through an article on event bubbling in asp.net and came to know that although it is possible to subscribe to the click event of a user control's button from the containing page, "doing so would break some of the object oriented rules of encapsulation". A better idea is to publish an event in the user control to allow any interested parties to handle the event.

My question is that exactly how does a direct subscription to the button's click event from a containing page would break the object oriented rules of encapsulation?

JQuery UI Modal Confirmation Dialog At C# / How To Prevent Trigger OnClick Event

Jan 20, 2010

I am trying to use confirmation dialog from jQuery UI.

I ran into this problem: how to trigger correctly the dialog and at the same time prevent trigger OnClick event specified at button until user click on Yes or No buttons at dialog?

In the example below are two ways how to popup confirmation. Lower one works well. It's a classic JavaScript confirm dialog. When I try to use the jQuery UI dialog, it displays a dialog but allows it to run the event assigned at OnClick (here by using Command, but I suppose there is no difference. Hope I am not wrong.). The piece is taken from the ASP.NET Repeater control btw.

Prevent XNA From Working In IIS?

Feb 24, 2011

I'm working on a asp.net application that contains image which is very processing heavy to generate, but at the same time can't be pre-generated since it requires a lot of parameters and data from SQL Server. I decide to use XNA and process the image on GPU and from a few minutes processing on CPU with GDI+ I mange to get the time down to 1 sec using shaders.Visual Web Developer was really nice to not give me any troubles when developing the site but once I tried to put it on IIS the nightmare started. After 2 days fighting with it I finally have XNA assembly loaded correctly but GraphicsAdapter.Adapters returns empty array. What prevents XNA from working in IIS?

I tried my site on the same machine with IIS 7.5 express and it works just fine, but the express server is for local use only. On the same machine the website also works directly from Visual Web Developer.The way I understand it IIS just don't have access to the graphics adapters which is really sad not being able to use GPU for parallel processing.

How To Prevent The Entry Of Two Characters Together

Feb 16, 2010

I want to prevent the entry of two characters together but I want the user to be able to enter one or the other as well as use the enter key. I would like to use a white list instead of black listing characters. The regular expression also needs to support a min and max length. I'm doing client side validation using the asp:regularexpression control. I do not want to have to do server side validation unless that's the only solution to this problem. Has anyone else run into this?

Here is the regex I'm currently using:

(?!.(&#))^[a-zA-Z0-9!@#$%^&_=+~''"";:,
.()?-]{1,1000}$

I'm using a asp.net textbox that is set to multiline so I have to allow for
and or what's the point of using a multiline textbox :)

I want to keep the user from entering &# together but allow them to enter text with & or # in it and allow all of the characters a-zA-Z0-9!@#$%^&*_=+~''"";:,
.()?-.

A valid text entry would be as follows:

I have a question about my order. The order number is 12345.

An invalid text entry would be as follows:

I am trying to keep the user from entering &# in the textbox, but I want to allow them to enter & or #.

How To Prevent IIS From Compiling Website

Mar 1, 2010

I have an ASP .NET web application which on the backend is talking to an ASMX web service. We have counted and the average wait time for the initial request is 20s. I am wondering if there is a way I can send the web service up to the server precompiled, thus negating the need for compilation.We have also noticed that IIS tends to recycle its worker threads and this also causes a compilation. The process itself is not accessed terribly often, but it needs to be much quicker when it is

Prevent GET Request Timeout?

Jan 19, 2010

I've got an ASP.NET application that serves MP3 content, but that content is generated during the request and can delay the sending of the response's first byte by several minutes.

The client is a podcatcher (I don't know which), and the lowest timeout I've seen is 20 seconds. That is, these clients are (reasonably enough) giving up relatively quickly, assuming there's no response coming.

How can I keep these clients from giving up? How can I let them know a response is coming?

Is there a setting of some sort that I can set if/when they do press F5 to tell the page - don't submit again?
