View 1 RepliesI am running an ASP.NET application on an IIS7 server. It has been running fine for a long time, but over the past week or so it has been discarding all users' sessions several times a day. I enabled all of the application pool recycle logging options as described in http://blogs.iis.net/ganekar/archive/2008/12/12/iis-7-0-application-pool-recycles-log-a-event-in-windows-event-log.aspx, but I didn't get anything in my event log.
There are no errors in the event log, and no visible symptoms except that all my users lose their sessions.
Are there any other reasons that IIS would recycle my application pool? Is there any other type of logging that I can enable to find out what is happening?
I have noticed how editing the web.config file in an application folder causes that application pool to recycle and pick up the changes.
How does IIS achieve this and is it possible to extend this functionality for another config file? Or is this dependency hard-coded somewhere? This is related to the possiblity of deploying configuration changes to a web server without having to edit the web.config, which is usually maintained by a different team.
Note that I don't want to manually invoke this recycle event, but have it work in the same way as with web.config. I'm aware that I could simply add these settings to web.config, but that's not what I've been asked to do.
I am a developer who up until now only used WAP assemblies. Is that old and outdated nowadays? For example I have found a really great sample of google map API I'l like to use but my project is in VB.NET and the sample is using code in App_Code folder in C# so I cannot mix and integrate in a easy way. Do I have to convert the C# code into VB.Net to make it work or is there a shortcut when finding sample code in App_Code folder in the wrong code language?
View 1 Replieswe're hosting a webservice that runs with up to 9 worker processes in it's application pool. There's a memory limit configured for the application pool to keep the system/server performant. Now my concern is that, if the memory limit is reached, a worker process may be recycled although there is an active request handled by this worker process that needs to be responded/finished first. The problem is especially with purchase/order requests, as such requests typically run several minutes and must not be aborted by any worker process recycle process. Is there any configuration setting that allows me app pool recycling by granting that no active process will be abandoned?
View 1 RepliesFirst, my code:
Code:
<asp:Table>
<asp:TableRow>
<asp:TableCell>Name:</asp:TableCell>
<asp:TableCell><asp:Label>John Doe</asp:Label></asp:TableCell>
</asp:TableRow>
</asp:Table>
I want to change the Label Control to a Textbox Control once I've triggered a Button.Click event. So my output will be:
Code:
<asp:Table>
<asp:TableRow>
<asp:TableCell>Name:</asp:TableCell>
<asp:TableCell><asp:TextBox>John Doe</asp:TextBox></asp:TableCell>
</asp:TableRow>
</asp:Table>
The label part is for display the information from the database. I'm using a button as a trigger to edit that label by changing it to a textbox and I'll be using another button as a trigger to save the changes made in the textbox and then changing it back to a label.
i have two clock times in my DB as varchar datatype.. i loaded it from db as varchar itself. in C# i have assigned this value to a datetime variable.. how can i get the time from the datetime variable without changing it into a string.

But, If my website move to dev server, QA server, Prod server, I need to change the path here. Can we do any other way instaed of whole path. Like example for css file, we just name of <link href="filen.css">.
I tried to replace the path with "/Schema.xsd" but getting exception file not found. I tried eith ~ root symbol also. No use.
I also can do by keeping the value in webconfig. Even though, i need to change it every time.
I want to change color of each row in a listview based on a data which is stored in database.
I've written following code but I don't know by the help of which object I can access to markup property of listview :
protected void ListView1_ItemDataBound(object sender, ListViewItemEventArgs e)
{
if(e.Item.ItemType == ListViewItemType.DataItem)
{
ListViewDataItem dataitem = (ListViewDataItem)e.Item;
int policyid = (int)DataBinder.Eval(dataitem.DataItem, "policyID");
if(policyid == 3)
//what should I write here to change the corresponding row's color?
}
}
i have 5 textbox in the webpage how to change the color to green and the word to open from 8 am gmt to 5pm gmt else the textbox will be red and the word will be closed
TextBox18.Text ( open 10:00 pm and close 7:00 am )(GMT)
TextBox19.Text ( open midnight and close 10:00 am )(GMT)
TextBox20.Text ( open 8:00 am and close 5:00 pm)(GMT)
TextBox21.Text ( open 7:00 am and close 4:00 pm )(GMT)
TextBox22.Text ( open 1:00 pm and close 11:00 pm )(GMT)

I have installed Visual Studio 2010.
I converted my 2008 Web Projects to 2010 Projects, so the database project also converted to 2010 and changed the project file extentions.
Even though i didn't change anything in database project, each time when i open the project in Visual Studio the .dbmdl file is changing, i can't see what is changing in side it, i have to commit this change each time into Source Control.
The following code is my Grid View AA from aspx page.
<asp:GridView ID="GridView_AA" runat="server" OnSorting = "Gridview_AA_Sorting" OnRowCreated="GridView_AA_RowCreated">
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Period Name" SortExpression="PERIOD_NAME">
[code]...
I cannot sort after adding GridView_AA_RowCreated function. Each column of Grid view header-text worked well before I add this Row Created function. If I cut the following code: e.Row.Cells[2].Text = "Period Name";
Sorting works. I want to get sorting without removing this Row Created function. Do you have any brighter solution about my problem?
protected void GridView_AA_RowCreated(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
{
if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.Header)
{
e.Row.Cells[2].Text = "Period Name"; //Change header text in run-time
}
}
If I enter the a location of: Latitude = 28 Degrees, 45 Minutes, 12 Seconds Longitude = 81 Degrees, 39 Minutes, 32.4 Seconds. It gets converted into Decimal Degrees format to be stored in the database with the following code:
Coordinates coordinates = new Coordinates();
coordinates.LatitudeDirection = this.radLatNorth.Checked ? Coordinates.Direction.North : Coordinates.Direction.South;
coordinates.LatitudeDegree = this.ConvertDouble(this.txtLatDegree.Text);
coordinates.LatitudeMinute = this.ConvertDouble(this.txtLatMinute.Text);
coordinates.LatitudeSecond = this.ConvertDouble(this.txtLatSecond.Text);
coordinates.LongitudeDirection = radLongEast.Checked ? Coordinates.Direction.East : Coordinates.Direction.West;
coordinates.LongitudeDegree = this.ConvertDouble(this.txtLongDegree.Text);
coordinates.LongitudeMinute = this.ConvertDouble(this.txtLongMinute.Text);
coordinates.LongitudeSecond = this.ConvertDouble(this.txtLongSecond.Text);
//gets the calulated fields of Lat and Long
coordinates.ConvertDegreesMinutesSeconds();
In the above code, ConvertDouble is defined as:
private double ConvertDouble(string value)
{
double newValue = 0;
double.TryParse(value, out newValue);
return newValue;
}
and ConvertDegreesMinutesSeconds is defined as:
public void ConvertDegreesMinutesSeconds()
{
this.Latitude = this.LatitudeDegree + (this.LatitudeMinute / 60) + (this.LatitudeSecond / 3600);
this.Longitude = this.LongitudeDegree + (this.LongitudeMinute / 60) + (this.LongitudeSecond / 3600);
//adds the negative sign
if (LatitudeDirection == Direction.South)
{
this.Latitude = 0 - this.Latitude;
}
else if (LongitudeDirection == Direction.West)
{
this.Longitude = 0 - this.Longitude;
}
}
If I don't make any change to the latitude or longitude and I click Apply Changes which basically does the above calucation again, it generates a different latitude and longitude in the database. This happens every time I go to edit it and don't make a change (I just click Apply Changes and it does the calculation again with a different result). In the above scenario, the new Latitude and Longitude is: Latitude = 28 Degrees, 45 Minutes, 12 Seconds Longitude = 81 Degrees, 40 Minutes, 32.4 Seconds If I do it again, it becomes:
Latitude = 28 Degrees, 45 Minutes, 12 Seconds Longitude = 81 Degrees, 41 Minutes, 32.4 Seconds The other part of this is that when I go into edit, it takes the decimal degrees format of the latitude and longitude and converts it to the degrees minutes seconds format and puts them into their respective textboxes. The code for that is:
public void SetFields()
{
Coordinates coordinateLocation = new Coordinates();
coordinateLocation.Latitude = this.Latitude;
coordinateLocation.Longitude = this.Longitude;
coordinateLocation.ConvertDecimal();
this.radLatNorth.Checked =
coordinateLocation.LatitudeDirection == Coordinates.Direction.North;
this.radLatSouth.Checked = !this.radLatNorth.Checked;
this.txtLatDegree.Text = coordinateLocation.LatitudeDegree.ToString().Replace("-", string.Empty);
this.txtLatMinute.Text = Math.Round(coordinateLocation.LatitudeMinute, 0).ToString().Replace("-", string.Empty);
this.txtLatSecond.Text = Math.Round(coordinateLocation.LatitudeSecond, 2).ToString().Replace("-", string.Empty);
this.radLongEast.Checked =
coordinateLocation.LongitudeDirection == Coordinates.Direction.East;
this.radLongWest.Checked = !this.radLongEast.Checked;
this.txtLongDegree.Text = coordinateLocation.LongitudeDegree.ToString().Replace("-", string.Empty); ;
this.txtLongMinute.Text = Math.Round(coordinateLocation.LongitudeMinute, 0).ToString().Replace("-", string.Empty);
this.txtLongSecond.Text = Math.Round(coordinateLocation.LongitudeSecond, 2).ToString().Replace("-", string.Empty);
}
From the above examples, you can see that the Minute kept increasing by 1, which would indicate why it is generating a different latitude and longitude in decimal degrees in the database, so I guess the problem is more in the above area, but I am not sure where or why it is doing it?
public void ConvertDecimal()
{
this.LatitudeDirection = this.Latitude > 0 ? Direction.North : Direction.South;
this.LatitudeDegree = (int)Math.Truncate(this.Latitude);
if (LatitudeDirection == Direction.South)
{
this.LatitudeDegree = 0 - this.LatitudeDegree;
}
this.LatitudeMinute = (this.Latitude - Math.Truncate(this.Latitude)) * 60;
this.LatitudeSecond = (this.LatitudeMinute - Math.Truncate(this.LatitudeMinute)) * 60;
this.LongitudeDirection = this.Longitude > 0 ? Direction.East : Direction.West;
this.LongitudeDegree = (int)Math.Truncate(this.Longitude);
if (LongitudeDirection == Direction.West)
{
this.LongitudeDegree = 0 - this.LongitudeDegree;
}
this.LongitudeMinute = (this.Longitude - Math.Truncate(this.Longitude)) * 60;
this.LongitudeSecond = (this.LongitudeMinute - Math.Truncate(this.LongitudeMinute)) * 60;
}

View 2 RepliesI'm using Telerik's RadScheduler Control with WebService Binding.
I've used RadScheduler with Server Side Binding which has an event called "OnTimeSlotCreated" which fires every time when a particular time slot creates so that i can access the time slot and get the control (HtmlTableCell Control) to modify it according to the requirement.
But now i'm binding it from client side through WebService which has no such "onClientTimeSlotCreated" event, also these time slots are not having any identity at client side to access.
how to suppress the "AM" in the gridview (template Bind("RideTimeMin", "{0:t}")? Don't tell me to use military time because the function is not "time on a clock"; it's how much time is allowed for a task (in this case the min/max hours & minutes that horses have to complete a 20 mile trail; e.g. 05:00, 05:27, etc). I'm currently accomplishing this in the "ondatabound" function by "..RTmin.Replace("AM","")". I have looked and looked at all the websites that talk about datetime formatting but have yet to find a way to do it upfront in the gridview bind statement.

View 2 RepliesI need to do to the following:
Find if the current time falls within hourly ranges and display the start hour and end hour of that range in labels.
Examples:
If the current time is 8:46am, label startTime would return "8am" and label endTime would return "9am"
If the current time is 10:01pm, label startTime returns "10pm" and label endTime returns "11pm"
If the current time is 12:59am, label startTime returns "12am" and label endTime returns "1am"
I have been working with the C# TimeRange class but not getting what I need.
select distinct tbl.emp_code, b.EmplName, convert(varchar, tbl.punched_date,101) as Punched_date,
(select convert(varchar(8),itbl.PUNCHED_TIME, 114)+', '
from Trn_Capture_Data_New itbl
where itbl.EMP_CODE=tbl.emp_code and itbl.PUNCHED_DATE=tbl.punched_date and itbl.EMP_CODE='4'
and tbl.punched_date >= '03/27/2013' and tbl.punched_date <= '03/28/2013'
for xml path('')) Punched_Time
[Code] ....
I have the above query and that gives me result
Emp_code EmplName Punched_date Punched_Time
4 XXX 3/27/2013 14:22:00, 09:44:00, 10:38:00, 11:01:00, 16:12:00, 18:25:00,
4 XXX 3/28/2013 13:14:00, 09:49:00, 18:02:00,
Now i need to Bind it to gridview, the gridview columns should be
Date,IN,OUT,IN,OUT
In punched time the first one should be IN and second OUT. A employee would have punched several time a day. Based on that I should take maximum punches and bring that of columns as IN and OUT in gridvew dynamically. How to achieve this?
in my application i need to generate/open a popup window automatically at some interval of time, when the user is working at some page in the application, like a alert message
the popup window contains some information which should take from the database,
and the information should be updated automatically when the popup window opens,
i am developing my application with c#.
I have a date/time stored in a smalldatetime field (ms sql 2005) that i want to compare with the current time and receive a difference. If the difference is less than 30 minutes, do this....if more do that....
