I know this is probably a pretty easy thing to do and it is if I can upload the file and store it onto the hard drive of the server. What I need to do is read the text file into memory and then parse through it one line at a time. Anyone have any code that demonstrates that?

I have 2 drop downlists 1 gets the User hits my sql database and pulls back all my users in the database. I have post back on. The second drop down brings back all the account numbers for the user that is selected in the first drop downlist I have that post back on also.
My gridview then uses those 2 dropdownlists to populate for that user and that account number selected.
Now for the problem.
User Albert is in the drop down when page is loaded because its sorts by name the first account number for albert is in the 2nd drop down and the gridview works on page load for albert and account number 1 i can select account number 2 and the gridview changes.
I then switch user to Bill and it populates the 2nd drop down with Bill's account numbers however my gridview at this point is still showing alberts account information. I have to take drop down 2 and select another account say account 2 then my gridview displays bill's account 2 information i can then switch back to account 1 for bill and see that account information.
What do I need to do so that my gridview will populate when the first dropdown is changed to match the 2 new values?
Here is my code

Ive been strugglng with this one problem for a while now. I have an application as: SelectCommand="SELECT [CategoryID], [Name], [UserId] FROM [Categories] WHERE ([UserId] = @UserId) ORDER BY [Name]">
<SelectParameters>
<asp:QueryStringParameter Name="CategoryID" QueryStringField="ID" />
</SelectParameters> [code]....
the dropdown list control will populate values from the database but when i live those 2, it won't populate any value from the database. When i remove only the
<asp:QueryStringParameter Name="CategoryID" QueryStringField="ID" />
</SelectParameters>
and live ([UserId] = @UserId), i get the error : Must declare the scalar variable "@UserId".

I normally have a function to populate my dropdown list with the database values.
How can I populate a dropdown list so the values are stored in the web config?
The only problem is that the list would need to store two values, the text value of the combo, and the data value.

I'm currently working on a project and I want to make as much things as possible performing on client side - with as little loading as possible. The project consist of three "main" pages. On one page I use jQuery DataTable plugin which is working great. One page has tabs (using jQuery). I want to put datacontrol (repeater) on this site and when user selects one item in dropdown, data in repeater loads on client side, without performing the action on server.

Using a gridView to read some data from a SQL database. The user can select a record in the gridview. On the SelectedIndexChanged property I populate this to a couple of text boxes & drop down list; txtCountry,ddlProvince,ddlCity.
I have special characters in France ( accent marks) and when I populate it to the drop down list it fails giving out the error message "SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items".
Example of items that I try to populate are as follows. ( separated by commas) ÃŽLE-DE-FRANCE , PROVENCE-ALPES-CÔTE D'AZUR , RHÔNE-ALPES, DRÔME,ISÈRE ........ When I looked in the drop down lists for Province and Cities I see those Provinces there in the item list. When I debug line by line the word ÃŽLE-DE-FRANCE comes out like ÎLE-DE-FRANCE which is not there in the drop down list. Got to know the ÃŽ is typed by pressing down ALT+206 and lloks like this is what is coming in at the start of the string above.

I am using a dataset control and I have 5 dropdown lists in which their content depends on what item is selected in each dropdown list.
I know I can populate the lists with 5 different queries taking the variables from each list but I am thinking there must be a better way.
Is there a way to populate each list with one query that takes the distinct items from each column returned without looping through the entire recordset?

I wanted to find out if there is a way of getting a parameter or variable value out of an XSL file. For example, if I have the following:
<xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="1.0">
<xsl:variable name="username" select ="usertest"/>
<xsl:variable name="password" select ="pass"/>
<!-- ... -->
</xsl:stylesheet>
I would like to read the username and password values from the XSL and use them for authentication. I am using ASP.Net and C# to perform the actual transform on an XML file.
share code with me that would allow me to read the XSL variables from ASP.NET/C#.

I would like to make some changes to my EF4 edmx file without modifying the file itself, mainly so I don't loose all my changes if I regenerate the model from the database. I'm familiar with XSL and have seen references made to using it in conjunction with the edmx file. This sounds like a great solution, however I can't seem to find any documentation on how to actually set this up. Do you reference the style sheet from the edmx file or do you configure it to look at the template and then load the edmx file in somehow?
Clarification:
Specifically what I'm trying to do is modify the model so that several of the views act as tables with relations within the model, see here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/alexj/archive/2009/09/01/tip-34-how-to-work-with-updatable-views.aspx
The issue I'll have in using that method is if I need to update the database and regenerate the model I'll have to go back and make all of those changes again, I was hoping there was a way to use xslt to make those changes to the views so they would not be removed when the model is regenerated.
