I have user controls those will be loaded during OnInit() to update panel.
on timer tick I would like to get new data adn remove those already added dynamic contorls and relaod them wiht new data.
even though I am updating the update panel place holder with new data, on the screen the old data will be shown.
I am refreshing my gridview every 10 sec using update panel and Timer control.
In timer control i have:

Now i have a checkbox column in the gridview, and select all checkbox also, for functionality of checkboxes i am using javascript like what is explained by this article: [URL] ....
I like this way its simple and fast. but now when gridview refreshes the checkbox selection and others styles disappears.
Now what can i do to keep my selection as it is on gridview refresh. Do i have to stop the gridview refresh on checkbox selection?
I've a tab container with 4-5 tabs on a page. On the same page, I've three update panels - one outside tab container whilst the other two lie inside two tab panels separately. Update mode of all three update panels are set to Conditional. There is a timer in the first update panel (the one outside tab container). Whenever timer ticks, the other two update panels are also being refreshed. How can I stop this?

VS2010 ( Vb.net ).I have a masterpage that contains a gridview, giving stats and information on client files sent to us. This gridview is updated by means of a timer control every 10 seconds. In my grid I have an image field, to display either a tick .. if everything is ok or a cross for any problems.When the timer control timer event forces a gridview databind every 10 seconds.When the page first loads, i get the default red Cross in the gridview imagefield, however when the timer loops forces a 'databind' I lose the redCross and it is replaced with the default image control ( as if no url is set ) . Then I get a server 404 error.I am using the OnDataBound event to fire my vb sub. I have commented out evertything just to get a solid starting point but im still getting errors.

I don't think I understand fully how ASP.NET does inheritance of controls.I have a user control, ucBase, which has an asp.net label in the ascx file. Code behind references the label and it works fine during run time if the control is not a parent for another user parent.
If I have another user control, ucChild, inheriting from ucBase, the label in ucBase's code is always null. ucChild has no controls in its ascx fileThe server controls (like the label) needs to be declared in the ascx file and not created programmatically.What needs to be done for ucBase to see its own controls when it's a parent user control?

It may not be a direct link with DD, but I would like to know whether there is a way to stop the timer while the users are in Edit mode.
After the user enters some data in the Grid and if the timer ticks before updating the data, all information is gone.

I added a textBox and a label to WC1 in vs design view not code behind. But all the server controls that i put in WC1 are null and give null pointer exception.I tried to access textBox and label in different events but the all of them are null.
Steps to reproduce the error:
create a web user control called WC1 by add a new item in VS added a textBox and label server control to WC1 in design view of VS and put code behind: var value = txetBox.Text; created another web user control called WC2 by add a new item in VS and change its base class to WC1 in its code behind create a web page by adding a new item in vs and drag WC2 to the design view of the page run the page then you will see the exception for the codebehind in WC1

I noticed a behaviour in Visual Studio that the design tab for aspx page does not work if I use a dynamic master page using a base page. I dynamically set the master page to implement theming. It shows a master page error and says "The page has controls that require a Master Page reference, but none is specified".
Is there any solution? Or any work around?
I currently set the base/master page to a default master page in the page for myself and work on the page. Once I complete the page, I remove the master page attribute. I wanted to know if some better method is available.
I have a page with lots of panels on it. Some of the panels are user controls and some are just on the page. I have a form on the page where you can add users and a gridview which is a user control showing a list of users.When a new user is added on the form I want to do gridview.databind() for the gridview in the user control. Does anyone know how to do this?

I'm searching for an example with an client timer that ticks synchronous with an server timer. Also there must be a button on the client side which can reset the server timer to an default value, and with this it also resets the client timer ofcourse. I tried it myself but it seems that there is some postback delay which makes it impossible for me to make it atleast look like it goes synchronous.
I hope somebody got an example for me, the button part is really important because by pressing that button the delay comes.

override methods/events.Like automatically visual studio will put base.OnInit() if you are overriding OnInit.

I have an asp.net project, and I load a base aspx page to display to the user. Then I ajax in the results of an ascx component and inject it via innerHTML in javascript. I have noticed that the ascx component loads slowly on the first page load, but instantly thereafter. This is really cool, but I do not understand how this can be cached, as the contents are generated by making several db calls. Does the server send some kind of hash to compare the contents to, to see if it changed on the server or not? Is this a browser thing or an asp.net thing?

Im trying to make a web chat using ajax control tool kit. There is a script mannager, the update panel and the timer. I inserted the textbox for showing every text that is introduced by the users, the text for writing and the send button are out. It works great but if im writing some text in the exact moment of refreshing time (winch happends a lot because its every 3 sec) it does not let me write correctly cause the textbox kind of blink and you miss a letter. So, wich is the correct method for doing this without lossing the fluidity of the writing.
View 1 RepliesI have a user control (uc1) which inherits from uc2. uc2 has a user control (uc3) declared in the markup. I am trying to access uc3 from uc1 but I get NullReferenceException. I thought due to inheritance uc3 would instantiate but looks like I am missing a step.
Clarification:
How does the child user control inherit the markup from the base class? The server controls in the base user control are null in the code behind of the base user control. Why?

View 6 RepliesI've run into a problem with one of my web sites and I am having trouble figuring out the problem and a good solution. This is my scenario: I have a user control that displays a slideshow with images and some text that changes every fifteen seconds. To do this, I have an update panel that contains a timer control with an interval of 15000. It calls a method called slideshowTimer_Tick in the codebehind. The web page that contains this user control is a relatively simple page; no update panels or timers, just divs.
The problem I have is that if I have two of these user controls on the page, the tick event only fires for the first control. It never fires for the second control, although the control is full initialized otherwise.
