Removing Http301 Redirect From Client's Cache?

I have a server/client architecture where the client hits the ASP.NET server's service at a certain host name, IP address, and port. Without thinking, I logged on to the server and set up permanent HTTP301 redirection through IIS from that service to another URL that the machine handles via IIS (same IP and port), mistakenly thinking it was another site that is hosted there. When the client hit the server at the old host name, it cached the permanent redirect. Now, even though I have removed the redirection, the client no longer uses the old address. How can I clear the client's cache so that it no longer stores the redirect?
I have read about how permanent HTTP301 can be, but in this case, it should be possible to reset a single client's knowledge of the incorrectly-learned host name.

The textbox has an onblur event (the workings of the onblur event are irrelevant), and an associated RequiredFieldValidator. This code functions exactly as it should. However,if in the body onload event I simply raise an alert of the innerHTML of tr1 or td1, the onblur event does not appear (but it does work, and can be seen when I view source in IE7). If I remove the RequiredFieldValidator, the onblur event handler is shown in the alert, or if I retain the validator but change onblur to onfocus, then the event handler also appears in the alert. I need this to work as when the user increases the Quantity, duplicates of the table row are added (I have tried both cloneNode, and setting the innerHTML of each new table cell to that of the original, but as my alert proves, the onblur event handler is not included in what is copied). The same problem also occurs with onchange for select tags with validators. I am using Visual Studio 2008 (.Net
2), IE7 and IIS 7.

I have a multiline textbox that by default, is set to ReadOnly. I would like a button on the page to change the control to allow it to be edited. I would like this code to run on the client side because the page renders slowly and I'd like to avoid the post back.
The problem I'm having is the javascript code that I wrote to remove the readonly attribute appears to have no effect. I posted a stripped down example that illustrates the problem for your review.

So I have a number of dropdown select list controls populated as part of a repeater. They might contain overlapping data, meaning that the first d d list control will have selections:

c
Second one:
c
d
e
Third one:
d
e
h
and so on.
So what I would like to do is to srart removing the duplicate items from the reset of drop down controls once the user starts selecting those. I intend to use jQuery for this.

My web client requires client-side output caching since it makes use of its own Back and Forward buttons (which basically just call the browser back/forward buttons).
The issue I'm having, however, is (of course) when the user signs out of the app. The client-side output cache remains so anyone can click the "back" button and it appears to be signed in again. I've researched a few solutions, but most involve server-side output caching or no output caching at all.
I've had success with server caching and HttpResponse.RemoveOutputCacheItem, but unfortunately I need the client side caching.
Is it at all possible to clear this client side output cache upon logging out?

Usual javascript files can be cached on a client-side if web server sets the expiration. If user has once downloaded it, it will be cached by his browser.And what about AjaxControlToolkit ToolkitScriptManager? Are combined JS files cached on a client? How can expiration time be managed?

We have tried with Output Cache, with caching in the code behind, but the only result we get is server side caching (by IIS7).
In the header of the response cache-control is set to public and expiration time is set (to 14800 as set in output cache profile).

Assume a simple aspx data entry page in which admin user can upload an image as well as some other data. They are stored in database and the next time admin visits that page to edit record, image data fetched and a preview generated and saved to disk (using GDI+) and the preview is shown in an image control.
This procedure works fine for the first time however if the image changes (a new one uploaded) the next time the page is surfed it shows previously uploaded image. I debugged the application and everything works correct. The new image data is in database and new preview is stored in Temp location however the page shows previous one. If I refresh the page it shows the new image preview. I should mention that preview is always saved to disk with one name (id of each record as the name).
I think that is because of IE and other browsers use client cache instead of loading images each time a page is surfed. I wonder if there is a way to force the client browser to refresh itself so the newly uploaded image is shown without user intervention.

I have a masterpage that calls all kind of external files from the server on startup, mainly css and jquery files. So, problem is, every time I open the page, there are a lot of roundtrips to the server to request these files.After the initial loading has been done, everything is ok.
Will it be possible to cache these small files to the client side, with a predetermined expiration date, so when i next open the page, I will keep the roundtrips to the servers at a minimum?

My requirement is to get the file size in client side. there is no problem in FF but in IE you can't do that unless u r using an activeX object. So we thought of putting it in browser cache and reading the file size from there and when we post it to the server we will be taking it from the cache and send it to the server.

I have a page that when the user clicks a button there is a custom loading panel placed in the update panel by the PageRequestManager BeginRequest event. So when the page is loaded the loading panel is removed. My issue is that when the user clicks a button that redirects to an httphandler the page is not reloaded therefore the loading panel is never removed.
So I'm trying to think of a way to remove the loading panel before the redirect occurs, whether this be with a client script call before the redirect or what ever. So far I've thought about trying to do Response.write("..."), then Response.Redirect().

I'm calling a static Page method via javascript that takes between 5s and 10 min. I'd like to give my user the choice to either continue waiting for the request to complete or not, and use window.setTimeout() to check back every 30s.
I've tried both location.href = '/newpage.aspx' or firing a button's click handler (which does similar redirect) to redirect the user prior to completion of the page method, to no avail. I can immediately send user to a simple html page, but a redirect to any aspx page involving server-side appears to block. When the page method finally completes, the redirect does succeed.
Is this:
a browser issue? If all modern browsers support at least 2 concurrent requests per domain, why wouldn't this work?
a framework limitation? a desirable design pattern or even possible? I've checked, and after redirecting to an HTML page, the original request continues processing (db updates, no problem).

We have a wfc layer that wraps the business classes and database access and use a client that lives on the database layer. Amongst our group we are attempting to form standards. Some want to have the client call the web method and pass the page they are requesting and the page size. Pass that to the database and then page in SQL Server use RowNum.Some want to cache the full list of objects in http cache on the service tier and page in memory. They concern here is memory use on the server.
Which would be best for a medium number of users with potentially large number of records to manage (say 30K) Is it better to cache them all in memory and work from there or page at the database as the application scales?

Since I don't want my sessions to be removed unless the session has been abandoned either via code or Session Timeout...For eviction, I would think "None" and for expireable, I would think False.I have tested and calling Session.Abandon does remove the object from the cache. I have also tested to see if by extending my session, the session object in cache is also extended. This does seem to work the "correct" way.

We have a data driven ASP.NET website which has been written using the standard pattern for data caching (adapted here from MSDN):

The trouble with this is that the call to GetDataFromSQL() is expensive and the use of the site is fairly high. So every five minutes, when the cache drops, the site becomes very 'sticky' while a lot of requests are waiting for the new data to be retrieved.
What we really want to happen is for the old data to remain current while new data is periodically reloaded in the background. (The fact that someone might therefore see data that is six minutes old isn't a big issue - the data isn't that time sensitive). This is something that I can write myself, but it would be useful to know if any alternative caching engines (I know names like Velocity, memcache) support this kind of scenario. Or am I missing some obvious trick with the standard ASP.NET data cache?

We are using HttpRuntime.Cache API in an ASP.NET to cache data retrieved from a database.
For this particular application, our database queries feature a LOT of parameters, so our cache keys look something like this:
table=table1;param1=somevalue1;param2=somevalue2;param3=somevalue3;param4=somevalue4;param5=somevalue5;param6=somevalue6... etc...
we have so many parameters that the cache key is several hundred characters long. is there a limit to the length of these cache keys? Internally, it is using a dictionary, so theoretically the lookup time should be constant. However, I wonder if we have potential to run into some performance/memory problem.
