Replace Text Within GridView With Image
Oct 7, 2014
I have a GridView that is populated in code from a MySQL database. The code:
Code:
If con.State = Data.ConnectionState.Open Then
con.ChangeDatabase("EcoWatch")
strSQL = "SELECT DeviceDescription, deviceStatus FROM switchstatus WHERE ClientID='" & ClientID & "' ORDER BY DeviceType"
myDataAdapter = New MySqlDataAdapter(strSQL, con)
[Code]...
What I need to accomplish is :
1). Change the text "ON" or "OFF" with the relevant images:"~/Images/SwON.png" and "~/Images/SwOFF.png"
2). Add an additional ImageButton column to the far right of the GridView that allows the user to perform an action.

How to use pattern replacement in the RTF?. For example you can add a placeholder like {USER_FIRST_NAME} in the RTF document. When the user clicks the download button, your application can take the information from the database and replace every instance of {USER_FIRST_NAME} with the data from the database....

Let's take this string has an example:
D:/firstdir/Another One/and 2/bla bla bla/media/reports/Darth_Vader_Report.pdf
I want to cut the first part of the path:
D:/firstdir/Another One/and 2/bla bla bla
And replace it with **../**, and keep the second part of the path (media/reports/Darth_Vader_Report.pdf)
If I knew the length or size of it, I could use the Replace or Substring. But since the first part of the string is dynamic, how can I do this?
Update
After StriplingWarrior question, I realized that I could have explained better.
The objective is to replace everything behind /media. The "media" directory is static, and will always be the decisive part of the path.

How can I replace a string/word in a Word Document via ASP.NET? I just need to replace a couple words in the document, so I would like to stay AWAY from 3rd party plugins & interop. I would like to do this by opening the file and replacing the text. The following attempts were made:I created a StreamReader and Writer to read the file but I think that I am reading and writing in the wrong format. I think that Word Documents are stored in binary?? If word documents are binary, how would I read and write the file in binary?
Dim template As String = Request.MapPath("documentName.doc")
If File.Exists(template) Then
As New StreamReader(template)

There is a AlternateText property in image-buttons so that while hovering mouse on image buttons, alternate text could clarify the functionality of the button. I want to do so with ASP.net standard gridview and show a text while mouse being stopped on buttonfield button that I've added to my gridview. But such a property does not exist and my searches using Intellisense reached nowhere.

I have a 1-column gridview (and it must remain 1-column) which contains only text. My requirement is to prefix each row with an image followed by the text. The image may or may not be indented a bit, like an expanded child node in a tree.
I know a gridview renders as a table and I know I could put an image at the beginning of each row in a table (using a repeater, for example). But this is an existing app with a couple gridviews which need to be enhanced and I don't have the time to swap out the gridviews for repeaters.

I'm using a book to create a shopping site and need to change the following code so that the current dropdown list, of colour options, is replaced by just read only text. I'm a novice and despite best efforts I can't fathom it out. If anyone can change the code for me I would be extremely grateful.

Failed to load viewstate. The control tree into which viewstate is being loaded must match the control tree that was used to save viewstate during the previous request. For example, when adding controls dynamically, the controls added during a post-back must match the type and position of the controls added during the initial request.
The above error occurs with gridview control , when used with template field columns with item template / and edit templates etc.
updating a row within gridview, at the time of loadiong it loads perfectly fined, but when tried to modify an existing row within gridview control, then it produces the error. Make sure the grid view control has to be a child control which manages the child table info with in a master form. to reproduce the above problem the grid view must be loading the child records info of a master within the masterform, meaning both master data and gridview data all to be managed in one single form.
I had to replace gridview control with datagrid and then it worked perfectly fine. I wasted almost 4 days of my time., there is no way we could figure out the problem. here is the full info of the problem.

I am showing images of members on my website. The images are already saved to file. I want to add some text to the image that is loaded in the image control. I don't want to save it to file, just display the change on that web page. I have seen code on how to do this but I do not see how to load it into an image control. Is this possible without saving it to file?
