I have an asp.net web application that use FormsAuthentication. Now, the application has a WCF Service that need to use Basic Authentication. So, I need to return the 401 status code, but everytime it's picked up by asp.net and redirecting me to the login page.How could I disable this feature and finally being able to throw a 401 without intervention from the FormsAuthentication module?

Have implemented the same code given in the example and change the appid and secret code but is not reflecting the email and username but the name is reflecting and the picture is also reflecting.
I am using Visual Studio 2008 Express and created a login page using the ASP.net web site Adminstration tool security to generate users and passwords.
After login, a new page appears. I have a button to go back to the login page to allow a user to relogin. When I try loging in again as a different user or the same, I get an error saying the resource that I am looing for was not available.
I have a button on the page after login (one this one page will occur) and I am using on on click event to do the following:
FormsAuthentication.Initialize()
FormsAuthentication.SignOut()
Response.Redirect("~/Login.Aspx")
After clicking on this button, the Login page appears again. How can I release everyting to allow it to work like when I first open the application.

some methods of Bll.dll return List<> ... from a source - that i don't remember now - told that returning Collection<> is better than returning List<> Is it a valid ? Note that i don't make any process on values returned from BLL methods .. just view it in a web page
I have my website in which there are free links and links that require login. Free links open even if the user is not logged in. But in case of links that require login, redirect to login.aspx specified in Web.Config in loginURL tag.
I want some way to override this and show Ajax modal popup (Ajax extender toolkit) with login control for only thos links that require login (not for the free links).

When i try to insert my NRIC and password, it's like not passing through the statement, it just say login sucessfully eventhough i put the wrong NRIC/Password/Not valid..

I am doing project in ASP.NET with C#.net using SQL Server DB,
I am getting endless loop when user logged in after some time page is displaying,
and also i ahave masterpage in that i have login button, when i clicked login buton it is not going to the redirected page, appearing in the same page but sessions are going to be assigned(there are some sessions in login button like loginID). If i presss second time login button then user logged in page is appearing. This problem is when uploaded into server, local it is working good.
I need to create an application with Forms Authentication and/or Windows Authentication. If the application is set to use mixed authentication (Forms + Windows Auth) and the user don't have a Windows user account, the login will fail and he must be redirected to a forms login page. How can I do this?
Are there any different way to provide mixed authentication?

View 6 RepliesI am working on a web application in C#. I am using FormsAuthenticationTicket to authenticate the user. The user's information is check against a sqlserver database, if the correct credential is entered, (combine the username and password, encrypt them using the FormsAuthentication, and assign the random number generated to a session.), the users is redirected to a welcome pages.
However, I notice that there are times when I run the application, and it takes over five minutes to display the login screen, or I have to stop and start the application in order to display the login screen . Does anyone have an idea what may cause this issue?
I have a home page that is very design-specific, down to the pixel. It needs to have username/password/login, but I can't have it showing any error messages there. There is a separate standalone login page that is not design-specific and can show any messages. It's using the standard Login control.Is there an easy way to link the two so that if an error occurs on the home page the standalone page comes up with the errors?

i have a ListView with some labels (this labels can be increment[+1] and decrement[-1]) by the user via buttons. now i have the problem, that each of this list items have a details view at which the user can look at. but when he return to the overwiev page, all labels ar set back to the default 0.
how can i solve this problem, so that the user returns from the details view to the overview, that he see all the changed label values.
I have a main page with some buttons on it.If the user clicks on a button, a frame is created in the center and a order (web)form is shown.At the end of the form, when the order is placed, I want to close the frame somehow.What would be the best way to do this?If I do a redirect on the page that is in the frame, it just opens the main page in the frame, which isn't what I'm looking for of course.

My problem is that when I click on a button the page automatically returns to the top of the page(the image is displayed). The me.button.focus() code causes the page to load on top of the displayed image. Is there a way to keep the focus on the button while the image is being diplayed at the same time.

But now when deployed to IIS in windows 7, the login page cannot go to the default page and remain in login page after login.
I don't know why there is different behavior between these two.

In the header of the response cache-control is set to public and expiration time is set (to 14800 as set in output cache profile).
I'm building an ASP.NET MVC site where I want one of the Views I return to be automatically scroll to a certain point.The part of the site where I want this to occur works sort of like a forum - there are "threads" that contain "posts". A user can either browse to the whole paginated thread or can browse to a specific post, using its ID. When a user browses to a specific post, I want to show the regular thread interface, then browse to the page that the post is on and scroll down to the post.
Is it possible to somehow automatically scroll down to a certain point when returning a View from an action in an ASP.NET MVC site? If so, how do I do this?NOTE: One solution to this problem that I've found is how Stack Overflow and the other Stack Exchange sites do it: each answer to a question can be linked to by adding #ID to the URL. If it's impossible to automatically scroll down when returning a View, I would implement this instead, but I don't understand how to use such an approach when there are multiple pages and the post in question isn't on the current page.UPDATE:Based on Chris' answer, I'm currently planning to implement it with the URL looking like this: example.com/forum/[ForumID]/thread/[ThreadID]/post/[PostID]#[PostID]. I have one page that checks the content type then either returns an XML or a Plain Text page.
On IE6 (Unfortunately still the corporate standard) viewing XML content works but when I try and view the Plain Text content it reports: The XML page cannot be displayed. Invalid at the top level of the document. Error processing resource.
On Firefox it works perfectly, displaying an XML document for XML content and a plain text document otherwise.
Is this a bug with IE6 caching the content type? The URL is the same but the query string is different for different entries.
