SQL Reporting :: Finding The Data Within A Particular Range
Sep 6, 2010
I need to create a report that will show the list of data that is within that range of period. The scenario will be:
- the user will choose the starting month and the ending month from a drop down list. (for example, starting month = July and ending month = September)
- then the report will be showing all the data within that range of month chosen by the user. (data from July until September will be shown, including data from the month of AUGUST)
- the problem I'm having is that when I choose the starting month and ending month as shown above, I only get the data from the month of JULY and the month of SEPTEMBER, the data from month of AUGUST will not be shown.

I am trying to restrict the data in the report with the use of a start date and an end date selected from a textbox (w/ ajax calendar extender)
should this be done on the report side or should i create a stored procedure and pass the variables to the stored procedure by microsoft report viewer.
It seems like there is two connection strings to the database, one for the report and one for the report viewer, is this correct?

I'am looking for a dynamic reporting tool for Asp.Net. Tool should support drag drop of data fields, simple grouping and simple expressions. Actually end users will use this tool for data listing. Rendering to html and pdf is enough.

I am working on a Report Module for a DNN website and have found that the reports do not show in the reportviewer control if there is no ScriptManager control on the module. I am not sure where but somewhere I read it was needed. THe problem is when it is on the module so the reportviewer works correctly I am getting some errors with my other controls( mainly drop downs I want to use for selecting the reports) I am not getting an error just the DDL is not showing up on the page when scriptmanager is included but it does show up when its not included of course then the reportviewer shows no report.

I have a Range Validator as follows. It is for restricting values between 1900 and 2070. However, it fires error when I enter a alphabet also. I want this to be fired only if the user enters integer values. How do I overcome it?
<asp:RangeValidator ID="RangeValidator1" runat="server" ControlToValidate="txtYear"
ValidationGroup="report" ErrorMessage="EM1|Year" MaximumValue="2079" MinimumValue="1900"
SetFocusOnError="True" Display="Dynamic" Type="Integer">
<img src="../../Images/error.gif" alt="Format" />

I have data from multiple tables that I would like to display in a gridview via a stored procedure. I need to select the data based on a date range and display it. Once displayed I need to include a button that would allow the user to export the gridview data to an excel spreadsheet. Does anyone have an out of the box solution or know of a tutorial I can use to accomplish this feat? I am currently using 2.0 for this project. I am newish to .net.
Here is my stored procedure that calls the data from multiple tables.

I am persevering with visual developer express 2010 whilst learning visual basic from hello world stage onward. In the meantime I have a difficulty . I am trying to display a range of data in details view which is being fed a parameter from a dropdown list. I cannot seem to come up with a query that will pull over all data from a column that is less than a certain number and then display it with distinct values in the dropdown. for example I would like say to pull over height data where it displays all data below 20m all data below 30m etc. is this possible without heavy coding?

I recently had to remove a field from my datakey on all three gridview tables. On the top level table the field (ignum) remains as a non key field. On the two lower level tables it was removed completely. Now, the top level gridview opens correctly, but when I click on select this should bring up all the records in the second gridview associated with the selected row in the first gridview, but I get the following error:
[Code]....
I've looked at everything I can thing of and everything looks ok. The tables look good, I've removed all references to the removed field and I've restructured all the code to account for the changes. I'm missing something, but I don't know what. I've gone through debug step by step and the error occurs as I leave the GridView1_SelectedIndexChanged code. It goes down to the End Sub line with no errors, but when I step again it errors out. Here is that section of code.

I have a ListView InsertItemTemplate where there is field (Date) using the AJAX Library CalendarExtender. I want to add some validation to this field, whereby they can't add a date that is later than today. So I have added a RangeValidator and tried to set its MaximumValue to DateTime.Now on Page Load. Unfortuantely it isn't working.

I have used the DataKeyNames property of the GridView to assign the column name whose visible property is set to false to get the cells value when the column is kept invisible. But, sometimes there is an error on this line of code - string cellValue = GridView.DataKeys[e.NewEditIndex].Value.ToString(); Following Error is generated -
