SQL Server :: Database Tables / Have Lost A Bunch Of Memory?
Jan 19, 2011
I used to work in the IT field, but because of an accident and meds I have lost a bunch of my memory. So, I'm in need of relational database help..I've got a web site I want to put up that will sell books. I'll be using SQL server 2008. I'll be using Pay Pal's Cart, etc, so I just have to put up some buttons on the web site, but I need to track, display, etc, the books and properties about the books such as Authors, Paper back or hard cover, first edition, or something else, etc,..I have a table for books obviously, but I'm wondering if I should break out the Authors out of that table? I mean I don't see why except that if I end up with some books that have the same author then there names will be stored more than once, but I will be doing a lot more queries than inserts. I've got Customers, Book Types which is if the book is a hard cover, softcover, first edition, etc,. I will relate the Books to the Book Types of course, but again, should I have an authors table? Hope this makes sense.. I am using Visual Studio 2008 Pro, and want to do my relations there, so I thought I'd do so in the IDE if possible? I can't remember, but I thought it was possible?
I'm trying to send a bunch of looped records from database to javascript array in codebehind to add overlays to the googlemap markers. So farthe code below only provide me the first marker.
PHP Code:
private void BuildScript(DataTable tbl) { String Markers = ""; foreach (DataRow r in tbl.Rows) {
How is the best way of putting a lookup table in memory for use though my ASP.NET app? Should I do this in the Global.asax's Application_Start event and keep in Session?
I'm really not a database person, so forgive me if this question. I'm using visual studio 2008 and i am trying to view tables on another server database. Example
I have my aspnetdb.mdf database, and my anaylsis.mdf database. What i am trying to do within visual studio is read table colunms that are inside aspnetdb.mdf from anaylsis.mdf.
IDE: MS Visual Studio 2008 / SQL Server 2005 Express / SQL Server Management Studio Express 2005 Skills: BeginnerI was trying to delete a table from my database ASPNETDB.MDF ,that DB was previously used for User login information i made it by using asp.net built in login support by opening ASP.NET configuration ,but now i want to built my own simple login control...so i want to remove all the tables made by ASP.NET configuration.I got this error when deleting one of the table"Could not drop object 'dbo.aspnet_Applications' because it is referenced by a FORIEGN KEY constraint"
I have a memory leak somewhere that I cant find. Every few days my server will crash, and just before that I log a ton of SQL errors stating that it is "out of memory".
I cant find it anywhere, all of my connections are being disposed like so:
[Code].... Then I call the connection from my pages like so:[Code]....
That is all pretty straight forward. The connection is disposed because it is implementing the USING clause. I am opening the connection in my connection manager class, and not where it is being utilized?Or, could the problem be in the below method I am using to populate a SqlDataReader:[Code]....
Now, at first it appears as though this could be the problem because the Connection isn't part of a USING clause, however doesn't the 'Data.CommandBehavior.CloseConnection' pretty much do the same thing. This makes sure that the connection is closed when the reader is closed, right? Here is how I call that above reader from my login page code behind:[Code]....
So the DataReader will get closed even without the .Close() because it is in the USING, and the connection should get closed because I specified it in the ExecuteReader paramters right?
What would you all suggest a database with less number of tables and more number of columns or more number of tables with less number of columns. I am developing a web application using Visual stuio 2005 and Sql Server 2005
I want to add custom columns to some tables created by ASP.NET. For example; I need to add two fields such as FirstName and LastName to the aspnet_Membership table.
I can add this directly by editing the table but;
Is this the right thing to do (I mean; extending the table directly) OR should I create a separate table and hold the extra user data, there?How can I see these custom database fields as properties in code completion? example: membershipuser.FirstName;
i have one database named as sampleDB its having more than 100 tables. this database running on production. here we have one requirement need to add companyid feild all the tables in our sampleDb. is it possible to write query to alter all the table.
I am developing the Home page of a Client. Apart from various things on this home page I have a text box and search button. Having said that, I have a database in which I have almost 12 tables with varying number of columns. Now my question is,Is there anyway to search a word typed by a user in the textbox to search it in all the tables(all columns) of the database.
I'm working on a new asp.net 4.0 resume web site. I'm starting off with SQL Server Express 2005 and using the standard security and login features given with ASPNETDB.mdf. My site will be hosted on GoDaddy.com.
Quesiton. Should the tables that will contain the information that users will be putting in like resumes, contact information and such go into ASPNETDB.mdf or should it go into a separate database.
I am a little new to this concept so bear with me.1) I need to query atleast 35 tables using linq to sql(SQL server database) . I am not able to add all the database entities in Linq to sql classes?
2)(View Model issue) When I use List<Reportcollection> and also List<Receipt> to convert the result then its giving an error that "Cannot convert list<anonymous> to list<string>"
Is there a way to select data from multiple tables other than the UNION ALL statement. Addtionally I need to select data from a different database.
My current statement is as follows (there are alot more fields but I have shortened it ):
SELECT server.dbo.SRFILE.SR_GROUP, server.dbo.SRFILE.SROWNERSHIP, server.dbo.SRFILE.SRCONMAE, BSFLBWF_1.Incidentx, BSFLBWF_1.Severityx FROM server.dbo.SRFILE INNER JOIN BSFLBWF AS BSFLBWF_1 ON BSFLBWF_1.Incidentx = server.dbo.SRFILE.SRONUMBER WHERE (BSFLBWF_1.Closex IS NULL).........
I am working on a multi-lingual application Assume the following:
Database has 50 tables and application has to support 5 languages
Which is the best way to design the database:
1. Include a langugae column for each table. Repeat the values for each language. Say i have a country table which has 100 countries in it. Then my design will contain 500 rows (100 for each langugae)
2. Create a separate table which will contain the translations for all the 50 tables in with a foreign key to the parent table.
I am using bulk insert concept to export the data from dat file to tables(Two tables). I am using the temporary table for to do the calculation and insertion to two tables. My problem is whenever I selecting the temp table data after the execution of bulk insertion , the order is changing .I need to get the order as it is in file order(csv,dat,txt).
I have two tables for storing language translations - tblEN and tblES. They have the same structure which is nvcEnglish and nvcLocal - both nVarChar fields.
In nvcLocal of the Spanish table, I enter the Spanish translations of words and phrases used within my app. Problem is, when I add a bunch of new records to the English table I also have to go in and repeat the data entry into the Spanish table. I am wondering if there is a way to import the newly added records into the Spanish table using Transact SQL?The plain language query would be something like:
If the data in tblEN.nvcEnglish does not exist in tblES.nvcEnglish then insert a new row into tblES with the values from tblEN
I'm writing an MVC app and want to have a central DataBase factory class to provide all my DB connections, something like this:-
[Code]....obviously I'll have to instanciate this every time I need to use it, so I was thinking of making it a static class:-
[Code].... so that instead of my controller code saying
[Code].... I can just say
but would this cause a memory leak? I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that if a static class creates objects that persist beyond it's methods and return those (esp things like DB connection objects) these won't get garbaged collected when the calling method is disposed of as they were created/referenced outside the scope of that calling (controller action) method and so will hang around in memory?
var tableObject = DatabaseFactory.GetDatabaseTable(); List<DbRecord> records = tableObject.Table.ToList();
I am building an asp.net application, using II6 on windows server 2003 (vps hosting).
I am confronted with an error I didn't receive on my development machine (windows 7, iis 7.5, 64 bit).
When my wcf service tries launching my query running against a local sql server this is the error I receive:
Memory gates checking failed because the free memory (43732992 bytes) is less than 5% of total memory. As a result, the service will not be available for incoming requests. To resolve this, either reduce the load on the machine or adjust the value of minFreeMemoryPercentageToActivateService on the serviceHostingEnvironment config element.
I have both VS 2005 and 2008 installed on my machine. 2005 is fine. For 2008, literally any asp.net project I try to create gets this eror. I try stepping into the code, and the error occurs apparently before anything that I can trap is loaded. There is no information written to the event log. I have tried this with a "Hello World" webpage with nothing else going on. Seems unique to my Windows Server 2003 machine.
I am getting a weird error in asp.net while using leadtools imaging api. Here's the stack trace.
System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. at SetThreadData(_THREADDATA* ) at Leadtools.Codecs.CodecsOptions.Use() at Leadtools.Codecs.RasterCodecs.DoSave(SaveParams saveParams) at Leadtools.Codecs.RasterCodecs.Save(RasterImage image, Stream stream, RasterImageFormat format, Int32 bitsPerPixel)........
I am maintaining C# .NET code written by somebody else, I get following exception few times,Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corruptThe code structure where I get the above exception is somethign like this,- it is using ref variables in following sequence,Variable-1 and variable-2 are local variables in App1, - App1: func1() which passes these variables reference to func2(), - App1: func2() passes same variables reference via .net remoting to another application (App2).-App2: does the same passes same received reference to another call 2 times.- The execption is occured while returning from App2.
(App1:func1(ref Var1, ref Var2) --> App1:func2(ref Var1, ref Var2) <---App1 .net remoting to App2--> App2:func3(ref Var1, ref Var2)--> App2:func4(ref Var1, ref Var2)-->variables getting updated and function returned to original caller)
My doubts are ,1. Is passing reference variables in such chain is correct? will it cause such exeption? Does .net support ref variable call directly?
I am unable to connect to my local instance of SQL Server 2008 Express using SQL Server Management Studio.I believe the problem is related to a change I made to the connection protocols. Before the error occurred, I had Shared Memory enabled and Named Pipes and TCP/IP disabled. I then enabled both Named Pipes and TCP/IP, and this is when I started experiencing the problem.
I have now set Named Pipes and TCP/IP back to disabled. When I try to connect to the server with SSMS (with either my SQL server sysadmin login or with windows authentication), I get the following error message:
"A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 233)"
My first question here is: why is it returning a Named Pipes error? Why isn't it using Shared Memory? It seems like it is not listening on Shared Memory for some reason?When I set Named Pipes to enabled and try to connect, I get the same error message.My windows account is does not have administrator priviliges on my computer.
