Feb 17, 2011i have a store procedure that load data in a table of SQL SERVER 2008 from an excel file.the issue is, that the excel file have a column of DATE type, and i want that the system interprets the format in it, no matter what comes in it.dd/MM/yyyy mm/dd/yyyyi have an argue about this with my parnerts, cause i think is imposible, if you don't have a format before the process runs.

Jul 23, 2010I have a large dataset (35,000+ rows) that I need to export to excel and then let the user download. I have done this the conventional way (with a gridview), but the data has grown, causing a OutOfMemoryException on the web server.
So I thought, would it not be better if I can export the data into excel on the sql server, and then transfer this data to the web server.
Note that this is not a one-off job. This will be ran regularly (twice a month), but the user. Hence I need something that the user can initiate.

Custom Server Controls :: Base Not Initialized - Missing Something?
Aug 31, 2010I have an ASP.net control that contains a grid (protected member variable). Grid is populated from a function in the control. I have derived a new user control from this control without any control in it. I added additional functionality to populate grid and called base class function to do further operation on the grid. When I run my code, I get the null reference exception on grid object in the base control. I missing something in control inheritance? at what point do inner controls get created?

I do not want to install Excel on theserver and instead want to utilize the Excel installed on the user's computer for this purpose as every user's computer is expected to have Excel installed. Is this possible to do? How to do this?

Excel data will be predefined Format with almost 42 columns and out of 42 10 fields are mandatory and rest are conditional mandatory. i.e. if data exists it should be in defined format. I also need to validate for special character, length, specified format and so on.After validating, i need to store valid data into sql server table and provide export to excel functionality for invalid data for exporting in same excel format with indicator to identity the invalid cells.

I thought it'd be as easy as copy the column, and hit paste in the "table data" view, but it's not (it only pastes one cell).
