I have a site that allow the user to request a secret report in a pdf format. My idea is to put the generated pdf files in a public folder with disabled directory browsing. Each file name consists of 128 characters that are uniquely and cryptographically generated. The legitimate user will be given the link of his/her own report.

I'd like give unique name for uploaded files in a folder.
I know we can a uniqueidentifier to file name but I think it isn't a good way.
I have a folder with 200+ pictures. I want to get the names of each of the pictures to the database. would it be easier to import and export the images into the database (I want my webpage to be able to show the images once they are in the database)?

A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (ctl00$ContentPlaceHolder1$txtname="<test>"). I found the solution of this porblem by ValidateRequest="false". But if i do this then the request will not be validate and then attacks probablity will be increase. what should i do to for this whithout using ValidateRequest attribute.

Following the first site, it had worked but when I´ve moved the pages and files to other folders and set the web.config file on this folder, now it won´t work at all!!!
The file is an *.swf object. I did put the asapi.dll to map the extension on the website root, I´ve put the
[Code]....
on the web.config new folder and on the web.config website´s root.
It won´t work!!! I can access the file directly!!! on the web.config of the folder that contains the file, there is a <deny users="*" /> line.

i have a page in which i am displaying the name of all the users i want to filter their names on the basis of first character for that i want to show A B C D ....X Y Z filters on the top on clicking of which it will filter the names accordingly my problem is not the query part but how to add these letters do i have to add 26 link buttons separately or there is some work around for example you might have seen such type of behavior in some music sites for filtering the songs with starting character.
View 2 RepliesI currently have an accordion and I want each accordion to populate only if the user clicks on that header( partial accordion rendering ). How are people doing that nowadays? I know I can do it with updatepanels but have read bad things about update panels. Also just as an FYI each accrordion panel content pane will look the same ..It will have a thumbnail of the product..several checkboxes and a download button . The values or names of the checkboxes need to be generated so that I can then grab them and lookup those values in an xml file to find the location and then zip those files up and have user download it..I actually have all this working with all the content of the accordion being generated on server at load time but being that I'm trying to learn asp.net I figured I would give partial rendering a shot..I like the idea of only loading content for that accordion panel if user is interested in in. I also have a webservice running which displays hello world in the accordion panel content that trigger the network callback..That's fine but then I'm thinking ok now how do I build the checkboxes and html that I really need to send back and is this web service the correct solution. Another thought is using javascript to create elements as the data is retrieived from the web service..I'm just trying to do it the right way[URL]

This is only for my DEVELOPMENT Machine (to help speed up compiling -> temp crap goes to ram instead of the Disk).

Whatever I try I cannot seem to find the "Corporate Contacts" public folder. Can someone offer any pointers or assistance on this as its beginning to drive me crazy!
I have a folder with png images that are not shared or public (the folder is outside my application folder). Now I want my users to be able to view thoose images only if they are logged in (different users, different images). All images have a name that correspond to the users id. My idea is to stream thoose images into the asp:Image control, is that possible? How do I do that? Other (better) solutions?
View 6 RepliesWhen using VS2008 and C# I choose File - New - Web Site.I use namespaces in the aspx files in the same folder.The problem is that the aspx files in one folder can not access the aspx files in other folders even though the files in each of the other folders use the same namespace followed by the folder name.
In fact, if I am in one folder and type the namespaces followed by a period, the other folder names are not displayed in intellisense, only the name of the folder name of the aspx file in which it resides is displayed on the intellisense.
How can I get the other folder names to show in intellisense from any other folder that I am working in when coding in the code behind? fyi, in the html inherit I point to the namespace, the folder name and the code behind file then in the code behind file I code the namespace, the folder name the aspx file is in and the class is the name of the code behind file.

I am trying to write an asp.net webpage which contains an applet. Everything works fine when I run this in a development folder, but when I move it to the IIS web server public folder it doesn't work anymore. I don't get any error message. The browser doesn't repaint the applet area Here is the source code:

Im using a file uploader to upoad files to a folder used for upload.But the problem is this folder is a linux folder. I have made it a shared folder so that I can access from windows by samba. So, file transfer is successful when I'm using os but when I try to upload something from my websites uploader to this folder, this process is not successful. I have given all permissions to this folder.Don't know whats the problem.I have used both type of slashes for directory but still it is not successful.
