SQL Server :: Joins - Returns A Row When There Is Matching Table In Both Tables
Jan 29, 2011
Inner Join:- Returns a row when there is matching table in both tables. we can use comparison operator like =,<,>,<>
I created two tables
TableA
ID OID Type
1 1 A
2 6 B
3 7 C
4 10 D
TableB
ID Value
1 10
2 30
3 40
5 60
6 70
Basic Inner Join select Type From TableB as a inner join TableA as b on a.ID=b.OID Result Type
A
B
If i want only the type which has not match in tableB then i can use not in subquery i get the result if i m using select Type From TableB as a inner join TableA as b on a.ID<>b.OID then i get
One of my peer wrote a query based on multiple tables using joins. One of the table is in a different database The query was taking much time
1. Create an SP 2. Create a temp table and copy all records from the external db 3. Avoid using Left Join as much as possible and use Inner Join 4. Create and use indexes 5. Remove tables/columns that are not necessary
In this scenario, I would like to suggest to use Covering Index, but how can it be created for multiple tables and a temp table?
I have a web service with a dataset and I need to fill a gridview in my web page with data from multiple tables (like 4). How can I retrieve data from my 4 tables and construct a datatable with a table adapter in the dataset? I need to create this in the web service to bind the gridview in my page. In SQL I create a view with the joins of the 4 tables and added the view to the dataset. It works fine, but for other windows in my web page I need to use like 8 trough 10 tables (just to retrieve one field of each one) and I don't know if making that huge joins is the more efficient way to retrieve data from the server. There is another way to make joins? (Make separate queries for each table and create one table in memory) How?
I have a web page with a GridView and a table outside the gridview to display more information of the record when it is selected (like record details). I'm using data of five tables for this particularly window. I use one table of the five to bind the gridview the other tables are for the details, but I use like 1 or 2 fields of those tables. I'm binding the page with web services. I need some advice on which is the better way for doing this to make a faster web page.
In sql server I made a view with the five tables (all the tables relations are working perfectly). In the web service I call the view; and in the web page I call the web service to bind the page. Everything is working. All I want to do is retrieve from the server all the necessary data only once when the page loads and bind the five tables data (like 18 fields total) in the gridview which I only show 12 fields the other 6 fields are hidden, those 6 are for the details which I get with jQuery (that's another topic). Bind everything only once and manage the data on client side. Everything is working perfectly. Here is my doubt.
How are the maximum table joins I can make? To retrieve the data via web and not get a server time out error. Which is a better way to make a faster page? Make 2 views one for the gridview and one for the details and put each view in a web service; or make one view with all the table joins and one web service. Right now all is working but I have to make other pages that use different tables and joins and I don't know if the server gets me the time out error when the page is fully working.
I have three tables. I need to merge these three tables into one table. There is an ID column in all these three tables. The ID's can be same in all three tables or they can be different. If the IDs are same then I need to merge based on those ID's so if the ID 1 exists in Table A, table B and Table C then one row will be created in the resulting master tables, but if the Id's are different then one individual row will be created in each table.
Also, some of the columns are same in all three tables, but some are different, but if the ID is same then I just want to append that column in the existing table.
I have two tables master and comp table. In master table, I have columns called LB1, LB2, LB1_ID, LB2_ID and in my comp table I have ID and CompName. I need to update my master table the following way
If LB1 in master table has a value of 'XYZ' then I need to find that value in Comp Table in column compName and then put the ID from comp table to master table in LB1
master
LB1 LB2 LB1_ID LB2_ID XYZ HIJ ABC KLM DEF RAW PQR VQS
Comp
ID CompName 1 XYZ 2 ABC 3 RAW 4 DEF 5 VQS 6 HIJ 7 KLM 8 PQR
I need to poulate my master table like this
master
LB1 LB2 LB1_ID LB2_ID XYZ HIJ 1 6 ABC KLM 2 7 DEF RAW 4 3 PQR VQS 8 5
So I have been trying to pull the userid of whoever is currently logged in and match it to another table that it is a fk in. I have some code that should work but I get an error that says specified cast is not valid in line 10.
I have a simple sql that selects records from some tables and insert them in one other table. This is what we need to do on a daily basis and we need to create a sql job for this.
My goal is to be able to match on tr who's descendent contains a hidden input containing either true or false.
this is how I've tried the selector (variations of this) and I'm not even testing for the value yet.
function OnFilterChanged(e){ //debugger; var checkedVal = $("#filters input[type='radio']:checked").val(); var allRows = $("#match-grid-container .tabular-data tr"); if(checkedVal=="all"){......
I am working on a multi-lingual application Assume the following:
Database has 50 tables and application has to support 5 languages
Which is the best way to design the database:
1. Include a langugae column for each table. Repeat the values for each language. Say i have a country table which has 100 countries in it. Then my design will contain 500 rows (100 for each langugae)
2. Create a separate table which will contain the translations for all the 50 tables in with a foreign key to the parent table.
I have a select statement. I need to get a field value from the first statement. GOAL: Below is what I am trying to accomplish - the code below is not correct - Please modify the statement with the correct SQL Syntax. I want to query a table and based on the results I want to set the "If THE Else"statement to query then table with diffent inner joins.
SELECT * FROM CONTENTITEM CI INNER JOIN CONTENTCATEGORY CC ON CI.CATEGORYID = CC.CATEGORYID IF CI.FORMTYPE = 200 OR 300 SELECT * FROM CONTENTITEM CI INNER JOIN CONTENTCATEGORY CC ON CI.CATEGORYID = CC.CATEGORYID INNER JOIN CONTENTFORMFIELD CF ON CF.ITEMID = CI.ITEMID WHERE CI.ITEMID = @ITEMID ELSE SELECT * FROM CONTENTITEM CI INNER JOIN CONTENTCATEGORY CC ON CI.CATEGORYID = CC.CATEGORYID WHERE CI.ITEMID = @ITEMID
I have an Access 2010 DB that I have a table of RAW data in. In my scenero when table 'a' has been populated all the rows with the updatedate of Now() get moved to another table... the SQL is like this...
[Code]....
As you can see it is a very simple query but it does NOT return any rows. There are actually 404 rows with todays date in teh Append_Date column.
i have Intime and Outtime of each employee for all the days of 1st,2,3,4 week. There will be a off for 1 day or 2 days for each employees.Based on this i need to calculate consisitency days off assignmanet i.e no of matching days off among employees in percentage. If there are 100 emplyees out of 100 employees 50 people may get week off on the same day(for example sunday).I want result in percentage.result like this
Consistency Days of assignment Across 4 weeks 3 weeks 2weeks 0 2% 0% 0% 1 98% 100% 100% 2 0% 0% 0%
Here 0,1,2 are macthing days off.Across 98% of employees getting 1 days matching in off i.e 98% of employee might off in sunday. For this we need calculate matching days off for all the days from sunday to saturday across 4,3 2 weeks Here 98% of employees getting off in same day.0 indicates 0 days,1 is 1days and 2 is 2 days(for example 50 percentage of people will get off in saturday and sunday)
I am looking for a better way to update a list of records. I have a string column in my table that contains an array of strings like so:"11112,AAAA1,AAAA2,99998" etc. It is possible that the column could contain one of those values at any position, for instance, these are ALL valid values for the column:
I want to write a SQL statement that will remove "11112" from all of the columns when needed. This MUST also remove any leading, trailing, or double comma values that may be left from simply replacing the "11112" with an empty string. As of now, I simply load a SqlDataReader with any records that contain "11112", I replace it with nothing, "", then I fix the string if need be and update it.
I am using bulk insert concept to export the data from dat file to tables(Two tables). I am using the temporary table for to do the calculation and insertion to two tables. My problem is whenever I selecting the temp table data after the execution of bulk insertion , the order is changing .I need to get the order as it is in file order(csv, dat, txt).
I am trying to select some data with dropdown lists which are related.
I select one of selection in dropdownlist1. After that, when my page reloads, dropdownlist2 is filled with table name which i am trying to get data from. (TBLYETKILI)
I don't understand how the stored procedure is returning false. It's supposed to continue looping and continue writing rows. Right now it writes the very first row, and then it goes into the If Not AdvanceLinkBanned.Add(banrec) Then and it goes in here, prints the message and exits the sub. Why is it thinking the add returns false? If Not AdvanceLinkBanned.Add(banrec) ? Doesn't this return the id of the new record? Isn't this not zero? Zero would make it false. How can this be false? Isn't it supposed to return the next record created ? Doesn't SELECT SCOPE_IDENTITY() return the value of the record id? How do I test this?
Suppose I'm building a StackOverflow clone using webforms ASP.NET and jQuery. The Question page has a question, several answers, and comments under each. Requirements:Users can post new answers and comments, and edit existing ones, without postbacks. No UpdatePanels; the AJAX calls retrieve just the JSON they need, not HTML fragments. The page loads with all existing answers and comments in place (no javascript needs to run to read the page).
What I'm trying to figure out is how to do this without having to maintain two sets of markup (one that's bound on the client using some form of jQuery templating, and one that's bound on the server using traditional WebForms).
I am trying to populate a datagridview control using a stored procedure in SQL Server database. The stored procedure accepts a parameter value. The output is a select * from #temptableoutput . Since the columns of the #temptable can not be seen by VS since they do not exist yet how do I configure the datagridview control to use the yet to be "initialized" columns?I have not found any tutorials on using stored procedures to fill datagridview controls
